ABOUT THE COMPANY COMPANY PROFILE (as taken from the company s website) We, Astrro Creations & Impex Pvt Ltd, having commenced our Engineering operations since 1993 in the name of Mechentech Enterprises, expanded into precision fabrication and building of Observatories / Domes as turnkey projects. We have successfully commissioned a few such projects for Universities, Colleges and schools in India, to our credit. We are Specialist Engineers with professional expertise in the field of setting up of Observatories and Specialty Structures with proven engineering excellence and high acumen. COMMITMENT: We use high quality Steel and Raw Material from renowned suppliers like SAIL or VISL. The sheets used for cladding is a high density alloy from Japan. Our workmanship conforms to requisite specifications and standard engineering practices. ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY: Our new design Observatory Dome is lighter in weight but at the same time greater in strength. The life is much longer due to its improved weather resisting properties. The main motors and dome controls are stationary eliminating live bus-bars, moving bogies and controls, making electrical and mechanical operations free of risks and hazards. In addition, advanced safety features like cut off relays are introduced rendering the shutter operation within the desired limits. OUR TEAM The Managing Director himself is a Mechanical Engineer and a leading technocrat who has 10 years of international exposure, having acquired rich experience in setting up of turn-key engineering projects in USA, UAE, OMAN and KENYA. Back in India, he has personally led the team to repeated success in all Observatory Projects. Besides, he has imparted modern technology and advanced engineering practices across his diversified operations for the last 18 years. Recipient of a National Honour Award, he remains committed to quality oriented high acumen and workmanship in all that he undertakes on one hand and timely completion and delivery on the other. Our strong team comprises of well qualified and rich in experience personnel in Works Manager, Project Coordinator, Engineers, Skilled Technicians along with various Management and Administrative Heads. In addition to the successfully completed turnkey projects, we have fabricated and supplied to the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore, the Observatory Dome's core parts i.e., Main Rails, Drive Wheel Assemblies and Defining Roller Assemblies to their satisfaction and use in their 4.0 meter Dome at Bangalore. CHALLENGES To build and erect a perfect Observatory Dome is quite an arduous task as the parameters are quite challenging. The Dome s hemispherical shape should be attained when all the co-ordinates, center-points and axes are in open spaces. The rotation should be smooth with minimum noise and vibrations. Many technically critical criteria have to be satisfied like smooth Shutter operations, static weight transfer, dynamic load balancing, effective leak-proofing against light-pollution and rains. But despite of these challenging factors, the results speak for themselves as we stake our strongest claim of high point achievements, proving time and time again with a series of successful projects - State of Art Observatory Domes, winning accolades for the perfection, precision and quality. Thus we has established a name of prominence as a Specialist in Observatories and Domes. AWARD The Managing Director is a recipient of National Honour Award for Outstanding Individual Achievements and Distinguished Services to the Nation for various achievements and excellence particularly in the field of Engineering & Technology presented by the then Governor of Rajasthan, His Excellency Shri Madan Lal Khurana on 28th April 2004 at Jaipur. As I studied this organization, I learnt that it is a close knit and partially de-centralized organization. At top level management, the Managing Director & Director take all the policy making decisions and the key financial decisions of the company. At the middle level management, the Works Manager mediates decisions taken by Directors and informs the lower level staff and manages the e ecution of decisions. He also has authority to take intra-departmental decisions. The coordinator acts as a key middle man coordinating the work of the various different departments and assists the Works Manager. The lower level management consists of Admin staff, Accounts staff, Artists in the Studios, Engineers in the Engineering Dept, and Salesmen in the Sales & Marketing Dept. The chain of command is not very long and thus there is no alienation of the work force and the Directors are easily approachable by staff of any level. The span of control again, is not very wide and thus controlling and delegating work to the staff becomes very easy and smooth. Thus by keeping lesser number of levels of hierarchy, the company is able to achieve efficiency and productivity in its activities.
