All equipment connected to the system must comply with the applicable safety standards. Hazardous voltages are present at the AC power supply lines in this electrical equipment. Some components may also have high operating temperatures. Failure to observe and follow all installation and safety instructions can result in serious personal injury or property damage. Therefore, only trained and qualified personnel may install and maintain the system.

Deshalb darf nur geschultes und qualifiziertes Personal das System installieren und warten.

Caution:
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with EN 301489. Its class of conformity is defined in table A30808-X3247-X910-*-7618, which is shipped with each product. This class also corresponds to the limits for a Class A digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a commercial environment. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the relevant standards referenced in the manual Guide to Documentation, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. For system installations it is strictly required to choose all installation sites according to national and local requirements concerning construction rules and static load capacities of buildings and roofs. For all sites, in particular in residential areas it is mandatory to observe all respectively applicable electromagnetic field / force (EMF) limits. Otherwise harmful personal interference is possible.

1 General
i
The CE declaration of conformity for the product will be fulfilled if the setup and cabling is undertaken in accordance with the specification in the manual and the documentation listed there, such as mounting instructions, cable lists etc. Where necessary, account should be taken of project-specific documentation. Deviations from the specifications or independent changes during setup, such as use of cable types with lower screening values, for example, can lead to the CE requirements being violated. In such cases the CE declaration of conformity is invalidated and the responsibility passes to the person who has caused the deviations. The applicable technical standards and regulations are listed in the Terminology Guide to Documentation A30808-X3247-K-52-x-7635. This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class A digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference when the equipment is operated in a commercial environment. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instruction manual, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. Operation of this equipment in a residential area is likely to cause harmful interference in which case the user will be required to correct the interference at his own expense. For the US market the following note applies:- PCM ports are intended to be connected to a near-placed Listed CSU (Channel Service Unit) providing over voltage protection.

Purpose of the Manual


This document provides the information required for the installation of the Transcoder and Rate Adaption Unit (TRAU), rack configurated for balanced or coaxial PCM lines. In accordance with the GSM requirements, a TRAU provides a PCM line interface to the Base Station Controller (BSC) and four PCM lines to the Mobile Switching Center (MSC) PCM line to/from BSC can be redundant.

Site Requirements
Before starting the installation, the construction of the room in which the operation and maintenance equipment is to be housed must be complete and the room in good condition and dry heaters, if necessary, should be put up in the room. Doors and windows, if any, must already have been installed and must be lockable. Openings in wall or ceiling of oor, if required, must be complete. The oor covering must have been laid. Room lighting and wall sockets must have been installed. Heating or air-conditioning systems should be ready for operation. Walls and ceilings should have been painted. The room must be clean. To prevent subsequent accumulation of dust and dirt, the parts and equipment units to be installed must be unpacked outside the room (if possible). After that it is advantageous to install the OMS-B equipment, after all other installation works to create the required infrastructure (power supply, PCM30 lines ...) are complete.

1.4

Station Conguration
The TRAU functionality is mechanically arranged in two variants: - TRAU rack able to manage up to 480 TCH (Standard configuration) - TRAU-HC rack able to manage up to 960 TCH (High capacity configuration)

1.4.1

TRAU Standard
The TRAU Standard rack (S30861-C21-X), which is configured according to the ETSI standard (h=2000mm, l=600mm, p=300mm) (h=78.7,w=23.6,d=11.8) can accommodate up to 4 TRAU subracks equal each other and equipped with the same boards (files BC, EF, HI and MN). Every subrack includes a fuse and alarm panel (files A, D, G and L). Files A, D, G and L relate to the backplanes of the TRAU subracks with the connectors for internal and external connections. A lamp panel is equipped in file T. The sensor of the Open Door Alarm (OPDS) is equipped in file O. The TRAU rack includes up to 4 subrack (4 TRAU modules) The subrack (H=420mm (16.5), W=533mm (21), D=249mm (9.8) includes the interfaces to the BSC (BSCI) and the MSC (MSCI) , the transcoders (TRAC) and the cable connection zone to the RCAP of the rack. TRAU subrack capacity (depending on PCM line type): One PCM line with 120 or 96 16kbit/s channels to/from the BSC. Four PCM lines with 30 or 24 64kbit/s channels to/from the MSC. This capacity corresponds to 15 or 12 TRXs (full rate) located in the BTS (radio measures pre-processed in the BTS).

Note 1: Boards in position 44 and 48 are for redundancy purposes. Note 2: All the TRAC boards of a TRAU subrack are always equipped at the factory, irrespective of the number of channels of the PCM line coming from the BSC. One board (out of the equipped six) is for redundancy purposes. The TRAU Fuse and Alarm Panel (TFAP) (H=116mm (4.6), W=533mm (21)), accommodates the fuses through which the primary power is brought to the equipment, the LEDs displaying the equipment alarms, and the SUB D 15 connector interfacing (V.11) the Local Maintenance Terminal (LMT). The rack is equipped with an alarm panel placed at the top of the rack which can be attained by removing the front cover. The racks have a door mounted. Therefore a new alarming mechanism is introduced detecting when the door is left Open (see detail x in Fig. 2.5). The relevant TRAU Open door alarm is managed by SW and treated as an internal alarm. A sensor is cableconnected to the first TRAU shelf of the rack, indicating when the TRAU door is Open. The TRAU rack configuration is modular in accordance with the number of the transcoders to be equipped. The number of the transcoders depends on the number of traffic channels coming from the BSC. Every TRAU subrack can be equipped with 5 (+1 redundant) transcoder boards (TRAC). Every TRAC board handles up to 24 traffic channels. Fig. 1.2 shows a picture of the TRAU Standard rack fully equipped and Fig. 1.3 with flame-guard door and fan units in file H.

TRAU-HC
The new TRAU-HC (S30861-C37/C41-X) rack has the same footprint as that the previous TRAU Standard rack, mechanical dimensions h=2000, l=600, p=300 (h=78.7, w=23.6, d=11.8) , but each rack includes up to 4 Frames (8 TRAUs) (Fig. 1.5). Fans are included for heat dissipation (Fig. 1.4). No power supply card is necessary because all the cards have a DC/DC converter on board. The weight, fully equipped, is 130 Kg (286 lb). The rack is equipped with an alarm panel placed at the top of the rack which can be attained by removing the front cover The racks have a door mounted. Therefore a new alarming mechanism is introduced detecting when the door is left Open (see detail x in Fig. 2.19). The relevant TRAU Open door alarm is managed by SW and treated as an internal alarm. A sensor is cable-connected to the first TRAU shelf of the rack, indicating when the TRAU door is Open. The new TRAU frame can be mounted on the old rack by using the Extra Adapter Board (S30861-U725-X) mounted into the DC-Panel. In that case, as the RCAP board is the same as that of the Standard configuration, the number of channels cannot exeed 480 TCH. The TRAU rack configuration is modular in accordance with the number of the transcoders to be equipped. The number of the transcoders depends on the number of traffic channels coming from the BSC. Each TRAU module is functionally independent from the other ones and can be equipped with 5 (+1 redundant) transcoder boards (TRAC). Every TRAC board handles up to 24 traffic channels. Fig. 1.4 shows a picture of the TRAU HC fully equipped. Leds, lamps, signallings and alarms reporting have the same philosophy as that of the Standard configuration (Fig. 1.4 and Fig. 1.5) except for the Fan-alarm and Door-open alarms. The Fan-alarm is reported on the TRAU_Right (odd numbered) and the Dooropen-alarm on the TRAU_Left (even numbered). So to manage both the alarms, the presence of two TRAUs at least, within the same subrack, is necessary. .

Installation Activities
The installation activities for the BSS-TRAU rack consist of the following: Unpacking the rack and inspecting for visible damages Positioning the rack as per oor plan and anchoring it to the oor Grounding the rack Connecting DC power to the rack Note: The recommended torque value for the screws of the input terminal block is from 1.24 to 2.26 N x m (11 to 20 lb x in). 2 Mechanical Installation
2.1 Installation Tools

2.2

Equipment Delivery
Racks, devices, boards, cables as well as all installation material and relevant manuals are shipped in cartons or in wood boxes. Handle each container with extreme caution to avoid tipping. All boxes containing installation material have the following information printed on them or indicated in label W of Fig. 2.2 and Fig. 2.3: trade-mark customer order number serial number of rack or other equipment destination gross and net weight overall dimensions symbol or inprint to identify the "Top" or "Bottom" For transport of the cartons from the unloading area into the construction room use handling aids (for example: fork-lift truck, goods elevator); a second person is needed for help.

2.3

Preliminary Checks
Check that the cartons are not damaged. In case of evident damage due to transport, unpack the equipment in the presence of an insurance company representative and promptly claim any damage and inform the shipper for specifying the damage. Check whether the package is actually addressed to the site and complete. Open it and take the contents out carefully. After having removed all contents from the packing material, check for deformation to the devices, of torn or unwelded wiring, of oxidized connectors, as well as deformed front sides of the units, loose screws, damage to paint work, etc.

2.4

Equipment Unpacking
During the unpacking steps great care must be taken to ensure that the equipment is not scratched or damaged in any way. The packing material should be preserved for possible future re-packing. In case of repacking or in the event that repacking material is supplied by the customer, special care should be taken to avoid damage during the transport and storage of the devices.

2.4.1

Rack Unpacking
With reference to Fig. 2.2 proceed as follows: Cut the straps 8 and 9 and remove the container cover 7. Take out the rack from the box 1 and the relevant wood support 2. Open the tubular shrink-wrap 5 protecting the rack and take it out. Remove the 8 dehydrating material bags 6 xed with adhesive tape. Remove the protections 3 of rack head and base and lift the rack to vertical position. Remove the 2 front proles 4 and the 2 rear proles 4 protecting the rack edges.

2.4.2

Devices and Boards Unpacking


With reference to Fig. 2.3 proceed as follows: Cut with a suitable knife the adhesive tape sealing the box 1. Take the device out. Remove the shaped proles in polystyrene foam 4. Remove the dehydrating material bags 3. Open the wrap 2 protecting the device/board and withdraw it. The packing material should be preserved for possible future repacking. To this purpose, reverse the procedure described above, taking into account the warnings specified for the packing. In case of repacking or in the event that repacking material is supplied by the Customer, special care should be taken to avoid damages during transport and storage of the devices.

Installation of the TRAU-Standard Rack


The TRAU rack is provided with proper metal eyebolts (G1 G4) for securing the rack during transport (see Fig. 2.5). The aluminium protection grid, in the upper part of subracks, is covered during transport and installation by a fender sheet which is to be removed after installation and which prevents damages caused by accidental falls of screws or other installation tools. The Y detail shows the ESD jack (CNB) for wrist (BR) strap connection. .For correct positioning of the rack, trace the drilling plan of the floor, whichever this is, using the plumb line, the square and the tracer. These procedures, relevant to the rack installation, adjustment and alignment, are valid for all types of rack configurations. Make sure the leveling feet (P1-P4) of the rack basement do not stretch out the basement level. Place the rack in vertical position, then make the reference pins of the alignment bar, to be aligned with the corresponding holes in the rack basement. Make sure the alignment bar is fully inside the groove of the rack basement. Remove the flame guard hex.socket head screws, M12, and washers from the hole for the expansion bolt M8. Put the rack in a vertical position so that the holes on the floor coincide with the holes of the rack basement. Adjust the leveling feet (P1-P4) of the basement to have the rack coinciding both vertically and horizontally in the correct position. Screw tightly the hexagonal bolts (M8x10) of the upper anchorage, then the hexagonal expansion bolts (2xM8x25) of the floor by means of a 13mm (0.5) socket wrench. For elevated floor, use proper (2x5x30 Din 97/UNI 702) self-thread screws and tighten them firmly.

The rack has to be connected to the site specific ground system before to starting the connection of the power cable. To grounding the rack has to be used the Grounding kit (Fig. 2.8 ).

Mounting instruction of the grounding kit (see Fig. 2.10): Remove the grounding cable (if it is connected) from the RGB bolt (corresponding to pos. 2)) on the top of the rack. Remove yellow ground label 4) Remove ground connection nut 2), washers and the screws 3). Place as shown the ground plate 1) and replace nut and washer 2). Grounding cables kit To grounding the rack use a 16mmq/5AWG or 25mmq/3AWG PVC Ye/Gr copper wire. The connection should be connected to a main wire or to a ground bar on the shortest way. Mounting procedure of the external ground wire: Use the nearest ground system on site. Verify the distance between the connection points of the ground system and the ground bolts of the rack. Cut the wires to the required length. Unsheet the wire at the end and crimp a two-hole M6 lug terminal (i.e. Thomas & Betts type 54852BE blue color for 16mmq/6AWG or 54856BE brown color for 25mmq/3AWG). Remove hexagon nut 4), contact washer 3) and washer 2) of the ground plate assy. Connect the prepared wire to the ground plate assy by a two-hole lug terminal. Replace the hexagon nut 4), contact washer 3) and washer 2). Tighten the hexagon nut rmly.

Earthquake Kit for the TRAU-Standard Rack.


Earthquake Kit, available separately, allows the TRAU rack to be resistant to earthquake zone 4 strains, according to the NEBS requirements.

This kit is available only for S30861-C21-X rack starting from issue 06 on. The kit for TRAU-Standard (MK: EQ4V1 - S30861-K105-X) consists of (Fig. 2.16): 1. 2. 3. 4. The Earthquake Kit allows the TRAU rack to conform with the Bellcore specification and is mandatory for the U.S. market. The concrete floor shall have the compressive strength of 30 N/mm2 minimum With reference to Fig. 2.14, Fig. 2.15 and Fig. 2.16 proceed as follows: 1. Mark oor holes. 2. Drill a 90mm (3.54) deep hole (18 mm (0.71) diameter hole) for each Anchoring screw. 3. Using an appropriate vacuum, clear the hole with a small diameter hose which can reach the bottom of the hole. 4. Take off the leveling feet (P1-P4 in Fig. 2.6 and Fig. 2.7) from the rack basement and, if necessary, extend the hole size to 20 mm (0.79) diameter. 5. Place the TRAU rack. The hole of the rack basement must t the hole on the oor. 6. Position the Internal Plates over the holes. Be careful not to let any debris fall into the holes. 7. Insert the anchor into the hole and tap the anchor down with a hammer until the washer contacts the rack internal plate. 8. Screw down the Anchor HSL M12/50 having 80Nm tightening torque.

The TRAU rack is provided with two proper metal eyebolts (G1 and G2) on the top for securing the rack during the transport (see Fig. 2.19.).

The Y detail shows the ESD jack (CNB) for wrist (BR) strap connection. The rack can be anchored on the concrete floor or raised floor in stand alone or back to back mode (see Fig. 2.23). After having installed the racks proceed as follows (see Fig. 2.26): Take the plane washer (dameter 10.5 DIN 934) in the correct position. Insert the bolt (M10 DIN 933). Pull out the cards of the down rack if they are inserted and take out the three guiderails on the right side and the two guide-rails on the left side (mark their slot position, so it is easier to reassemble them) 2. Mark oor holes (if the new rack replaces the old standard type you can use the previous holes by two anchoring screws S30861-K126-X kit (see mounting instruction below). 3. Drill a 105mm (4.13) deep hole (18 mm (0.71) diameter hole) for each anchoring screw. 4. Using an appropriate vacuum, clear the hole with a small diameter hose which can reach the bottom of the hole. 5. Take off the leveling feet (P1-P4 in Fig. 2.23) from the rack basement and, if necessary, extend the hole size to 20 mm (0.79) diameter. 6. Place the insulating plate and the TRAU rack on. The hole of the rack basement must t the hole on the oor. 7. Position the Internal Plates over the holes. Be careful not to let any debris fall into the holes. 8. Insert the anchors into the holes and tap the anchors down with a hammer until the washer contacts the rack internal plate. 9. Insert on the anchors the insulating bush, thei nsulating washer, the washer, and screw down the Anchor HSL M12/50 having 80Nm tightening torque.

The kit S30861-K126-X is an optional kit to fix the BT 960 HC rack on the holes of the previous TRAU rack (S30861-C20-X). It s consist of (refer Fig. 2.32): Nr.2 complete rod (item1) Nr.2 ring (item 2) Nr.2 insulating bush (item 3) Nr.4 washer (item 4) Nr.2 Xexagon nut M12 (item 5) Nr.1 label

With reference to Fig. 2.33 proceed as follows: 1. Insert the washer (item 2) on long threaded part of item 1 and the ring ( item 3) . Then insert, removed from HILTI HSL-B-TZ M12/50 anchor SIEMENS code V50089-B3-P100-7625 supplied with the kit S30861-K121-X the S30861-K121-X kit, the rubbing (item 4), the expansion cone (item 5) and screw the nut cone (item 6) 2. Insert the insulating bush (item 3) on opposite threaded part, insert the washer (item 4) and screw in the nut (item 5) 3. Position the Internal Plates, from S30861-K105-X kit, over the holes. Be careful not to let any debris fall into the holes andPut the two anchor so assembled in the holes 4. Insert the two so assembled anchor into the rear position hole and tap the anchor down with a hammer until the washer contacts the rack internal plate. 5. Screw down the anchor HSL M12/50 having 80Nm tightening torque with the M12 pivot frontal direction (Fig. 2.34 6. Place the TRAU rack on. The anchor must t the rear holes of the rack basement and the front holes of the rack basement must t the holes on the oor. 7. Position the Internal Plates over the rack basement. Be careful not to let any debris fall into the holes. 8. Mount the anchor V50089-B3-P100-7625 supplied with the S30861-K121-X kit on the front holes. 9. Insert on the rear anchors the insulating bush, the nsulating washer, the washer, and screw, by using a dynamometer at 80 Nm, the nut M12/50. (Fig. 2.35).

Remove exagonal nut, lock washer and contact washer from the ground bolt. Connect the prepared wire to the ground bolts by a two-hole lug terminal. Replace the contact washer, lock washer and hexagonal nut. Tighten the hexagonal nut rmly.

3 TRAU Power Supply


3.1 Requirements
The equipment shall be connected to a 48V DC SELV source which is electrically isolated from the AC source and which is reliably connected to earth.

The BSCIV4, as well as TRACV5 and MSCIV2, can be powered by the on board DC/DC converter and in this case the Power Supply Module (PWRS) is not equipped. The equipment and the strap configuration of these modules are described in the TRAU Maintenance Manual.

3.2

Overview
The TRAU rack has to be connected to a 48 VDC Power Distribution Rack (PDR). For reasons of reliability, two power suppliers at 48V start from PDR, each one provided with an individual protection. The two couples of conductors at 48V, are directly connected to the PP0 and PP1 terminals (max conductor cross-section is 10mm2) located on the Rack Cabling Access Panel (see Fig. 3.1). When connecting the power supply cables use different colors, like blue and black (or brown) and take into account that: PDR side: The BLACK conductor must be connected to the positive polarity of the secondary power and then to the protective earth collector; The BLUE conductor must be connected to the negative polarity of the secondary power. The BLACK conductor must be connected to terminal "+" The BLUE conductor must be connected to terminal "- 48V

Rack side:

The power supply units of the TRAU subsystem operate at a voltage of 48 V (range:38.4-57.6 V). They provide two output voltages +5,3 V and +12,3 V with a tolerance of +/- 2%. The power supply units are switched off in an irreversible way if the output voltage exceeds a protection threshold of +15%; if the output voltage drops below a protection threshold of -5%, the power supply units are switched off and then automatically restored when the voltage returns above the threshold value. Two power supply units, copy 0 and copy 1, are provided for the TRAU subrack. Each power supply is powered in an independent way and each module is powered by two independent conductors at -48V.

All the boards of the TRAU system, except TRAC boards, are duplicated and operate in activehot standby configuration. The copy 0 of the duplicated boards are powered by the power supply copy 0 and the copy 1 by the power supply copy 1. The TRAC boards, having a system redundance N+1, receive a double supply voltage, from power supplier copy 0 and power supplier copy 1, with decoupling diodes. Note 1: The choice of the breakers/fuses, to mount upstream (in a Power Distribution Rack) the TRAU rack, and the cross-section of the conductors, to connect between the Power Distribution Rack and the TRAU rack, should be based on the typical parameters of the installation (Power Station, ohmic resistance of the cabling, max voltage drop accepted on the TRAU power line, etc.). All these data are known to the Service people and are should be taken in order to have the right coordination of the protections. In a general way it is possible: to use an automatic breaker supplied by SIEMENS S.p.A. as an example of its characteristics: Nominal Current=20A; Single pole; Curve C; Type 5SY4 or 5SY6 connect the TRAU rack from a Power Distribution Rack to a distance of 30m (100ft), using a 10mm2 (7AWG) conductors cross-section

Primary Power Connection


Installation of the DC wires (see Fig. 3.1) is as follows: Verify the distance between the connection points of the Power Distribution Rack system and the terminals (on the RCAP) of the power entry of the TRAU rack. Cut the wires to the required length. TRAU rack side: unsheet the wires about 10mm (0.4) PDR side: installation dependent Remove the cover of the Power Line entry on the RCAP. Insert the wires into holes. Connect the prepared wire as follows: BLUE wire to Terminal -48V; BLACK (BROWN) wires to terminal +48V. Check the correct polarity of the connection from the TRAU rack and the DC output of the PDR. Replace the cover of the Power Line entry.

4 PCM and ALARM connection


This chapter provides the information required for installing the external cables between the TRAU rack (RCAP Fig. 4.1 and Fig. 4.2) and the infrastructure equipment on site. The rack cannot function without the following cable connections: an external -48VDC power supply. ground connection Abis interface optional: remote alarms interface Note: For what concerns interconnecting cables and cable assemblies used for external interconnection between parts of equipment or between components of system, the following directives apply to all countries that operate according to UL or CB certificate: For external cables longer than 3,5 m (approximately 10 ft), the following must be used: Listed CL-2 or Listed Communication Cable (DUZX), type CM or CMR, rated 150 Vac, 75C. For external cables less than 3,5 m (approximately 10 ft) the following can be used: Listed or constructed of materials rated minimum FT-1 or VW-1. Furthermore each detachable external interconnecting non-Listed cable with terminations must be identied by a tag or a non-permanent label reporting the logo "Siemens AG" and the "cables identifying designation"; marking applied on the cable at any location or locations. Two types of cables can be used for the Asub/A interface (PCM lines): coaxial cables (using an Adapter inserted on SUB-D37 connectors) balanced cables

4.1

Asub/A interface connection of the TRAU Standard rack


The Asub/A connection provides the communication links to the MSC equipment and to BSC equipment. The connection can be performed either coaxial cable or balanced cable. The Abis interface is terminated with the Overvoltage Protection (OVPT) that protects the boards inside the rack against overvoltage (residual voltage <1kV). The connector (SUB-D37) of the OVPTis mounted on the RCAP of the rack (see Fig. 4.1).

Use only coaxial cable for 75ohm wiring, e.g. INTERCOND 13-RJC19A12R-C1 (12x0.4/1.9) and relative 1.0/2.3 coaxial connector, e.g. COMPEL 350.064.050 or INTERCOND 11-RK23/4 (single coaxial) and relative 1.0/2.3 coaxial connector, e.g. COMPEL 350.064.054. Use onlybalanced cable 100/120ohm, e.g. INTERCOND 13-TDH26P12R-C1 12x2xAWG26 twisted shielded pairs (with drain wire) plus total braided shield and relative SUB-D 37 connector.

Cut the cable to the required length. Remove external jacket about 70 mm (2.7) Free all pairs from respective shields about 55 mm (2.1) (dont cut the drain wire). Connect the pairs as per Tab. 4.5 (connect to GND the drain wire of the pairs) using a SUB-D37 Male (e.g. CANNON ZDC37PA191). Close the connector with a shielded cap with screws M3 (e.g. FCT FMK4GK201+2FRS1Y5-K190-M3). Be careful: the outer shield of the cable must be in contact with the cable clamping of the said cap.

Preparation of the balanced cable on Installation side The connector type to be used is a site installation dependent; the choice of the right connector is Service people care. The following Fig. 4.5 shows a possible termination on a 6x30 terminal block of the Main Distribution Frame (MDF). Preparation of the Remote Alarm cable on Installation side The connector type to be used is a site installation dependent; the choice of the right connector is Service people care. The following Fig. 4.6 shows a possible termination on a 6x30 terminal block of the Main Distribution Frame (MDF). The wires color is the same color of the wires of the internal cable and is corresponding to the table CEI-UNEL 00724. The left part (*) of the MDF block in Fig. 4.6 can be used for alarms from BSC, when the BSC and the TRAU racks are co-located. All these alarm signals can be connected to output devices such as lamps, bells, horns, taking into account that the nominal loading of each relay contact is 0,3A/48VDC; only security voltages (60VDC max or 42,4Vpk max) can be connected to these circuits.

In the last lower subrack on the connector W14 takes place the Open door sensor cable. The two wires of the sensor are connected to pin number 3 and to ground (by the cableclamp of the shielded cap). Balanced cable connection


For Asub/A cabling 100/120ohm impedance use a balanced twisted shielded pairs (with drain wire) plus total braided shield and relative SUB-D 37 Male connector.

Preparation of the balanced cable TRAU rack side Cut the cable to the required length. Remove external jacket about 70 mm (2.7) Free all pairs from respective shields about 55 mm (2.1) (dont cut the drain wire). Connect the pairs as per Tab. 4.15 (connect to GND the drain wire of the pairs) using a SUB-D37 Male (e.g. CANNON ZDC37PA191). Close the connector with a shielded cap with screws M3 (e.g. FCT FMK4GK201+2FRS1Y5-K190-M3). Be careful: the outer shield of the cable must be in contact with the cable clamping of the said cap. Preparation of the balanced cable on Installation side The connector type to be used is a site installation dependent; the choice of the right connector and the arrangement on a possible terminal block to mount on a Main Distributor Frame (MDF) is Service people care.

Where RELAY-COMMON indicates the common point of the contact (CM), RELAYBREAK indicates the break point (no alarm) of the contact (BK), and RELAY-MAKE indicates the make point (alarm) of the contact (MK). Preparation of the Remote Alarm cable TRAU rack side Cut the cable to the required length. Remove external jacket about 70 mm (2.7) Cut the outer shield leaving about 10mm (0.4) to permit its contact with the campling of the cap. Connect the pairs as per Tab. 4.19 (the wire color is referred to the internal cable and is corresponding to the table CEI-UNEL 00724) using a SUB-D25 Male (e.g. CANNON ZDB25PA191). Close the connector with a shielded cap with screws M3 (e.g. FCT FMK3GK201+2FRS1Y5-K190-M3). Be careful: the outer shield of the cable must be in contact with the cable clamping of the said cap.

Preparation of the Remote Alarm cable on Installation side The connector type to be used is a site installation dependent; the choice of the right connector and the arrangement on a possible terminal block on a Main Distributor Frame (MDF) is Service people care. All these alarm signals can be connected to output devices such as lamps, bells, horns, taking into account that the nominal loading of each relay contact is 0,3A/48VDC; only security voltages (60VDC max or 42,4Vpk max) can be connected to these circuits.

The cable shield must be grounded at Installation (e.g. MDF) side

Front-Panel Board cabling


The Front Panel Board (S50201-Q54-X) is positioned in the DC-Panel in a TRAU subrack that includes two TRAU unit and provides the following functions: to display the TRAU alarms (4 leds for each TRAU) to connect the TRAU via LMT Evolution connector to exchange alarms to other units via DAISY CHAIN to remote the alarms on the top rack connectors (AW) to switch off the 48 V power supply in the frame by two 4A magnetothermic breakers.

5.3

TRAU HC Frame to mount in a TRAU Standard rack


It is possible to mount a TRAU HC Frame (S30861-B248-X) in a TRAU Standard rack (S30861-C21-X) by an Extra Adapter Board (S30861-U725-X).

5.3.1

Extra Adapter Board


The Extra Adapter Board is mounted on the Front-Panel-Board (S50201-Q54-X) in the DC-Panel. It provides the following function: to receive - 48VA and - 48VB from the bar of the rack and to power supply the Frame to distribute the Power-off alarm to the Frame to interface the signalling with the other TRAU Frames via DAISY-CHAIN.

The Extra Adapter Board is designed using pressfit connector apart from X7 (Fig. 5.22) that is a SMT solder termination 36 p. This connector needs to connect this board to Front Panel Board (on this board there is the same connector) via a pin strip (V50500C1-A8). Before inserting the finger of the X7 connector in the Front Panel Board connector (DA-CH), tighten the four screws on the Extra Adapter Board to fasten it on the Front Panel Board.

5.3.2

Replacement and expansion procedure


It is possible, in each frame, to replace a TRAU-Standard module with a TRAU-HC module using the TRAU-HC shelf, but if there is another TRAU in service in the shelf below it is allowed to equip only one TRAU (the first on the left side) because of TRAUs cables numbering. If there is no TRAU in the shelf below it is possible to equip both TRAUs of the TRAU-HC frame, provided the number of TRAUs do not exceed four. 7 Swap from TRAU Standard rack to TRAU HC rack


To swap the standard rack to HC rack proceed as follows: Disconnect all cables (rst of all: POWER SUPPLY) from the rack and position them in a zone where dont trouble. Take off the standard rack (according the site remove the expansion bolt used for xing the basement, the expansion bolt used for xing the rack to the wall, the Adaption used for securing the rack to the wall - see Chap. 2.5). Install the HC rack according the Chap. 2.6. Reconnect all cables according the site documentation and, if occur, according the Chap. 3 (TRAU Power Supply) and Chap. 4 (External Cabling Activities).
