Delivering the power and mission adaptability the U.S. Navy needs to meet emerging threats and challenges.
Stability and maneuverability at high speeds and sea states
With its proven trimaran hull, the Independenceclass is stable, fast and fuel efficient. It provides
safe operations in adverse seas and aviation operations into sea state 5. Using the latest in commercially and military proven, high-speed transoceanic hull technology, the Independenceclass delivers:
Fuel efficiency Ability to travel 4,300 nautical miles at 18 knots without refueling Speed and endurance reaching speeds in excess of 40 knots faster than traditional monohulls Superior maneuverability Significant storage capacity with room to carry any current and future mission packages Greater stability extends crew endurance and effectiveness
the water minimizing equipment exposure to sea spray. With greater aviation safety and stability, the Independence-class:
Supports H-53 operations and simultaneous operations from two onboard SH-60 Can control two UAVs simultaneously in operation on station and two more simultaneously in transit Provides increased UAV inventory with its large mission bay Transports equipment easily from the mission bay to the flight deck using its platform elevator
infrastructure, the Independence-class provides an adaptable and highly-capable command and control environment for coordinated air, surface, and undersea missions. It delivers more useable space and higher mission module capacity increasing on-station time and minimizing time to reconfigure for a new mission. With this greater payload and delivery, our ship offers:
High speed transport capable of simultaneously carryingat speeds in excess of 40 knotsmultiple Strykers and armored Humvees A main deck and starboard side rollon / roll-off ramp capable of handling ground vehicles, including Stryker and Expeditionary Fighting Vehicles, and support for rapid mission package change-out Stern launch of watercraft Innovative mission launch and recovery
