Mr. Lnnroth is a highly accomplish ed consultant and author with a long experience of international cooperation inv olving the Nordic countries, OECD, UN, ILO, and bilateral cooperation in Eastern Europe. As a contributing analyst, he will cover multilingual workforce develop ment, economics of linguistic diversity, and the European market for the indepen dent research firm. Previously, Mr. Lnnroth served as the Director-General, Directorate-General for T ranslation of the European Commission, the largest public language service in th e world. Mr. Lnnroth began his career at the Secretariat of the Nordic Council of Ministers in 1973 where he participated extensively in the development of state administration and cross-sectoral cooperation within labor, employment, social, educational, and economic policies. Having worked within the Finnish Ministry o f Labor until 1991 he went on to become Director at the ILO in Geneva. In 1996 h e joined the European Commission as Director in the Directorate-General for Empl oyment and Social Affairs, becoming Deputy Director-General in 2000 and Director General of Directorate-General for Translation at the Commission in 2004.
