List of Tasks for Civil Engineering Students Research the Internet and find out the standards that

t exist for steel structures on the ground & concrete foundations in the Indian System of standards. (3 Weeks) Research and find a map/table that lists wind speeds in each district/state make a copy and store on file. Develop an MS Excel based model that will be able to give the forces acting on a steel/aluminum structure (as an indeterminate structure) based on user inputs such as wind speed, exposure category and self weight. The first step would be to generate the list of required parameters to generate this model. Using this model, the student should be able to generate the steel sizes and cross sections required for such a structure (2-4 Weeks) Develop a single page summary report on what kind of soils exist in the state of Gujarat, a simple classification chart that a non-civil engineering person can use to understand soil strengths. (1 week) Develop an MS Excel based model that will be able to generate foundation sizes and cross sections from user inputs such as foundation reactions in the structure, soil type and assumptions such as N values and lateral strengths. (2 Weeks) Before the end of the internship term, all the above objectives should be integrated in such a way that a non-civil engineering person will be able to understand and use the models for a preliminary analysis. (2 Weeks) Assist in preparing any autocad drawings as and when required by the engineering team for proposal and final designs. Brush up autocad skills to be able to draw/modify/print drawings.

List of Tasks for Mechanical Engineering Students Research and find out all the standards that are applicable to structures, their metal composition, painting and galvanizing procedures, analysis of corrosion, protection of metal surfaces. (2 Weeks) Assist in creating autocad drawings, modifying & printing them as and when required. Help in developing an automated washing rig that will be able to clean equipment like building walls that can be portable on the back of a truck like ACE/Piaggio/Auto. The rig should include a design to produce/use power,

carry a tank of water, some cleaning supplies/chemicals, nozzles for pressure spraying and mist spraying. (5 Weeks) The rig should be designed through calculations, designed on Autocad and then the produced designs will be prototyped. (2-3 Weeks)

List of Tasks for Electrical Engineering Students Research and find out all the Indian standards that are applicable to 440V and HT circuits, sub stations. Research and find out all the Indian standards that are applicable to equipment like LT & HT Panels, Transformers, Circuit Breakers, wire terminals and their appropriate ratings and protection. Research and find out all the Indian standards applicable to wiring and circuitry that is underground and overhead (both LT and HT). Compare and present the pros & cons of going overhead and underground. Make a list of all top/good quality equipment manufacturers for the above. Assist in developing Autocad drawings as and when necessary. Learn the basic symbols used in design to represent electrical components such as batteries, fuses, circuit breakers, isolators, LT & HT panels, Transformers and connection to HT grids. Develop a lighting plan for a factory with current and voltage drop calculations, wire sizes and a basic circuit drawing that a non-electrical engineer can use to calculate the materials & labor required to install such a plan. Develop the electrical plan and layout for the washing rig that is being developed b y the mechanical engineering students. Develop a table that will allow a non-electrical engineer to pick a wire size for a circuit based on current, voltage, voltage drop and distance.
