Lxposure l/3 stop, l stop Pecovery 5, 20 Plll Llght 5, l5
8lacks l, l0 8 & C 5, 20 vlbrance 5, 20

Storing Your Presets and Templates with a Catalog
Thls optlon ls partlcularly useful lf you need to constantly move your catalog and lmages from one computer to another. Por
example, ln an educatlonal photo lab envlronment, a student mlght move from one machlne to another at every class. Chooslng
Preferences > Presets > Store Presets wlth Catalog allows any user-created settlng such as metadata templates, develop presets etc.
to be stored wlth (ln the same folder as) the assoclated catalog lnstead of ln the default locatlon. Por those that share computers,
the advantage ls that you won't have to see all of the other photographer's catalog presets (llke metadata templates). However, lf
you are worklng on your own computer, | would suggest that you do NOT change thls optlon (lnstead, save the presets that you
make to the default locatlon) so that your presets wlll be accesslble lf you declde to create multlple catalogs.
Advanced Collections
Another great use for collectlons provlde a way for you to manage tasks ln your worknow. Por example you can create a Smart
Collectlon that wlll search for and dlsplay all lmages that don't have keywords or copyrlght applled (so that you know what you
stlll have to do). Or you can create one that dlsplays all of the 2 star lmages taken wlthln the past 30 days that haven't had adust-
ments (treatments) applled.
Synchronizing Folders
Occaslonally you may download one card lnto a folder and start lmportlng the les lnto Llghtroom whlle you contlnue shootlng
addltlonal lmages for the same ob. |f you then copy addltlonal les to the same orlglnal folder and want to make Llghtroom
aware of them, you can choose to lmport the folder agaln, (Llghtroom wlll not lmport the orlglnal les agaln) or target the folder
ln the Llbrary module and slmply select Llbrary > Synchronlze Polder.
How Lightroom Works with Metadata from Other Applications
Llghtroom can understand changes made ln 8rldge and Camera Paw (the addltlon of metadata such as copyrlght or changes
made to color or tone). However by default, lf you open a le ln 8rldge and make changes to the metadata, Llghtroom wlll NOT
automatlcally update the metadata. Llghtroom wlll warn you that the le has changed outslde of the appllcatlon (by dlsplaylng
an lcon ln the Grld vlew). ou can then choose whether or not you want to use the updated metadata from 8rldge/Camera Paw
or use the lnformatlon ln Llghtroom's database (cllck the lcon to choose, or select Metadata > Pead Metadata from Plle to replace).
Addltlonal software appllcatlons that follow the XMP standard should also be able to read/wrlte Llghtroom and Photoshop's
metadata.
Re-linking Files and Folders
|f les and/or Polders have been moved (behlnd Llghtroom's back!), Llghtroom wlll loose the llnk to the le and dlsplay a "I next
to the mlsslng lmage ln the Grld vlew or next to folder ln the Polder panel. Cllcklng on the "I lcon wlll allow you to re-llnk any
les (Llghtroom wlll prompt you to nd the les that you moved). ou can also re-llnk folders that have been moved or renamed
by Control (Mac) / rlght mouse -cllcklng on the folder name ln the Polders panel and choose Update Polder Locatlon. Choose
Llbrary > Show Mlsslng Photos too qulckly see all mlsslng photos.
