WARNING Always make sure that the Unit Under Test is properly grounded. When testing the units in the lab or during field installation, always practice RF radiation safety rules. It is not recommended for service or lab personnel to work closer than two meters from the Repeater antenna surfaces when it is operating.
CAUTIONS Switch off the power to the unit before connecting or disconnecting any cable. Do not connect or disconnect the coaxial connectors while power is applied to the Repeater. Do not apply more than +10dBm of RF input power to any RF port of the Repeater system, or irreversible damage may occur. When measuring high power outputs, always verify that the equipment input port is capable of handling the expected output power. During lab or field tests, with power applied to the Repeater, do not use any mobile transmitters in a range of less than 10 meters from the unit. An unexpectedly high RF power might appear at the output ports, which might in turn damage the measuring equipment connected to that port.

Chapter 1. Introduction
1.1 About Celletras Cellular RF Repeaters
Celletras Cellular CDMA RF Repeaters provide Up-link (UL) and Down-link (DL) cell coverage extension. They serve as a sophisticated wireless bidirectional boosters, sensing and re-amplifying the RF cellular transmission in DL (from the donor base-station to the mobile users), and in UL (from the mobile-users to the donor base-station), simultaneously. Coverage extension results in increasing traffic through the donor base station, thus improving utilization of the Base Transceiver Station (BTS) resources. Optimization of this network involves -above all- coverage and interference control. Repeaters in the CDMA network are therefore interactive with the donor cell and the neighbouring cells, and require flexible tuning and control. Their effectiveness depends highly on these and other features.
Overall Unique Advantages The Celletra Repeater product line shares unique features for exceptional coverage, low impact on the cell, high controllability, and low maintenance cost. The repeater system guarantees low Noise Figure (NF), high power efficiency, unique flexibility in installation, and high reliability.

NOTE: Correct isolation between the antennas ensures the Repeater will work with the required gain without going into oscillations. If the isolation is not sufficient, it will be necessary to reduce the Repeater gain affecting the Repeater coverage area.
CAUTIONS Always shut down AC supply to the Repeater before handling, replacing, or removing the unit from the tower.

WARNING Recap the power and communication connectors until the Repeater is ready to be set up. Do not connect the power yet.
CAUTION Power to the Repeater site must be supplied according to the safety standards in the corresponding country (grounded outlets, circuit breaker, conduits, etc.).
The power cable is supplied by Celletra and is described in Appendix B. It is recommended to install a small junction box containing a 6A circuit breaker before the power cable. Installation of an ELCB (Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker) is highly recommended. Note that the power receptacle on the repeater includes a fuse rated 5A and a spare one. When replacing the fuse, observe the orientation of the fuse holder.

From this point, the following functions are accessed by pressing the Right or Left keys: Gain <> Frequency <> Lock <> Alarms <> PA <> ALC <> Donor Pin Level
Pressing Enter when one of the above appears leads to its sub-menu. Again, the functions of the sub-menus are accessed by pressing the Right or Left keys. When changing the frequency, each keystroke advances the frequency groups a<>a1<>b<>c, and the display shows the respective channels numbers. Changing the values of these functions is done by pressing Enter, then the Up or Down keys and Enter again, to confirm the changed value. In addition, there is a graphical bar display of the Donor Pin level. One star is the minimum (-75 dBm), 8 stars are the maximum (-30 dBm). The three digits at the end are the power in dBm. In order to exit the system, return to Lock in the menu and press Enter.
Notes: The first pressed key will turn on the backlight, which will turn off within 10 seconds if no other key is pressed. The system reverts to Lock state after 10 minutes of inactivity. The system has only one security level of Administrator when using the keypad and LCD. This level enables monitoring and changing parameters.
30
Celletra Proprietary
The reason for this limit is avoid operation near oscillations of the Repeater. It s on the isolation between the donor and the distribution antennas. The required DL gain calculation is based on not exceeding 30 dBm output at full traffic in all channels within the bandpass of the repeater. The DL gain can be set within a range of 40 to 80dB as long as the gain does not exceed the G max defined above.
CAUTION
Do not set excessive gain in the DL, otherwise, the Repeater may enter the ALC state and the Power Control loop.
The gain set-up is done at night, when traffic is nil and only the BCCH is on air. Leave a margin, related to the number of channels, for peak time operation If the repeater is approaching ALC during peak time, reduce the Gain respectively.
