This is an email update featuring developments in the field of disability from around the world. Because of the importance of social justice as a basis for our work, we added this as topic into our newsletter. A) Developments in the field of Disability 1. President Obama issues a Proclamation Celebrating the Anniversary of the ADA Today is the twenty first annivesary of the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act. President Obama issued the following proclamation celebrating that momentous event. Please follow link 26TH July 2011. 2. Asia Pacific Photo Contest on Accessible Tourism for Disabled & Elderly Societies that are full of obstacles confine people with disabilities from living independently in the community. Many people still refuse to provide disabled friendly facilities because seeing it as unnecessary extra cost. Beautiful Gate Foundation, Disabled People International Asia Pacific and JICA Malaysia are organizing the Asia Pacific Photo Contest on Accessible Tourism aimed to change the perception of providing disabled friendly facilities from extra cost to investment.
