Beximco Pharma introduces 10 new products during Quarter 1, 2011

Leading drug manufacturer Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (BPL or Beximco Pharma) has introduced ten new products (eight generics) during January to March 2011. Odycin ophthalmic solution (sterile eye drop) contains Moxifloxacin and is indicated for the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis caused by susceptible strains of the following organisms. Moxifloxacin belongs to a group of medicines called fluoroquinolone antibiotics. It works by killing conjunctivitis causing bacteria. Odycin is available in 5 ml plastic dropper bottle. Each ml contains Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride BP equivalent to Moxifloxacin 5mg. Limogel ointment is a preparation of Lysine hydrochloride. It is an essential amino acid & soluble in water. It promotes healing of wounds by active and controlled regeneration of cells. It also protects the wounds against common organisms. It plays an important role in the formation of collagen, a substance important for bones and connective tissues including skin, tendon, and cartilage. It is indicated in the prevention of infection in cuts, wounds abrasions, surgical incisions, burns, advance chronic wounds and infected traumatic lesions. Limogel is available in 25gm laminated tube. Each gm ointment contains 150mg of Lysine hydrochloride USP. Nutrimin intravenous infusion is a preparation of 5% composite Amino Acid along with

D-Sorbitol and Electrolytes. Amino Acid is indicated as a source of amino acids for protein synthesis in patients needing intravenous nutrition. This is particularly suitable for patients with basal amino acid requirements. Amino acid is also indicated in faster recovery in surgery, burns, renal insufficiency, hepatic insufficiency and effective management of cancer. Nutrimin IV is available in 500ml glass bottle. Misopa tablets contain either 100mcg or 200mcg of Misoprostol. Misopa tablet helps to prevent stomach ulcers in patients using nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDS, drugs commonly used for arthritis, inflammation, and pain). Misoprostol reduces the amount of acid produced in the stomach and protects the stomach lining from the effects of acid. Misopa tablets are available in 30s packs. Candoral oral gel is a preparation of Miconazole (2% w/w). It is indicated for the treatment of fungal infections of the mouth (e.g. thrush in babies and oral candidiasis in other age groups) and for fungal stomatitis occurring in association with dentures. Candoral is also indicated in prophylactic management of patients at high risk from opportunistic fungal infection. Limogel is available in 15gm tube. Lospan tablets contain either 10mg or 20mg of Baclofen BP. Baclofen is a muscle relaxant and an antispastic agent. Baclofen is the most commonly prescribed medication for relieving spasticity of Multiple SclerosisIt stops spasticity & spasm, maintains Muscle tone & reduces pain. It relives low back pain effectively. It is indicated for the sings and symptoms of spasticity, relief of flexor spasms and concomitant pain, clonus & muscular rigidity, spinal cord injuries and other spinal cord injuries. Lospan tablets are available in 30s packs. Evo TS ophthalmic solution (sterile eye drop) contains Levofloxacin and is indicated for the treatment of corneal ulcer caused by susceptible strains of the following bacteria: Gram-positive Bacteria- Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Viridans group streptococci, Gram-negative Bacteria, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Serratiamarcescens. Evo TS is available in 5 ml plastic dropper bottle. Each ml contains Levofloxacin INN 5mg. Olopan DS ophthalmic solution (sterile eye drop) contains Olopatadine and is indicated for the treatment of the signs and symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis. Specifically it is used to relieve itchy eyes due to allergic conjunctivitis. Olopan DS is available in 5 ml plastic dropper bottle. Each ml contains Olopatadine Hydrochloride INN 2mg. END
