Compared with 600MW subcritical gensets, 600MW supercritical gensets has an improved generating efficiency of 3% approximately, a reduction of 15g/Kwh of coal consumption. If calculated with the current coal price, a set of 600MW supercritical genset can save RMB 22.68M yuan/a approximately. 2.1 Boiler Employment of the latest Low NOx Co-axial Firing System(LNCFS), water-cooling wall of spiral pipes in firing region of furnace, water-cooling wall of vertical pipes in flue region and series of high-temperature materials up to the requirement of supercritical gensets. 2.2 Steam turbine Employment of high-temperature materials up to the technical requirement of genstes; Employment of saber-type rotor for all reaction blades; Integrated selfprovided moving blades(ISB); Low pressure cylinder self-locked damping long blades(ILB), the ILB blade is 1,050mm long; Start control technology with bypass in cold state; Up to the design norm for steam clearance exciting-proof axis; A technology taking into account of axis stability and effects of steam exciting force; The full ternary dynamic technology has been promoted and applied in all circulating parts of high, medium and low pressure; Reliability of large capacity steam turbines and application of life-span technologies.

2.3 Steam generator A big amount of new materials and new structures at home and abroad have been employed to guaranty the quality of the product, such as the large insulated conical ring, the insulated hollow conductor, new mutual inductor of big current and stressresistant & corrosion-resistant 18Mn18Cr protection ring. 2.4 Auxiliary equipments The explosive and tube expanding technology for supercritical heater feeding with high-pressure (patent: manufacturing structure for combined heat transfer pipe and tube plate); build-up welding of transitional layer of low carbon steel is put forward based on study on high-pressure heater technology of increased seams between pipe connections and corrosion-proof measures, targeting at improving welding performances at the root, developing integrated oxygen deaerator successfully and reduce cost.

Yuhuan Genset is the first MW super supercritical thermal power genset in China with output of1000MW and major steam parameters 26.25MPa and 600 /600 Its pressure is higher than that of Japan. made and its temperature is higher than that of Europe-made. Technically, the successful R & D of Yuhuan Genset has achieved the spanning development with the single axis particularly. It has been up to the world advanced levels. By far, tenders have been opened for 16 MW super supercritical thermal power gensets in the country(4 for Yuhuan, 2 for Zouxian, 2 for Taizhou, 2 for Waigaoqiao, 2 for Haining, 2 for Beilungang and 2 for Beijiang), among which Shanghai Electric received orders for 12 steam gensets and 6 boilers.

2. Thermal power generation technology - 300MW CFB Boiler CFB burning technology under
normal pressure is recognized as the best commercialized CCT internationally. Research on supercritical CFB started in 1997 internationally. The French Alstom completed its scenario study on 600MW supercritical CFB in 2000. The US FW issued its 300MW and 600MW supercritical CFB scenarios and feasibility study reports in 1999 and 2001 respectively. China started its initial study on key issues regarding supercritical CFB scenario design in 1999 with the same pace of the world. As the next generation CFB technology, Supercritical CFB holds the promise of breaking through 40% efficiency of power supply. Supercritical CFB is one of the CCT generation technologies that can be powerfully promoted in a mid and long-term.

Currently, technical assistance to the three biggest electric equipment manufacturers are respectively from the following: Shanghai -- Siemens Dongfang -- Alstom Harbin -- Mitsubishi The three biggest electric equipment manufacturers have all sped up their process of upgrading the nuclear power generation technology and equipments, investing large amount of capital in updating and expansion of workshops and equipments. The trend of nuclear power generation technology currently is safety, cost-saving, prolonged life-span, increased capacity and digitalized control.

5. Wind power generation technology initial industrial scale has taken shape

By the end of 2004, 43 wind generation farms have been established in China with installed capacity up to 764,000kW out of 1,292 gensets, taking the 10th place in the world and third place in Asia(after India and Japan). China has qualified itself for design and manufacturing low capacity wind gensets, equivalent to the standard of mid-nineties of 20th century. The first 1.2MW permanent-magnet wind genset, with independently developed IPR o China, has been officially completed and put into operation in Harbin Electromechanical Industry Co., Ltd. The contract for design and development of 2MW wind genset has been signed between Shanghai Electric-Power Generation Group and AERODYN of Germany, a wind genset with the biggest unit capacity imported or developed in China currently.

5. Wind power generation technology domestic design and manufacturing capacity unable to meet the market demand
Objective of installed wind power generation capacity in China is 5 million kW in 2010 and 30 million kW in 2020. Domestic design and manufacturing capacity canmeet the need of such a big market. t Technical difficulties include: a) Technically, transition from fixed propeller and speed to variable propeller and speed. b)unit capacity upgrading from 100 kW to MW The development of wind power generation must be assisted by the state. In accordance with the principle of importing, digesting, assimilating and independently developing as well as combining technology and business, China should be able to master the manufacturing technology of large MW wind power generation gensets. China should establish a stable domestic market first and then open up the international market.

6. IGCC the next objective of industrial development Integrated gasification combined cycle(IGCC) is a gas-steam combined cycle power generation technology using purified synthetic gas produced from gasification of multiple carbonbased fuels such as coal, biomass, petroleum coke and heavy residual oil. IGCC can not only solve the big issue of low efficiency and high pollution in coal-fired power stations currently to a great extent, but also make up the shortage of natural gas supply and its high price. From the point of view of systematic structure and equipment manufacturing, IGCC has carried forward and promoted almost all available technologies for thermal power systems at the moment.

IGCC the next objective of industrial development By 2005, nearly 30 IGCC power stations have been in operation or under construction worldwide with installed capacity over 8 million KW, among which half are established in the USA. The development of IGCC has entered a high-tide period internationally. But it is still a new technology in China.

both the power industry and electric equipment manufacturers have the common responsibility to realize efficient and safe utilization of energy and promote the sustainable development of economy and society. With the healthy development of power industry, great progress has been made in China in terms of super supercritical technology, gasburning technology and wind generation technology. However, it is a long-term and arduous task for the industry to further improve these electric equipments and technologies.
