Oath Taking Response

By Marnela Kathleen V. Pasamba August 30, 2008 Queen Margarette Hotel

To all the guests from the Board of Nursing, Hon. Amelia Rosales, from the Professional Regulation Commission Lucena, visitors, friends, parents, guardians, school administrators, fellow RNs a pleasant morning! Another batch of Filipino nurses are registered in the Professional Regulation Commission. That is no other than, our batch June 2008 RNs. Congratulations to all of us. It is indeed a special privilege for us since we all have succeeded to pass a practically difficult examination. However, this is just the beginning of another chapter in our personal and professional growth. We are now RNs and like all the other batches of professional nurses, we are all faced with the challenge of practicing the noble profession based on the eleven competencies, with which the Nurse Licensure Examinations framework came from. Let us not forget these. Let us all be moved to live by it, and bring hope to our current health care situation by actually doing it. Thus let this response be a call for us to be globally competitive nurses by practicing first here in our own country. Let us take up the challenge of being efficient and effective nurses equipped with knowledge, skills and attitude who are eyeing for the holistic care of our patients and not just for the currency or amount for which we work. Let our primary motivation be for the best cause of the patients or clients who will be placed under our care. Blessings of prosperity or riches both material and spiritual in nature will come in as effects, as fruits of our labor and of our good intentions. Let not our spirits be dampened by the harsh realities of the outside world. We are yesterdays hope for the future. Today, we are the bearers of hope. As nurses, we are capable of change as we are catalysts ourselves. As nurses, we are advocates of our patients, of the general public, of the Filipinos, of the world. Let us all be good persons first driven with great love for God/Allah/Lord/Our Savior, our selves and our neighbors our very own families, communities, our nation the Philippines and of humanity as we break the barriers of race, creed and religion. Let us uplift each others lives and not just our own. Itaguyod natin ang isat isa. Yes, we are just starting but let us not forget our roots where we originated roots of Self, roots of Nursing, roots of Life. Allow me to end the response by a simple message: Whatever it is that we aim for, remember that we are very blessed despite difficulties and hardships. We are connected. Let Nursing, through us, in the person of nurses, be the bridge of progress. Congratulations once again. God bless us in our journey as nurses.
