This book gives us a keen insight of Management of individuals & organization .The commandments of management are given in the form of 10 letters which was written by Mr. Barripper, Head of Baddies, to his young relative, Relubbus who was recently promoted to his first post as a Management Tempter. These letters cover all the aspects of individual and organizational management.

THE FIRST LETTER- SELF-MANAGEMENT


Self management is first step towards managing organizations successfully. Hence according to author one should follow following parameters for selfmanagement. Before taking the head start of the task, first of all one have to analyze all related aspects of that work, one wants to do. It really helps one in better understanding and have a better plan. After understanding the nature of struggle,one should know how to get maximum output by giving minimum input in a short spam of time. So one should manage ones time in a very proper manner. As we all know that Time Is Money, hence it very precious. Here author says that if you really want to get succeed, hard work is the key. Because success requires full concentration and full energy with the great zeal.

THE SECOND LETTER-PLANNING AND OBJECTIVE SETTING

Execution is the first step in planning process. One should have a full knowledge and idea about circumstances to that project. Prioritizing choices and objectives are very important in life and career.Indentification and evaluation of alternatives is very important aspect of planning and determinant of success. More alternatives you have and more secure you are.

THE THIRD LETTER- COMMUNICATION

For any organization or institute everywhere, communication is very important factor. If any organization fails to achieve the target, it may be explained as a failure of communication. So the success of organization is totally depends on the effectiveness of communication. As far as type of communication is concerned, there are two main types: oral and written. These two are types of verbal communication. However non-verbal communication and paralanguage also play very crucial role in communication.

THE FOURTH LETTER- CUSTOMER SERVICE

Customer service is the backbone of any business. So focus on what your customers want, not on what you want to give them. Treat your customer with respect and courtesy that you expect from others. Remember that you all are part of larger team you must work with them again tomorrow, and the next day. Dont promise people on earth if you cant deliver it. Dont be aggressive when people pressure you, and never make customer feel foolish. Regard complaints as opportunities.

THE FIFTH LETTER- USING RESOURCES


As effectively you use your resources, as efficient you are. For any task to achieve, we require a team. That is why human resource is very important

tool for any organization. Proper and effective use of human resource is very important for success. Finance or wealth is very important for any organization, so if you want to get success you should use your wealth in a proper manner. The work you want to do tomorrow, do it today because Time and Tide wait for none. So always manage your time properly. In the age of increasing competition one cant afford wasting time.

THE SIXTH LETTER-CREATIVITY


Creativity is the way to innovations. More creative you are more successful you will be. If you want to get ahead yourself from others, you have to be innovative. Innovation is fundamental aspect of remaining competitive in this time. To ensure success of organization, create an environment which is conductive for learning and full of innovation etc. You should develop trust among team members.

THE SEVENTH LETTER- MONITORING AND CONTROL


Observe the things very minutely. Try to see the invisible; try to go through every brief and details of your organization and environment. Try to learn, try to accumulate changes. Think very carefully before making any decision.

THE EIGHTH LETTER- LEADERSHIP


If you are a leader, try to understand feelings of others. Help and support others. If any person helps you in your work dont try to give overburden him/her with petty rules and request. One can increase efficiency of sub-ordinates by motivating and encouraging them. Motivation capability is criteria of testing ones leadership skills.

THE NINTH LETTER- THE ENVIRONMENT


In today,s scenario of global warming & increasing pollution day by day. One should be aware of environmental standards and legislations to ensure that one is not harming the environment. Make a green policy for your organization, produce environment friendly products. Green policy is a process where one converts waste materials to useful products. Ensure reuse and recycling of the produced waste.

THE TENTH LETTER- OVERCOMING OBSTACLES


If one is desired to be successful, he has to know avoiding and overcoming obstacles. Avoiding obstacles is the smart way of overcoming obstacles without consuming your energy and time. If you want to reach your goal, you should avoid obstacles. Because everyone does, the work but not all get success. One gets success that performs one's work smartly.

According to author for managing organizations we need self- management. A proper execution and planning is required to get success. Communication is the key aspect of organizational success. As this is the customers market, customers service is most important aspect of all businesses. If customer is satisfied we can achieve our objective. Success is all about using resources effectively. This determines ones efficiency and effectiveness in managing organization. To remain competitive in todays stiff competition one have to be innovative and creative enough to learn with a great pace to have the competitive advantage. Success of an organization depends greatly on ones ability to control ones organization, leadership qualities, how effective he is in influencing and motivating his people. Abatement of pollution is of great concern for industries these days. Hence, knowledge of Environmental standards and legislations becomes crucial in these circumstances. Considering all the circumstances, we have to reach our goal effectively and efficiently. We have not only managing our organizations but also have to learn about Management Development and this what the Author wants to convey to us in the form of 10 letters.
