1.

Test tube Test tubes are widely used by chemists to hold, mix, or heat small quantities of solid or liquid chemicals, especially for qualitative experiments and assays.

2. Test tube rack The testtube rack is used to hold test tubes while reactions happen in them or while they are not needed.

3. Beaker Used to hold and heat liquids. Multipurpose and essential in the lab.

4. Bunsen burner Bunsen burners are used for heating and exposing items to flame. They have many more uses than a hot plate, but do not replace a hot plate.

5. Florence flask The Florence Flask is used for heating substances that need to be heated evenly. The bulbed bottom allows the heat to distribute through the liquid more evenly. The Florence Flask is mostly used in distillation experiments.

6. Funnel The Funnel is a piece of equipment that is used in the lab but is not confined to the lab. The funnel can be used to target liquids into any container so they will not be lost or spilled.

7. Mortar and pestle The Mortar and Pestle are used to crush solids into powders for experiments, usually to better dissolve the solids.

8. Test tube holder The holder is used to hold test tubes when they are hot and untouchable.

9. Volumetric flask The Volumetric flask is used to measure one specific volume. They are mostly used in mixing solutions where a one liter or one half a liter is needed.

10. Erlenmeyer flask The Erlenmeyer Flask is used to heat and store liquids. The advantage to the Erlenmeyer Flask is that the bottom is wider than the top so it will heat quicker because of the greater surface area exposed to the heat.

11. Stir rods A stirring rod is a piece of laboratory equipment used to mix chemicals and liquids for laboratory purposes. They are usually made of solid glass, about the thickness and slightly longer than a drinking straw.

12. Spatula A spatula is used to take small quantities of solid chemicals. It serves like a spoon.

13. Graduated cylinder A measuring cylinder or graduated cylinder is used to measure the volume of liquids. A measuring cylinder is used for measuring solutions, liquids and also water. For example, a solution made up of salt and water could be measured.

14. Crucible A crucible is used in chemistry to heat things, such as reaction mixtures. They are typically made out of ceramics and are thus resistant to quite a bit of heat.

15. Pipette It is used to transfer measured substances into another vessel.

16. Regeant bottle It is a (usually) glass container to hold liquid chemicals.

17. Laboratory tongs Laboratory tongs are large pincers for grasping and lifting vessels of heat-resistant material used in high temperature chemical reactions. They can be used to hold or pick up many items, but work best as tongs for picking up a hot evaporating dish.

18. Laboratory tripod A tripod is used to support laboratory equipment when it comes in heating objects.

19. Thermometer Laboratory thermometers are used to measure temperatures or temperature changes with a high degree of precision.

20. Ring stand For holding pieces of glassware in place.
