Quote from the Sermon Sunday

There are a lot of churches who are simply dying. They look around and they might say, our neighborhood is changing. That is surface. Or we dont have the money to survive. That is surface. The real issue is people dont want to change whether that be methodology or getting out into the community where invitations are given to family, friends and neighbors to It is an inward (heart) issue.

On Line Issue Circle Drive Church

100 Circle Dr. P.O. Box 184 Bridge City, TX 77611 409.735.4819 Jack Comer, Jr. Pastor I had an uncle that passed away last week. He was my dads oldest brother and up to this point, was the oldest living Comer. He was a very devote Christian, having served faithfully in several areas at the Bethel Baptist Church in Houston. But what I remembered most about Uncle Cecil, is that he was a POW during WWII. In fact, he was imprisoned at one of the most notorious German prison camps, Stalag 17. Now my uncle didnt talk much about his days as a POW, but I remember as a teen reading the letters that he sent to my grandparents. Most of them had information that was cut out, so you would be reading a letter that had several holes in it. One of the comments that I remember was how Cecil looked forward to the Red Cross packages that were sent. These packages included items like canned tuna, cheese, dehydrated milk, cigarettes, chocolate, liver paste and raisins. Now they were suppose to be receiving these packages every week, but according to sources the enemy would take these care packages and use them for themselves. I share this story to you because I think it illustrates what is happening today. People today are in a prison. There is so much hopelessness and despair. And it is only through the red blood stained cross that freedom can be found. As Christians we are the ones that are delivering a message of hope. But often the enemy steals the message before it even arrives. So we need to keep sending the message. Keep preaching the gospel. Keep ministering to people in need. Keep offering Christ to a dying world. With the understanding that one day, it will make a significant difference in ones life. Thanks uncle C. for serving our country! You and others like you, are already missed.

Clyde Annandale to Perform at CDBC

CDBC has partner with the Southern Baptist of South East Texas to bring performer Clyde Annandale to southeast Texas on Nov 6th. Annandale masterfully portrays 52 distinct characters ranging from his well-known one-eyed seaman in Horses to Jesus in The Upper Room . His work has taken him far and wide. He played King David for Benjamin Netanyauh at the 50th anniversary of the statehood of Israel. Clyde portrayed Jesus before the Mayor of Jerusalem and five thousand of his friends in the Jerusalem Convention Center. He traveled to Bosnia as the war ended to research and write Tale of Medjugore, named Best Dramatic Production by an Atlanta Playwright in 1997, also receiving coverage on the popular TV Show, 20/20. But Clyde makes it clear that his acting skill is the tool he uses to recapture the raw power of the life of Jesus. Clyde lived, performed, and researched in Jerusalem much of 1998- 2001. He wrote many of his scripts sitting on the shores of the Sea of Galilee and in cafes in Jerusalem. His portrayals evaporate two millennium of theological discussion and suddenly the audience is shoulder to shoulder with a band of salty fisherman staring into the face of the mysterious renegade Rabbi. It is a privilege for CDBC to host such a performer that makes the Bible come to life. Youll not want to miss this Sunday and youll want your family and friends to be in attendance.

South East Texas Rally

The South East Texas Baptist Association will be having an Associational Rally at the First Baptist Church of Winnie, this Sunday, August 7th, at 6 PM. Special guest Jon Sheptock will be engaging us into a time of worship. Jon truly has an inspiring story, in that he was born with no arms and was given to the state of New Jersey to be raised in the foster care system. (see jonsheptock.com for details) He has appeared numerous times on the Bill Gaither Homecoming Series. Lets all make a special attempt to attend this event for our hearts will be blessed and our lives encouraged. Toy Drive
During the month of August, we will be collecting toys that will be distributed during Christmas through the Bridge City/Orangefield Ministerial Alliance. This has been one of our ministry projects that CDBC has been a part of for several years. It is so rewarding to see families over the Christmas holidays so thankful for your efforts. Maybe you would like to get your co-workers or class mates to participate in this project. Please start bringing those balls, puzzles, cars, dolls and dishes and any other toys that might catch your eye this Sunday. And remember, we want these toys to be new.
