Watson Job Aid 2 The type of job aid that I develop is based on Jean Watsons outlook on nursing and caring moments. Jean Watson is a well known nursing professor and a Murchinson-Scoville Chair in Caring Science at the University of Colorado and Health Sciences Center (Watson Caring Science Institute, 2009). Dr. Watson founded what is the original Center for Human Caring in Colorado and who is as well a member of the Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. Dr. Watson who was a past President of the National League for Nursing as well as the Dean of Nursing at the University of Health Sciences Center (Watson Caring Science Institute, 2009). The caring philosophy is used as a guide to transform different type of caring and healing practices models for all nursing care around the world (Watson Caring Science Institute, 2009). Dr. Watson has been featured in many nursing theory and the art of nursing videos that were national. She has been rewarded many different awards that were on a national level including: Fetzer Institute Norman Cousins Award. These rewards were to recognize her commitment in developing and maintaining the relationship in the care centered nursing practices which many different countries have established (Watson Caring Science Institute, 2009). Dr. Watson is the author and also a co-author of about 14 books in regards to the practice of nursing caring. Her latest books are measurements of nursing caring practices to the new postmodern philosophies to nature healing. Currently a new revised project is in process in regards to: Creating a Caring Science Curriculum for Caring Science (Watson Caring Science Institute, 2009). Jean Watson selected the use of caring healing modalities for self and patients. Definition of caring moment is heart centered loving energetic field, a turning point (Watson Caring Science Institute, 2009). A call to hire deeper consciousness intentionality, having a choice in caring and living requires a presence centering search for meaning all of authenticity anticipating healing and wholeness, authentic human caring heart center practices at the staff and patient satisfaction

Some examples include: massage therapy, aromatherapy, and essences of sound, music, arts and a variety of modalities. Another suggestion is dimming the unit lights, and having designated quiet time for patients families to relax and feel at home. Creating healing spaces for nurses sanctuaries for there own time out, times and places for meditation or relaxation for quiet time next cultivation of own spiritual heart center practices of loving kindness in the quality to self and others next intentionally pausing inbreeding potential to be present before entering the patients room next engaging is centering exercises and mindfulness practices either individually (McGraw, 2002). Developing a Care channel in the hospital to bring soothing scenes and calming music to patient rooms, would be a great benefit in order to reduce stress and providing a calming environment for the patient and family and for the nurse. By exploring documentation of caring language and integration in computerized documentation systems stop participation in multi site research, assessing caring, and the staff and patients stop creating healing environments attending to the subtle environment or Caritas still displaying healing objects stones or blessing baskets, creating caring circles to share caring moments, engaging in bedside rounds with patients interviewing. Selection of staff can be a basis of the caring orientation, asking candidates to describe a caring moment that they have experienced. The development and caring competencies serve as a guide to assess and permit staff development and assuring care has had a break through with caring science. Preserving and sustaining human dignity, wholeness, integrity of mind, body, and spirit will provide a healing environment that will enable self-care, self-knowledge, and self control, self healing and potential. Professor Watson is a global teacher that displays nursing goals assuring the practice of human caring in return for the

These practices will extend the caring science and knowledge along with development and clinical care persons and caring practice to new professional practice models of authentic caring healing excellence. Definition of caring moment is heart centered, loving energetic field, a turning point, a call to higher, deeper consciousness intentionally (Watson Caring Science Institute, 2009). A caring and living moment requires presence centering search for meaning for all authenticity anticipating healing and wholeness; authentic human heart centers practice at that staff level and patient satisfaction. The theory of human caring should be read, studied, learned, taught, and researched. In order to understand the caring theory, you must personally experience it, and implemented effectively from experiential perspective supported by the management as well. It would be helpful to provide the nursing team with traditional as well as nontraditional practices to could enhance their understanding in the caring theory. The information in regards to the job aid can be delivered during orientation, which can be via audio, teleconferenced, pamphlet and of course during your training and stay at the hospital (Stanhope & Lancaster, 2008).
