MCOV MICRO-CAM OIL VALVES

B SERIES VALVES
The B series Micro-Cam Oil Valve capacities cover the normal range of most industrial combustion applications. These valves travel from 0 to 180, i.e., closed to full open, and have a linear flow curve at a constant differential pressure over the entire flow range. For example, the flow at valve position 18 is two times greater than at valve position 9.

F,G, & K SERIES VALVES

The F,G, & K series Micro-Cam Oil Valves are high capacity valves with the same basic construction and operating features as the B series except for minor design variations; 120 travel form closed to full open position to facilitate automatic control, and a non-linear flow curve at a constant differential pressure over the entire flow range. The nonlinear flow curve indicates that the flow is not directly proportional to the valve position. For example, the flow at valve position 12 is not necessarily two times greater than at valve position 6.

SELECTION
When choosing the proper Micro-Cam Oil Valve for a particular application, three basic criteria must be considered; actual pressure drop allowable through the valve in psig, maximum oil flow capacity in gallons per hour, and manual or automatic valve control. B Series Micro-Cam Oil Valves travel from 0 to 180, i.e., closed to full open, and F,G, & K series Micro-Cam Oil Valves travel from 0 to 120, i.e., closed to full open. For manual control, utilize the Capacity Table shown on page 1 to select the proper Micro Oil Valve. For automatic control, most control motors travel from 0 to 90, therefore the Capacity table on page 1 cannot be used. To select the proper Micro-Cam Oil Valve for automatic control, use the appropriate Micro Oil Valve (B Series or F,G, & K Series) flow Curve in MCOV Supplemental Data.

TO SELECT A MICRO-CAM OIL VALVE WITH MANUAL CONTROL: 1. Read horizontally across the top of the table, locate the column representing the actual pressure drop allowable through the valve. 2. Read vertically down the column until you reach a capacity which equals or just exceeds your computed maximum capacity. 3. Read horizontally to the left to determine the model number of the micro oil valve which meets your requirements. TO SELECT A MICRO-CAM OIL VALVE WITH AUTOMATIC CONTROL: Example: A burner requires 200 gph of No. 2 fuel oil at high fire with a 40 psig pressure drop across the valve. 1. Using the equation found on MCOV-4, calculate the Chart gph knowing the Actual gph and actual pressure drop through the valve as shown:

Q Actual gph = Q Chart gph x P psig / 25 psig

Q Chart gph = Q Actual gph P psig / 25 psig = 200 gph 40 psig / 25 psig = 158 gph
2. Using the B-Series graph found on MCOV-4, locate Valve Dial Position 9 on the x-axis, and move vertically up the graph to the position which equals 158 gph on the y-axis. 3. From this point, move vertically up the graph until you intercept the next valve flow curve line which is B-1/2-24.

MCOV MICRO-CAM OIL VALVES

L-CAM SERIES VALVES
The L-Cam Series Micro-Cam Oil Valves are utilized by Hauck in select asphalt burner packaged systems. The BL-Cam Series travel from 0 to 180, i.e., closed to full open, and the FL,GL, and KL-Cam series travel from 0 to 120. These valves exhibit a non-linear flow curve over the entire flow range, but are specially designed to maintain low flow rates at the opening valve dial positions. This maintains a lean low fire to ensure flame stability on Hauck asphalt burner package systems.
