This column is produced by the Financial Planning Association and provided by Al Procaccino, a member of FPA and Certified Financial Planner with Castle Financial www.castlefinancial.com . Here are some of the highlights of the key tax changes that will affect our 2008 returns: Wider tax brackets: In one of the rare cases in life where inflation looks like a good thing, all tax-bracket thresholds will be increasing. For a married couple filing a joint return, for example, the taxable-income threshold separating the 15-percent bracket from the 25-percent bracket is $65,100, up from $63,700 in 2007.

BUSINESS
(NUI) - Financial security and freedom is a goal many Americans are in search of. However, when most people receive their paycheck, bills come first and spending money comes second - rarely leaving any for savings. But these actions, which we may consider as being responsible, may be a faster track to the poorhouse than to riches. Research shows that an early and stable savings account is the foundation for fortune. Many personal financiers support the idea of "reverse budgeting," which promotes paying yourself first - not your creditors. "With reverse budgeting, the first payment should be to yourself," says Eric Solis, CEO

of SAVE252. It's easy to get started - just pick a goal to save for, such as retirement or a plasma TV, decide on an amount you can commit to for at least six months and deposit that money into your brokerage, mutual fund or retirement account. Do this even if you think you can't afford it. Then, pay your other bills as usual. If you find that you do not have enough money to cover all the expenses, write down the amount you are short, and then find a way to raise the money. It may mean that you have to brew coffee at home, or take lunch to work a few days a week. Ask yourself, "Is the pain of giving up my perks greater than the pain of being in financial bondage?" After just a couple

Fashion Your Ideas Around Crafting This Year
(NUI) - This year, the Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) combined the popularity of general crafting with the latest fashion movement to create "fashion crafting." As the focal point of crafting this year, consumers are encouraged to create handmade, personalized couture and accessories. The U.S. fashion industry accounts for over $180 billion in sales of apparel and accessories, according to NPD Group, a leading global research firm. According to the Craft & Hobby Association, fashion crafting accounts for $6.1 billion in annual sales. With 63 million households crafting each year, the majority of Americans are crafters even if they don't know it yet. Fashion crafting is a great opportunity to introduce crafting to a new generation of would-be crafters. "The styles that we see in home and apparel stores are easy to recreate," said Terri Oullete, national spokesperson for CHA and author of "Terri O.'s Easy Embellishing." "Whether someone's Generation Y or a Boomer, always crafts or has never crafted before, they can find a wide variety of tools and products at any craft store to help them make their own version of the trendiest looks." Here are some tips and ideas from Terri O. for fashion crafts that can help you celebrate your personal style with items already in your closet and a few products from the local craft store: Embellish a pair of jeans using glue-on crystals to create a designer look for less. Use fabric and doublestick tape to enhance the heel of your favorite pair of black pumps. For kids, use iron-on appliqus and specialty fabric pens to turn a basic backpack into a personalized fashion accessory. Using hot glue, attach a beaded trim to the seams of a casual clutch to take it from daytime casual to evening elegant. Lost an earring? Use basic jewelry-making tools to turn your remaining earing into a pendant perfect for your favorite charm bracelet. Don't Let Winter Weight Gain Ruin Your Day in the Sun
(NUI) - Springtime weather is a great way to spice up a person's mood. You can go for a bike ride, a hike or just relax with the sun on your face. With the feelings of springtime comes the realization that summer, swimming and swimsuits are right around the corner-not to mention the realization of the extra pounds you gained during the winter. However, a great company with a new collection full of ingenuity gives women hope. Miraclesuit is consistently recognized as a world leader in creating and designing figureenhancing swimwear. Many women wait until it is too late to start exercising and dieting so they will look great by the pool or on the beach. This swimwear gives these women hope that their dreams of standing out in the right way will come true. Traveling all over the world for inspiration, Miraclesuit's design team are never hesitant to ask everyday women what they are looking for in swimwear, especially focusing on what will make them feel confident in swimwear. It is through this dedicated practice and attention to detail that they have earned a loyal client base. When a woman tries on one of these swimsuits, she appears to lose ten pounds in ten seconds. This is accomplished through Miratex, a technologically patented fabric that has more than three times the amount of spandex found in any other swimsuit. This secret weapon shapes, contours and slims the body to the delight of one's eyes and leaves the wearer feeling comfortable, sexy, beautiful and confident. This is not only a very quick fix for those who have avoided exercise, it is also great for foodies who love to indulge themselves while on vacation. But don't forget you will look fantastically stylish and 10 pounds thinner. In a Miraclesuit, you can now have your cake and eat it too! For more information and where to find Miraclesuit, visit www.miraclesuit.com.

(ARA) When was the last time you really cleaned your house? Maybe it was just before the last holiday party or the last time someone you wanted to impress announced plans to visit. You probably organized the clutter, vacuumed, dusted and scrubbed. That day, millions of germs disappeared, but now theyre back and lurking everywhere from the kitchen to the bathroom. According to the Hygiene Council, an organization of infectious disease and public health experts, the toilet bowl, kitchen drain and sponge are among the most common household germ havens. The toilet bowl alone contains an estimated 3.2 million bacteria per square inch. The kitchen drain harbors more than a half million germs and an average sponge is home to more than 100 thousand germs per square inch. There are simple things that can be done around the house to keep germs under control. Stacey Kannenberg, a germconcerned mother of two, author
Ideas for Decking Your Back Yard this Spring and Summer
(ARA) - More Americans than ever are turning to their back yards for spring and summer enjoyment, and decks have become the center attraction. You'll want your deck in tip-top shape this season for relaxing and entertaining. If your deck is showing its age, now is the time to consider improvements. Rather than dealing with the hassle of annual maintenance such as scraping, power washing, staining or painting, many homeowners are replacing their wood deck with a lowmaintenance composite decking product. Composite decking material is typically made of wood fibers mixed with plastic to create a low-maintenance alternative to pressure-treated wood. It may cost more than wood initially, but won't splinter and requires only periodic cleaning. Most composite decking is considered lowmaintenance because it never requires painting or staining. Longer limited-warranties are another benefit offered by composite decking products such as EverGrain Decking by TAMKO. The decking comes with a 25-year limited warranty against rotting, splintering, splitting and termite damage. Several manufacturers offer these types of products - so it's important to research different options to select the product that's right for you. An easy way to upgrade without replacing your deck is by installing a composite railing system. Railing systems instantly improve the look of a deck by adding a finishing touch and they also improve safety. "Composite railing systems are a fantastic way to enhance the overall appearance of your deck," says Stephen McNally of TAMKO Building Products, Inc. "Many options are available when choosing a railing system, but homeowners should consider several factors before making a selection, such as safety, maintenance, durability and aesthetics." Demand is increasing for decks with customized railing systems, according to a recent study by Principia Partners. Principia reports that homeowners often customize railing systems to differentiate their deck from their neighbors. Today, bigger really is better when it comes to a deck. Some homeowners are opting
for non-traditional design including large-scale, multilevel decks that incorporate fireplaces, hot tubs, televisions just about anything you can think of. They're also concentrating on building a deck that fits their own personal style. The new rule of thumb with deck design seems to be anything but square.
When considering alternatives for improving your deck, remember that personalization is key. Think of your deck as an extension of your home. Try personalizing your deck the same way you would a living room. This will enhance the outdoor living experience for you, your family and friends.

hearing loss is untreatable. However, even when doctors and audiologists suggest a hearing device, parents can still be hesitant and often minimize the impact of the child's hearing loss. Why was Tyler's Coffee picked as starworthy? It's acidfree makeup and rich flavor, the result of South American Arabica beans combined with a newly developed roasting process, make this coffee a more healthful, tasty choice - which was almost unanimously agreed upon by the selection committee. "Our coffee has a smooth taste without the negative side effects of acid-based coffee," said Ornstein. "It is an honor to have my coffee picked by the committee and to be recognized for our superior product." Acid-free coffee is a safer variety both for your teeth and your stomach. High-acid foods and drinks can wear down the outer layers of your teeth, which means an acid-free coffee devoid of any sugars or non-dairy creamers could help reduce your risk of developing cavities - a threat that is especially prevalent in drinks that are slowly sipped. Natural acids in coffee can also wreak havoc on the digestive tract, so an acid-free variety can keep you energized without the need to reach for the antacids. The "Z-roasting" process closely monitors roasting to ensure the coffee remains acid-free. "We have mastered the acidfree process and know our coffee is one you can feel better about," said Ornstein. 'WATER' YOU WAITING FOR? ADVENTURE AWAITS IN COLORADO
(ARA) White-water rafting and kayaking: They define Colorado adventure, help forge friendships and, right now, are roaring into action. Thanks to this winter's snow, Colorado's 13 river systems are in tiptop shape for the state's white-water season. The rivers change in shape and feel each year because of the melted snow, or run-off. So water-lovers keep coming back each season for more surprises. From families seeking mellow float trips to experienced, death-defying thrill-seekers, people from all walks of life flex their paddle power on Colorado's rivers. River experts say rafters and kayakers will be able to enjoy sustained flows throughout the entire 2008 season on the Cache la Poudre, Arkansas, Animas, Yampa, Green and Colorado rivers. Flows are expected to be at their best across the state from mid-May to the end of June. Toward the end of the season in July and August, meanwhile, is when smoother waters prevail -making it perfect for float trips. To experience a white-water adventure in Colorado, trek to the high country for an overnight trip, or take a day trip as part of a camping adventure to the mountains. Alternatively, gather a troop of weekend warriors and cash in on group discounts offered by most outfitters throughout the season. Once there, get ready for the ride of your life. Colorado river guides know the rapids like the back of their hands, but they'll also make you laugh, cook for you and educate you on some of the flora and fauna indigenous to the area. Most river outfitters provide all of the gear you'll need. They are professional leaders and safety experts as well, so even if you are not a pro on the rapids, you can rest assured that someone is watching your back. The cool spray of white water is the perfect way for you to wake up the action hero within. Contact the Colorado River Outfitters Association at (303) 280-2554 or www.croa.org to launch your adventure today. For complete Colorado vacation information or to order a free official state vacation guide, log on to www.colorado.com or call (800) COLORADO.
