Flame (weeks 1 & 2) (90 minute class)


The beginning, hot yoga class is where to begin our workshop series. It is a set of 31 postures done to soothing music. Flame is a Bickrim inspired class in which the focus is on learning your own proper alignment. Flame is designed to increase healthy digestion, systematically rebuild balance in the body and to increase overall energy and detoxication. The room is heated to 95-100 degrees in order to help tight muscles and tendons relax, mitigating the chances of beginners over stretching and thereby more quickly increasing exibility. In this 9 week course we will be focusing on the 10 commandments, which are the 1st and 2nd limbs of yoga, called the yama and niyama's, as well as posture alignment. Flame is the foundation of this 9 week course, the heat helps pave the way for the concentration needed in the more advanced series available from Smiling Camel Yoga. Flame is a beginning class that is also taught in private sessions.

Breeze (weeks 3 & 4) (90 minute class)


The next step, ow yoga based series focuses on the ujjayi breath creating a ow (vinyasa) from one posture to the next. Breeze is an Ashtanga inspired class. This cardiovascular, strengthening series tones the muscles, heals the organs and cleanses the systems of the body. The extra attention to the breath calms the nervous system which creates relaxation while we utilize the mantra: "Father, Son and Holy Ghost." This class is for beginners and advanced practitioners alike. If you are a beginner, this class builds into more advanced postures and acts as a transition between the Flame and Stone series.The focus of this class is marrying the breath (pranayama the 4th limb) with mantra and movement. The temperature in this class is 85-88 degrees. Breeze classes are available for private sessions as well.

Wave (week 5) (80 minute class)


This class is the midpoint in the 9 week course. It is a fun and freeing class with little instruction. Yoga's 5th limb is pratyahara (sense withdrawl.) Wave is a mysoar inspired class. The purpose of wave is to develop your own home practice, get out of your box and let your mantra and asanas lead your practice. In wave, a teacher will practice free movement section, silent Breeze or Flame series, with no spoken instruction. You will move and create your own practice in a playful manner. This is an important step for any yoga student.

Bamboo (weeks 6 & 7) (60 Minutes)


Bamboo is a gentle class where you will begin to learn to express your inner thoughts and prayers through asana practice. This class incorporates different styles of Christian contemplation (the 6th limb) and meditation (the 7th limb) techniques. Bamboo is an Iyengar inspired class. This gentle class focuses on releasing the mind in supported asanas. It deepens your enjoyment in each posture, as your powerful massaging breath relaxes your body and creates the space for healing.Bamboo is healing for your tendons and joints, and is a wonderful addition to more invigorating practices, like Flame, Breeze and Stone. The room is heated to a comfortable 80 degrees to prevent injury and promote circulation. Come and learn how to pray using your entire body! This class will deepen your faith and your relationship with Jesus.

Stone (weeks 8 & 9) (90 Minutes in Studio Only)


Are you ready to advance your practice, take both your postures and your focus to the next level? If so this series is for you. This is the 9 weeks advanced series class during which students use their ujjayi breath to warm the body and focus the mind as we embrace both familiar and new postures in a whole new way.This class will introduce advanced yoga postures and challenge a graduating 9 week course participant to stretch their minds and bodies to a whole new level.
