"I demand from you deeds of mercy, which are to arise out of love for Me. You are to show mercy to your neighbours always and everywhere. You must not shrink from this or try to excuse or absolve yourself from it. I am giving you three ways of exercising mercy toward your neighbour: the first by deed, the second by word, the third by prayer. In these three degrees is contained the fullness of mercy, and it is an unquestionable proof of love for Me. By this means a soul glorifies and pays reverence to My mercy. Many souls ... are often worried because they do not have the material means with which to carry out an act of mercy. Yet spiritual mercy, which requires neither permissions nor storehouses, is much more meritorious and is within the grasp of every soul. If a soul does not exercise mercy somehow or other, it will not obtain My mercy on the day of judgement. Oh, if only souls knew how to gather eternal treasure for themselves, they would not be judged, for they would forestall My judgement with their mercy"
Through St. Faustina, the Merciful Savior has given the aching world new channels for the outpouring of His grace. These new channels include the Image of The Divine Mercy, the Feast of Mercy (Divine Mercy Sunday), the Chaplet, the Novena to The Divine Mercy, and prayer at 3 oclock in the afternoon, the Hour of Great Mercy. Although these means of receiving Gods mercy are new in form, they all proclaim the timeless message of Gods merciful love. They also draw us back to the great Sacrament of Mercy, the Holy Eucharist, where the living Lord, who suffered and died on the Cross and whose Heart was pierced with a lance, pours forth His mercy on all mankind, and grants pardon to all who draw near and honour Him. As Jesus told St. Faustina:
My Heart overflows with great mercy for souls, and especially for poor sinners [I]t is for them that the Blood and Water flowed from My Heart as from a fount overflowing with mercy. For them I dwell in the tabernacle as King of Mercy.
My daughter, tell the whole world about My inconceivable mercy. I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fount of My mercy. The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On that day all the divine floodgates through which graces flow are opened. Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet. My mercy is so great that no mind, be it of man or of angel, will be able to fathom it throughout all eternity. Everything that exists has come forth from the very depths of My most tender mercy. Every soul in its relation to Me will contemplate My love and mercy throughout eternity. The Feast of Mercy emerged from My very depths of tenderness. It is My desire that it be solemnly celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter. Mankind will not have peace until it turns to the Fount of My Mercy.
On another occasion, the Lord appeared in front of the Blessed Sacrament with a similar message. Margaret Mary describes the experience: Jesus Christ, my kind Master appeared to me. He was a blaze of glory --- His Five Wounds shining like five suns, flames issuing from all parts of His human form, especially from His Divine Breast which was like a furnace, and which He opened to disclose His utterly affectionate and lovable Heart, the Living Source of all those flames. It was at this moment that He revealed to me the indescribable wonders of His Pure Love for mankind: the extravagance to which He'd been led for those who had nothing but ingratitude and indifference. This hurts Me more, He told me, than everything I suffered in my Passion. Even a little love from them in return --- and I should regard all that I have done for them as next to nothing, and look for a way of doing still more. But no; all My eager efforts for their welfare meet with nothing but coldness and dislike. Do Me the kindness, then --- of making up for all their ingratitude, as far as you can.
Prayer for the Release of a Loved One from Alcohol or Drug Addiction Through the Divine Mercy and Love of Jesus Lord Jesus, I put myself into Your hands this day. I ask You, with all my heart, to cure the terrible addiction to alcohol (drugs) in ______________________. Create in them an intolerance for alcohol (drugs) that will prevent them ever offending those who love them again. And grant their loved ones the grace to forgive them for all the hurt they have caused. Through the Divine Mercy and Blood of Jesus, I also pray that they will be healed of all withdrawal symptoms of this terrible affliction. I sincerely ask this, in the Name of Jesus. Amen
