Subject Masterclasses Saturday 18th June 2011 Maths with an introduction to related subjects Joining Instructions and Travel

Information
(NB: Only delegates who have booked a place can attend the Masterclasses)

VENUE: University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory William Gates Building 15 JJ Thomson Avenue Cambridge CB3 0FD

Timings and Arrivals:


Doors will be open from 9.30am. The masterclass starts at 10.30am so please arrive by 10.15am at the latest to allow us to get you registered and seated. The masterclass will finish at approximately 4.30pm. Should you have difficulty in finding the venue on the day, please contact Helen Dingwall on 07500 883578.

Refreshments:
There will be a sandwich bar open from 9.30am and also during the lunch break, selling hot and cold drinks and snacks.

What to bring:
Please bring a pen and paper. The masterclass programme and any additional subject papers will be provided on the day.

Refunds and Cancellations:


Any delegate wishing to cancel and obtain a refund should send an email to masterclasses@cao.cam.ac.uk by 9am on Wednesday 15th June 2011. Please ensure you include your

booking reference and the subject masterclass you are booked on. You will receive a refund to your credit card within one week. Note: Bookings are non-refundable after this deadline.

Travelling by car:
The postal code of the Computer Laboratory is CB3 0FD, however but we do not recommend that you try to traverse the historic city centre by car and unfortunately there is no car parking on site at the Computer Laboratory. If you wish to drive into the city, look at Map 2 of Cambridge City on the Visit Cambridge website: http://www.visitcambridge.org/VisitCambridge/Maps.aspx?p=22&pid=1106&prcid=4&ppid=1106. You will notice that certain access/circular routes are coloured in dark pink, denoting roads which are two way and without rising bollard restrictions etc. If you are travelling into Cambridge by car the best option is to use the Park and Ride car park on Madingley Road. Madingley Park and Ride: http://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/transport/around/parkandride/madingleyroad/. It is a 10 minute walk down Madingley Road to the Computer Laboratory on JJ Thomson Avenue, so we suggest you park at the Park and Ride then walk to the venue. The nearest city centre car park is Park Street: http://www.cambridge.gov.uk/ccm/navigation/transportand-streets/car-parks/. It is a 30 minute walk from Park Street to the Computer Laboratory on JJ Thomson Avenue. Finally you may be lucky and find a parking spot on the adjacent streets. restrictions apply. Travelling by coach: National Express run a regular coach service to Cambridge, from London and many other towns. For routes and times, check the website at http://www.nationalexpress.com/coach/index.cfm. Please check the stops on the route of each coach carefully as some travel directly to Cambridge whereas others can take a much more roundabout route and take considerably longer. National Express Coaches arrive in Cambridge by Parkers Piece. The best option is to get a taxi from here as it is 35 minute walk to the Computer Laboratory. Travelling by train From London: The fastest trains at the weekends from London are the non-stop trains from Kings Cross direct to Cambridge. They run at 15 minutes and 45 minutes past each hour and take approximately 50 minutes. For exact times, check the website at http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/. The best option is to get a taxi from the station as it is a 50 minute walk to the Computer Laboratory. Free street parking in

Travelling by train From other locations: Please check with National Rail and also the train operating company website that you will be travelling with to ensure there are no engineering works taking place on your line to Cambridge on that date.
