This Sunday: ! Reections on Lughnasadh/Lammas

The ancients experience and celebration of Life issued out of the cyclic nature of Life, Death and Rebirth. The position of the sun in the sky and the status of the crop, all important to the community, was a time for the ritual ceremony of hand-fasting and for games of strength and skill. How we can draw on the ancient wisdom and practices of our ancestors and apply them to our lives today will be explored by Reverend Audrey Bloom, LCSW with Worship Committee Coordinator Chris Kirchner. The lm proles three south Florida families, including the story of a long-time lesbian couple (Summary attached). WLRN will be premiering the documentary August 25, and HealthState.org will be hosting outreach events in Miami and Broward that will feature a pre-broadcast screening of the lm and lmmaker/subject panel. All are welcome to attend. FLOWERS Have you ever wanted to donate owers for our sunday services but just couldnt nd the time to arrange it? Please call Iris Massey who is taking donations toward Sunday owers and she will arrange everything. (305) 661-8482 CHOIR NEWS There will be no choir rehearsal over the summer. Rehearsals will resume on August 25th.

SUMMER PASTORAL CARE Reverend Drew has been on vacation since June 15th, and Reverend Wendy does not ocially begin her work here until August 1. Between those days please call the oce to relay any pastoral needs. Susie will have a list of nearby ministers who are available and she will assist in making contact as needed.

NAME TAGS Are you tired of the plain string attached to your name tag? Many R.E. helpers are in the process of making new sparkly, beaded ones for your pleasure. Feel free to take one on the table next to the name tags in the hallway. We will be making more this Sunday for display next week. For more info see Sandy Howard. FINANCE MEETING NEWS There will be no nance meeting held on August 2, 2011. The next meeting will take place in September 6, 2011. UPDATE FROM REV. WENDY Jason and I thank you for the beautiful owers you sent him. He tells me they certainly brighten up his room. Jason continues to make progress. His new discharge date is planned for next Wednesday.

Young Adult Group Happenings

Saturday, August 13th the YA group will head out for an evening of art and culture, all are invited. We can meet at church to carpool at 7pm (I said 7:30pm, but that's when it starts).
