On April 1st, 2nd and 3rd, 2011, United Mountain Defense volunteers Matt Landon and others visited oil and gas well sites in Anderson County and Claiborne County, operated by Atlas Energy, Knox Energy and/or Miller Energy. We found one or more violations on each of these sites, listed below. 0011875 damaged solar panels; open tank battery; broken pipeline sign 0011878 Open well casing; dripping oil and water 0011516 oil on ground 0011535 abandoned tank battery 0011544 missing Knob or control device 0011578 solar panel damaged on ground 0011588 missing Knob or control device; open well casing with water 0011589 oil on ground dripping from pipe; oil on ground at containment tank 0011592 open drainage pipe with no endcap; salt deposit on wellhead, indicating leak 0011600 dripping wellhead; trash on site 0011699 open well casing 0011701 erosion, major gully and unseeded area; hillside with major erosion 0011707 no well casing

0011708 oil on ground; erosion and unseeded hills; major gully from erosion 0011710 oil on pipes and ground; no permit on pump jack; open storage tanks collecting rainwater; litter on site; leaky valve 0011712 oil on ground, oil sheen on water; large oil patch on ground; evidence of fire at site; erosion 0011715 damaged liner; oil on ground at pump jack; no sign on pump jack; large area of dead vegetation 0011832 leaking 0011849 oil on pipes and ground; no permit on pump jack; open storage tanks collecting rainwater; litter on site; leaky valve 0011864 gas leaking from wellhead 0011869 standing water around tank batteries; major erosion near tank battery; major gullies from erosion 0011868 extremely rusty pipe We also visited the Lake City Compressor station and found: a drainage ditch from compressor tank leads into the woods; litter on site; exposed refrigerant on barrel. The GPS coordinates for the Lake City Compressor Station are: 36 12 5 84 12 38.7 We also visited oil wells that we have already submitted complaints about on February 22nd and found that no action has been taken to rectify the violations we found at those sites. We will personally deliver a CD with video documentation to the Knoxville Field Office. In the meantime, please take immediate action on the wells listed.
