INTRODUCTION: First of all, I would like to thank Slim, from Slimphony website, who inspired this documentation. You can find his website at http://slimphony.blogspot.com/ To install the telephone application, you will NEED a vmware desktop license. You can find vmware at http://www.vmware.com You will need a named pipe proxy. You can find a freeware at http://shvechkov.tripod.com/nptp.html You will also need a telnet software. If you are using Linux, the console is good enough. If you are using Windows, I highly recommend putty, which you can find at http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/

Once this part is done, you will need to create a pipe toward a software, in order to be able to connect to the console. To do so, edit your new vmware machine, and add a new hardware:

At this point, you will need to run and configure the named pipe proxy:

Once this is done, launch putty, and telnet to localhost (or 127.0.0.1) on the port 8888 Once you started putty, right click on its icon in the task bar, click on settings, and under Connection / Telnet, uncheck the Return key sends Telnet New Line instead of ^M :

Once this is done, you can start PC Installer. Setup the Alcatel host as an APPLIANCE SERVER. Boot your vmWare host, and push F12 for a network install. Write down somewhere the mac address which is displayed in your screen, you will need it later.
