Blind-Fight (Combat Feat)

You are skilled at attacking opponents that you cannot clearly perceive. Benefit: In melee, every time you miss because of concealment (see Combat), you can reroll your miss chance percentile roll one time to see if you actually hit. An invisible attacker gets no advantages related to hitting you in melee. That is, you don't lose your Dexterity bonus to Armor Class, and the attacker doesn't get the usual +2 bonus for being invisible. The invisible attacker's bonuses do still apply for ranged attacks, however. You do not need to make Acrobatics skill checks to move at full speed while blinded. Normal: Regular attack roll modifiers for invisible attackers trying to hit you apply, and you lose your Dexterity bonus to AC. The speed reduction for darkness and poor visibility also applies. Special: The Blind-Fight feat is of no use against a character who is the subject of a blink spell.

Combat Reflexes (Combat Feat)

You can make additional attacks of opportunity. Benefit: You may make a number of additional attacks of opportunity per round equal to your Dexterity bonus. With this feat, you may also make attacks of opportunity while flat-footed. Normal: A character without this feat can make only one attack of opportunity per round and can't make attacks of opportunity while flat-footed.

The tentacles grapple with the same strength as the claw but deal no damage, instead exuding a paralytic secretion. Anyone held in the tentacles must succeed on a DC 19 Fortitude save each round on the chuul's turn or be paralyzed for 6 rounds. The save DC is Constitution-based. While held in the tentacles, paralyzed or not, a victim automatically takes 1d8+7 points of damage each round from the creature's mandibles.

HISTORY Chuul made its first appearance in the 3rd edition Monster Manual (2000) and then in 3.5 edition (3003). Chuul got a ecology article in Dragon #330 (2005). Because WoTC put the chuul on their SRD it allowed Pathfinder to include the chuul in its Bestiary which is the version presented here. The uchuulon (slime chuul) appeared in Stormwrack (2005). Created by Mindflayers. The chuul appears in the fourth edition Monster Manual (2008), including the chuul juggernaut.

FLUFF COMPARISION WoTC sChuul and PF s are not are very similar and their fluff can easily be use interchangeably or amalgamated. The minor difference do not contradict each other example WoTCChuuls are often the thralls of Beholders and Mind Flayers, and the PF Chuul suggests a language which sounds like common hinting at strange mysterious origins. Note: The PF image seems to give more of a mindflayer connection then WoTC. Alternatives to Chuul The obvious choice would be Giant and Monstrous Crabs, both nearly identical one from PF the other from Tome of Horrors (3.5) thou has been converted to PF. Crabmen, a classic D&D CR2 monster found in Tome of Horrors (3.5) and converted to PF. Also 1E Fiend Folio, 2E Fiend Folio (MC14), 1E Monstrous Manual Hammerclaw are large CR: 4 lobsters that speak Aquan and do sonic attacks. Found in Stormwrack
