number. On Monday, the Government of
Tamil Nadu launched Emergency
Management and Research Institute’s (EMRI)
108 ambulance service. Around 20
ambulances will offer different services
covering police, fire and medical aid free of
cost. The toll free number can be dialled for
any emergency be it medical, police and fire
and can be accessible from a landline,
mobile, local telephone booth without any
prefix or suffix. You could dial the number
any time of the day for any emergency. The
service promises to reach them at the
earliest.
How it works
When a caller calls ‘108’ to report an
emergency, the call centre gathers all the
necessary information before reaching out to
the place. The ERCP and the emergency
medical technicians in the ambulance will
provide free pre-hospital care while
transporting the victim to the nearest
hospital. ■

ing, a buyer will have many op-
tions to choose from,” said top

It’s lovely. I still can’t believe

love me and Bollywood so

healthy for the career of an ac-
tor; it limits his creativity. I have
done over 150 films so far and if
you ask me all of them have
been my best performances ir-
respective of box office results.
You are playing a
Shakespearean theatre
actor in the film. How
difficult is it for an actor to
play an actor?
The craft of a theatre actor is
superior to that of a film actor.
This stage actor – Harish Mishra
– has a huge ego and arrogance
in him. It is psychologically very
difficult for a film actor to por-
tray such a character. People
from stage are a bit louder than
normal people. Mishra, too,
moves his hands while talking.
He speaks as if his real life, too,
is an extension of the stage.
Any regrets that the
Mumbai premiere was
cancelled?
It would have been better if I
could share my film with the
Mumbai audience. But there are
no regrets as the premiere is be-
ing held in Kolkata, my second
home, where I started my acting
career.
You apologised to Raj
Thackeray on behalf of your
wife Jaya. But do you really
think he acted rationally by
cancelling the premiere of
The Last Lear in Mumbai?
That chapter has ended. All I
would say is that I am con-
vinced that I am not alone. All
people of India are with me and
as long as I have the strength,
faith and support of the people
