Day for Life : Rejoice in Hope, be Patient in Suffering, Persevere in Prayer. (Romans 12:12) This weekend we celebrate the annual Day of Life - that day in the Churchs year dedicated to celebrating the dignity of life from conception to natural death. This year the focus is on what it means to live a full and happy life. It takes as its starting point the words of the Holy Father during his visit here last year : Happiness is something we all want, but one of the great tragedies in this world is that so many people never find it because they look for it in the wrong places. The key to it is very simple - true happiness is to be found in God. We need to have the courage to place our deepest hopes in God alone, not in money, in a career, in worldly success or in our relationships with others but in God. Only he can satisfy the deepest needs of our hearts. There will be a retiring collection this weekend to support the Anscombe Bioethics Centre and other life-related activities supported by the Church in England and Wales. Lourdes at Home : Many thanks to all who assisted at the various services during our Lourdes at Home day and to all who gave of their time to attend - it was great to see so many here and a number of people have made very positive comments. We welcome back those in our parish who travelled to Lourdes and look forward to hearing of their experience. (Hopefully they will have dried out by now!!) Eucharistic Services : Please note that there will be no service at 7.30am this week. Also, there will be no Confessions on Saturday this week.
