A large crowd gathered around Him People will not follow a leader they do not trust A synagogue leader Jairus also arrived saw Jesus quickly bowed down in front of him. LORD I NEED A MIRACLE!!! Text: Mark 5:21-43.

Wahoo! Year twenty-eleven (2011) is running. It s running like a cheetah, the fastest animal on land.
We are now at the beginning of a new quarter and the second half the year twenty-eleven (2011). Hmm how time flies ! This once a new year is going again, it s changing, and soon it will give way to a new one and become an old one. I believe this is the best time for serious reflections- at the beginning of this year we all had dreams, expectations, desires, wishes, fantasies, loads of prayer points and promises from God. How much of these have materialized? How much of these have become a reality? Are you in anyway close to your dreams? I m tempted to ask: do you even have a dream? Is this what you bargained for? Do you pray your life goes on this way? Or do you need a change desperately? Are you satisfied? Satisfied with the pace at which things are on going in your life? Or are you like the woman in our text, desperately in need of God s intervention? Her miracle could not wait for another second. If you are, then I have good news for you. Jesus who did it for her is here right now. He is here to meet you at the point of your needs. He is here to heal the sick, to give hope to the hopeless, to make the barren fruitful, and to make possible the impossible. He is here to set the captives free. Jesus is here right now. But let me warn you! If you want her kind of miracle, you must make her kind of decision and take her kind of step (God is not a respecter of persons, he respects principles). In our text there were three kinds of people: The great multitude, Jarius, and the woman with the issue of blood. Please pay rapt attention as we learn from them. Someone said: you learn from both the fool and the wise. From the fool, you learn how not to live your life, and from the wise you learn how to live your life. From these three groups we can derive three major principles of getting your miracle. You will, at the end of our study choose by your actions which group of the three you will belong to, by the time we will be greeting ourselves Happy New year. Remember the rule of the game! You can only deicide by your action or inaction- Actions determines destiny. Wisdom is making decision today based on what will happen tomorrow. He who fails to plan is already planning to fail. Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed with yourself because of the things you did not do, than because of the things you did. Insanity is defined as: doing things the same way and be expecting a different result A man does not become great because of what he knows but by acting on what he knows

The Great Multitude

A huge crowd followed Jesus and pressed on him on every side.

Vs .40 They laughed at him. So He made all of them go

They are indifferent, they care less. This version called them the great They are ok, contented with their status. They believed they have arrived. They are like the proverbial saying: He is a fool who knows not and knows not that he does not know. To a mad man everyone is insane but himself. In Sports they are called the spectators, they watch while others perform. They have come to be entertained. The key characteristic of the multitude is that they have little or no commitment. No ambition, direction nor purpose in life. They just follow the crowd. Some of them don t even think they need help let alone in need of God. They are Christians- if they are at all, because that s what s in vogue. They do it simply because that is what every body is doing. They follow blindly. They have no personal relationship with Jesus.

The problem with this approach or formula is that it will get you nowhere. It may even get you into trouble. Some of these people go back home with other people s problems, because while others were praying and taking a live changing decision they were jisting or watching to be entertained. They will not do nor allow others to do. E.g. the crowd that was trying to shout bartimeous down, thank God he did not listen to them. Vs .40 They laughed at him. He made all of them go They do not usually receive their miracles. They may not even know they need one any way. They usually get what they aim at- NOTHING.

A synagogue leader Jairus also arrived saw Jesus quickly bowed down in front of him Begged Jesus to lay His on his dying daughter so that she me get well and live. Jairus Is some one who seeks God for what he or she will gain. These set of people serve God only
when it is convenient or when they need His favor. The love they have for God is what I call a cupboard love. They pretend to be your friend but the only time you ever hear from them is when they need you. They are nowhere to be found when you need them most. I thought they say a friend in need is a friend in deed! These ones are far from it. Their kind of friendship is more like a parasitic one. They use you to get what they want and they dump you. The problem with this approach is that you may get your miracle but it may be delayed. It may be delayed indefinitely. They are willing to lick your finger with you provided it is covered with palm oil and not blood.

The Woman with the Issue of Blood

Brief history this woman:
VS.25-34. in the crowd was a woman who had been suffering bleeding for twelve years. Although under the care of many doctors and had spent all her money, she had not been helped at all. heard about Jesus What did she do? .came from behind in the crowd and touched she said if I can touch You can choose to stop being part of the crowd.

Ben Cason used to be the last in his class today he a world renowned neurosurgeon. You too can move from the back side of life. Your back ground is not the reason you back should remain on the ground.

So happened what?

Her bleeding stopped immediately Jesus told her It is the goal that shapes the plan; it is the plan that sets the action; it is the action that achieves the results and it s the result that brings the success. And it all begins with the simple word goals. We grow by dreams. All big individuals are dreamers. They see things in the soft haze of a spring day or in the red fire on a long winter s evening. Some of us let those great dreams die, but others nourish and protect them; nourish them through bad days until they bring them to sunshine and light which comes always to those who sincerely hope that their dreams will come true. Huge crowd followed Jesus and pressed on him on every side- everyone was mounting pressure on Jesus- but this woman touched him.
She has a need, but thought of meeting Jesus need. She touched God. This kind of people see God s problem as their own problem. A good example is he was in exile serving the king they king asked him what the problem was he said the temple - This kind of people wants to help God solve his problems. Though they have their own problems and challenges they are willing to forget about themselves in other to help God. They put God first before themselves. When the disciples went to meet Jesus that he should eat, said to them: my meat is to do the will of my father. No wonder he was given the name above all names. The bible says at the name of Jesus every knee must bow. These kind of people are ready to inconvenient themselves for the sake of the gospel. They readily save God without complains or excuses. These are the people heaven move for. They move the hand of God. E.g. Solomon, David- How can I be living in a palace and ark of God be living in a tent I cannot give to God what will not cost me , the three Hebrew boys-even if God will not save us, Daniel, Joseph, Joshua, Deborah, Paul- woe unto me if I preach not the gospel, If I live I live for the glory of God If I die it s for the glory of God., and John the beloved- I love him, even death could not kill him etc. They are people who will prefer to ask God what they can do

for Him than ask Him what he will do for them. They care about God. Their aim is to give God pleasure. They are stake holders in the business of the kingdom. What does it mean to touch someone? 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. To rouse to emotions To show love To express approval To care about the touched. To impress.

At the end of the year, when companies are giving bonuses and dividends-- they give only people who are stake holders or people who have invested in their stocks. What have you invested in this fellowship that God can reward? How about the quality? Is it of wood like, clay like or gold like material? Remember all works shall be test by fire. Will yours be burnt or will it endure? Do not be mocked God will reward... God will owe anyone a thing... he who sows sparingly will... To the faithful God said he shows himself ...to the forward.... He who honor me will I... He who despises me will... What can fellow members of this fellowship remember about you?

How you can be an active member or a stake holder:

Volunteer to pray for the fellowship and member on regular bases with anyone having to remind you. Come early to see the place is descent and well arranged for meeting. Seek to serve rather than to be served. Join and function in a committee. Etc the list is endless. God is always looking for one person that seek to serve, this is the kind of person he blesses promotes and gives freedom to. He wants a witness. Will he find you available?

Am I A STAKE holder or a place holder? Your greatest freedom is to use your life for what God made it. - This is the only way you can get peace of mind and truly be happy. Prayer points: Lord what will you have me do? Show me the reason why you've sent me to this fellowship?

Help me not to lose my relevance? Matt 5: If the salt loses its taste how can it be made salty again? The only ones among you who will be truly happy are the once who have sought and found how to serve others Life s most persistent and urgent question is, what are you doing for others?
