the breadth and depth of the initiative is unprecedented
represent our nations top strategic priorities We are committed to undertake this transformation process
The KPl / KRA offer clear measures designed to ensure that the government is working to better serve the needs of Malaysians
these goals will hold my Government accountable to the Rakyat
I will be personally involved in reviewing the progress
involve deep commitment and high demands from civil servants
Our real work will begin as we make the transformation of government services happen
Six NKRAs Were Selected Linked To 1Malaysia

1) Reducing crime; 2) Fighting corruption; 3) Widening access to quality and affordable education; 4) Raising living standards of low income households; 5) Improving infrastructure in rural areas; and 6) Improving urban public transport (medium-term).

Crime is becoming a serious issue 5. Corruption Malaysias international transparency ranking has dropped From 43 (2007) to 47 (2008)* 6. Competitive Malaysias international ranking has dropped From 21 (CGI 2009-2008) to 24 (CGI 2010- 2009)** How do we fare on education outcomes compared to international standards?

Transformation programme is an excellent way to change the doing side of the equantion (i.e., focusing on the Key Result Areas) We will implement the KRAs using a new way of working (e.g labs, open-house / townhalls, etc) to deliver big result fast This new way of working will become institutionalised over time, thereby transforming the Government

Focus of Education N-KRA Lab

High Performing Schools
Create at least 100 high performing schools by 2012 with ethos, character and unique identity who continually pushes the boundaries of student excellence and share their expertise to lift the performance of other schools in system.

New Deal (Baiah)
Develop a new performance base assessment (i.e. on student outcomes) to evaluate school leaders with meaningful rewards and consequences for both top and bottom performers respectively.

Literacy and Numeracy (LINUS)
Every child will be able to acquire basic literacy and numeracy after 3 years of primary education by the year 2012.

Pre-Schools
Increase participation rate 5 year old children by 20% by the year 2012; and improve the quality of the system by making all government and private pre-schools part of the national education system.
