Invitation to the 32nd World Amateur Go Championship Shimane Tournament Outline


1. Tournament name: 32nd World Amateur Go Championship Shimane Tournament ~ 400th Anniversary of the Opening of the Port of Matsue ~ 2. 2. All games to be played on even, with Black giving a 6-point komi. 3. Time allowance of 60 minutes per player, followed by byo-yomi of 30 seconds x 3 times. Tournament clocks will be used for all games. 4. Tournament rules are The World Amateur Go Championship Rules. Any problems that arise will be settled by the referees. 5. The referees will be professional go players from the Nihon Ki-in and the Kansai Ki-in. 9. Awards 1. The winner will be given the title of 32nd World Amateur Go Champion and will receive an amateur 8-dan diploma from the Nihon Ki-in. 2. Winners of 2nd to 10th places will receive cups. 3. A player not placed in the top ten who has demonstrated fair play and fighting spirit will be awarded the Shizuo Asada Fighting Spirit Prize.

Supplementary Notes
1. Nationality Each player must have the nationality of the country he or she represents. 2. Travel expenses and accommodation expenses during stay in Japan The sponsors will be responsible for the following expenses for the 70 players and 4 guest officials. (i). Transportation for travel within Japan during the period of the tournament. (ii) Accommodation: Eight nights accommodation, from Thursday, 26 May to Thursday, 2 June. (iii) Meals: Meals from dinner on Thursday, 26 May to breakfast on Friday. 3 June. Players who for reasons of their own convenience arrive earlier than 26 May and/or stay longer than 3 June will themselves be responsible for all extra expenses incurred. The sponsors will take no responsibility for any extra expenses. 3. Guest officials (i) Four guest officials will be invited from the go organizations of the different zones. (ii) Guest officials will supervise and assist the players from designated zones and countries. 4. Registration: Players and guest officials are requested to return the following documents to the Tournament Office by 28 February 2011. (i) Completed entry form (using the attached document) (ii) Face photos (jpg colour digital photos, 5 cm x 5 cm) (iii) Copies of passports (the page or pages clearly showing nationality). (In the case of multiple nationality, please send copies of the passport for the country which you are representing.)

5. Check-in: (i) Whether arriving in Japan at Narita or Haneda, players and guest officials are requested to check in at the official hotel designated by the Tournament Office by the time indicated. (i) Players and guest officials should check in at the official hotel on Thursday, 26 May. Tournament schedule: 5/26 (Thurs): Enter Japan, check in 16:00~: Player registration 5/27 (Fri): Move to Shimane 15:00: Orientation/IGF DM 16:40: IGF GM 5/28 (Sat) 10:00: International goodwill match with locals 18:00: Reception 5/29 (Sun)~6/1 (Wed): WAGC tournament 6/1 (Wed): Closing Ceremony 6/2 (Thurs) a.m.: Sightseeing within Shimane Prefecture afternoon: Move to Tokyo evening: Arrive at Narita/end of official schedule (Further details will be given at the Orientation.) 7. Events: All players and guest officials are obligated to participate in all official events related to the tournament, such as the goodwill match. 8. Side events: Various optional tours arranged by Shimane Prefecture are scheduled to be offered during the period of the tournament. We will inform you directly of the details of these later.

9. Companions of players and guest officials: If a companion is staying with a player or guest official from 26 May to 3 June 4, the package cost is 90,000, which you should have ready to pay when you register. The package includes accommodation, travel within Japan, breakfast at the hotel, lunch at the tournament venue, and participation in the reception. 10. Doping test: Several of the prizewinners and several players chosen at random from the non-competition list will be subjected to doping tests. *For details, please refer to the IGF Statutes at: http://intergofed.org/about/antidoping.htm 11. Important points (a) Players or guest officials who commit any of the following infringements may have their participation in the tournament cancelled. (i) Non-arrival of entry form at the Tournament Offfice by the deadline. (ii) False entries on the entry form. (iii) Neglecting to send photos or photocopies of passport. (iv) Failure to check in at the designated hotel on 26 May. (b) If you need an official invitation and/or a guarantee from the Tournament Office to leave your country, please check what documents are necessary at your nearest Japanese embassy, and note this in the appropriate column on the entry form. Please note that while in principle we will include in the official invitation the dates of arrival in and departure from Japan that you request, we will be responsible for your expenses only for the period noted earlier. (c) Please refrain from wearing clothing such as short pants, sandals, jeans, T-shirts, or similar items at all WAGC events.
