Coffee with Strong demand creates unprecedented value

08:46:42 Prices leaders of 60 kilo bag of coffee, between $ 533 and $ 550, have been one of the main motivations for the improvement of cultivation and increased investment by producers, especially in inputs. A year ago, the product was marketed for about R $ 270 was high and gradually throughout 2010. "Only in 2002 had rates similar to those that are being practiced today, but due to a low offer. However, it is the first time they have high wages with high production. This result is due to strong demand in both national and international scenario, "says the manager survey and assessment of harvests in the National Supply Company (Conab), Carlos Bestetti. According to the evaluation of the coffee market analyst Conab, Jorge Queiroz, the same trend of expansion of the Brazilian middle class and rising incomes of the population is happening in Asia and in Latin America itself. "People are increasing the power consumption, so the increase in commodity prices. The supply response does not follow the same pace, and today there is a mismatch between supply and demand, "he says. This scenario explains the unprecedented behavior associated with high production at attractive prices for the crop. As a consequence of mundana consumption habits worldwide, the trend is that the commodity will continue at a pace of recovery. "Depending on demand, there is still room for new high, albeit moderate, in the short and medium term," says Queiroz. The low product inventories in the world market also justify the race for the coffee. Last year, the worst hit is the

relationship between consumption and ending inventory from the 2000/2001 harvest, 19.1%. This means that world stocks accounted for less than 20% of what was consumed, a relationship which, in 2001/2002 was 91.3%. "This demand for coffee has also motivated the rebuilding of inventories, which are low," says Queiroz. For the harvest that begins now, the proportion will rise to 23.9%, still considered low. Despite the high salary and the attractiveness of coffee, there is hardly a general increase in the production area. "All other commodities are priced favorably, such as sugar cane and cotton, for example. So do not believe in a race to the coffee area with significant gains or replacement of culture, "ponders the Superintendent of Agricultural Economics and Policy of the State Secretariat of Agriculture, Joo Ricardo Albanez. "The investment in coffee production are very high. Who planted now will only begin harvesting in three years. Today it's time for those who already have the crop in production, "the superintendent's commercial Cooxup Lucio Dias.

High price of coffee is not the solution, says Gilson Ximenes

08:50:23 Despite the celebration of the media in general over coffee prices, some market analysts suggest that the high is not a solution for producers. The President of the National Coffee Council (CNC), Gilson Ximenes agrees and says that "the producer is experiencing a delusion and must face the reality that high prices are not the solution to a difficult situation in which they live," found. The Coffee Break asked in its survey "with the high prices of coffee, you (user site) thinks that the industry has settled and you forgot the debt and the lack of an effective policy?" in the audience who responded to the survey (coffee producers , sector leaders, employees of cooperatives), 85.3% believe that YES, prices eventually accommodate the industry and only 14.7% said NO. Gilson stated that it fully agrees with this result. "Most producers are not taking advantage of this high, it is not so spectacular as well, because the ideal price of a sack of coffee to be called 'good' is the minimum wage up," he said. The President of the CNC said that "no one net value received. What's more, the government moved in the price or minimum price, which continues to R $ 261.00 per bag and this needs to be raised to be assured, "he complained. To him, some optimists are wrong news, "in addition to being celebrating the high prices, which some said, a lot of people cheering you that much money for coffee. Of course there is no taker, after all, the producer is indebted, "he said. Gilson Ximenes said that the producer is experiencing a "moment of illusion. I've been talking and warning the leadership that we need to continue to fight a lot. Especially do not forget the past, "concluded the president of CNC.

CNA introduces new line of credit for the coffee

10:22:07 The new credit line of $ 300 million intended to finance the payment of debts that have been used exclusively in coffee production was presented by President of the National Coffee, Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil (CNA), Breno Mosque on Thursday Monday (12), the headquarters of the ANC, in Brasilia. Resources for this funding were approved by the National Monetary Council (CMN) and will come from the Defense Fund for the Coffee Industry (Funcaf). "This is great news for the sector, if properly applied, will solve many of the problems of the producers of this culture," Mesquita said. As president of the Commission, this form of financing has been discussed since last year with the aim of finding ways to help the producer to pay their debts. With this new line of credit, who are paying a loan or can no longer pay the debts, is entitled to the credit limit of $ 200,000, the interest rate of 6.75% per annum and the repayment period five years. To ensure that producers can sell their product for the best price, you can still incur through this financing, insurance price. With this format, the producer pays the premium per bag, following the quotation of the moment. This will set the minimum market price for these bags for five years. At the time of sale, during this period, if the price of coffee is below the agreed amount, the bank will pay the difference. Thus, the producer will be able to continue to rent and meet their obligations. The meeting was also addressed rural insurance. According to the superintendent of technical CNA, Rosemeire Santos, this instrument should be treated independently for each crop. "The fruit was safe for our first victory and will be available for the next harvest," he said. To do so, came to Brazil a reinsurer in Spain with experience in follow-up to go out and develop the right product for the needs of Brazilian fruit. "We intend to do the same for other crops such as coffee and aquaculture, which have high demand," said Santos Rosemeire. Attending the meeting representatives of the Federations of Agriculture and Livestock of the states of Gois (FAEG), So Paulo (FAESP), Santa Catarina (FAESC), Minas Gerais (FAEMG), the Federation of Agriculture of Paran (FAEP), the Bank of Brazil the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA), the National Coffee Council (CNC), production cooperatives, associations and unions of various rural regions of the country.

The alert is on
10:39:29 By Zeus The alert is on, I and most coffee growers, in these 10 years we have not had a fair wage, and as a consequence, we were in debt and losing our crops, I could swear that's a lie, a farce, saying that money earned last season and that's why we are trying our best crops and will produce almost equal the previous course, here in sponsorship have friends who will not produce a grain of coffee this year, and sold most of its production last season to an average of 240.00 bag, but it is a true and serious these cooperatives would be releasing this data, instead of standing and speaking in high yield encouraging poor farmers to plant more, to allow for some coffee in the world as a producer I see no advantage to be world record production this only makes prices fall, so we are in a dilemma, producing records is good for? for sure is that the producer is not. Saying that we may lose market is another lie, countries like Colombia have always produced less than in the cafe and always had a higher return, so my plea to not to plant more coffee to miss this because it is clear that if we have super crops will be our doom, as prices begin to fall knowing that even if inventories are low, we note a clear manipulation of data, to force us to sell our coffee, cheap to gain than others, the market is in the hands of people who want to kill the goose that lays golden eggs, coffee farmers I do not understand, why this preoccupation with being the world's first production, income and it never brought good results for the people and Brazilian producers, who wins from this are the speculators, multi national food and European countries and the U.S., who can buy cheap and abundant raw material. We have a good point in this scenario that occurred decades, these countries, multi-nationals, were investing in industries, shops, factories, dependent on our cheap coffee, and now need that coffee, in order not to damage or shut up shops and factories scattered the world. Our authorities should be more committed to the Brazilian people, especially for the producer and that with serious policies, we will use this asset for us.

The same problems and same solutions

10:42:03 Wagner Pimentel With today's interconnected markets, the solutions appear and return to the same solutions. Since the 2008 crisis, the solutions for the markets to issue paper money have been flooding the market of new money and generating inflation. This was done in Brazil on a large scale in the 80's and much criticized by the major economies of the countries and was the only solution for a long time in our country. Now what about the big savings is huge fiscal deficit, social security and to ease the crisis and play all the dirt under the rug, send money and generating inflation. It is easy to imagine that things will get ugly in the near future. Inflation devalues currency, more expensive productions and allow a greater number of people have money to consume. Consumption continues to grow with the population and the increased purchasing power, so it is hard to imagine that commodities may fall for a longer period. The achievements started a few weeks ago will continue for some time, but after that, figuring that most commodities has risen 100%, on average, and after almost a crash in 2008, many want to close their balance sheets and profits to pull your within the vaults. After these achievements and hobbled economies in Europe and asking for help, and the North American economy still skating, the solution of issue of paper money will come again as the only salvation of agriculture and the market will have even more money for speculation, which should come again to commodities. For our coffee market seems to me that the solution also comes in unison, it would be to industrialize the worst quality coffee, lowering the cost of the final product. For this solution the robust conilon comes as the first alternative for this industry and raw material that is historical in its price will appreciate even more, because even in high price still seems like the best solution at this time. We see this clearly when we observe the progress of the export of this type of coffee in Brazil, which in the past two months exported 430,000 60-kg bags, 130,000 bags in March 2011 and 300,000 in April 2011, which historically represents an evolution almost 500%, if we look at exports in January and February 2011. The demand for this type of merchandise made an imbalance in the domestic market, which paid two weeks ago for this type of coffee at around R $ 215.00. At the end of the week he was being traded at around R $ 250.00, an increase in the home of 16% in the last two weeks. The inventory released this week in consumer countries reflects the amount of coffee exported by Brazil over the last harvest, where we saw growth in stocks in more than two million bags, which in its latest report, December

2010, 21,056 million bags and closed last March in 23,181 million bags of 60 kilos coffee. The funds continued to leave their positions and sold contracts in 5000 decreased their positions, giving the impression that even at this pace will continue for some time. The offer continues, but summer in the northern hemisphere has decreased the consumption of inventory, increasing the demand for cafes and less problems in the northern hemisphere economies bring uncertainty and volatility in the coffee, which seems not yet found his stopping point. Technically it gets a little more complicated for producers. The chart on the closing last Friday at the minimum daily and engulfed the week when we had the biggest difference between the minimum and maximum weeks, with negative differential above 2400 points, the market shows strength, but this force is down which indicates a more paw achievements this week. The closing down 270.00 was seen as negative by the market and began designing a new movement in house prices of 253.00 cents per pound weight. We have in the house of resistance and disruption of 265.00 263.00 260.00 254.05 test which was the last fund. Let's wait and see how the market walk. CRP brokerage continues to work to end seller and bringing home positive trades, but knowing the grasp of Brazilian goods and winter approaching, we have a large risk management and stops short.

New Code worry scientists

10:43:14 The new proposal to reform the Forestry Code, introduced in Congress late on Wednesday last, caused concern in the scientific and exposed the lack of coordination of the new forestry law that Brazil intends to create with other environmental laws in the country, as national law on climate change. Experts consulted by the state, the new Forest Code could lead to more deforestation, which puts at risk the country's international commitments to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases. The new text submitted by the rapporteur Aldo Rebelo (PC do B-SP) has brought changes that did not please the government, which led to reform of the vote to be postponed again - no new date for the vote. "The text opens many loopholes to reduce environmental protection," says the former congressman and indigenous Mrcio Santilli, founder of the Socio-Environmental Institute (ISA). Among other things, the proposal creates an incentive to the division of large estates in the country by allowing property tax of up to four modules - between 20 and 400 hectares, varying according to the city - no longer required to recover the legal reserve. "This is already happening in the registries by the interior and make it harder to control by environmental agencies." Santilli agree that it is necessary to update the Forest Code, which dates from 1965, but believes that the proposed text reflects the lack of a comprehensive environmental policy for the country "There is an inconsistency between the standards set by the Legislature. If approved, this Code Forest will not talk to the Climate Change Bill and the Law of the Atlantic, both adopted by the Congress. " Jean Paul Metzger, professor at the Institute of Biosciences, University of So Paulo (USP) states that the proposal is in Congress points to a developmental path, which penalizes the environment and did not aggregate the contribution of science. "The text does not incorporate the scientific knowledge we have," says Metzger, Ph.D. in ecology. Among the most concern are the reduction of legal reserve areas, either by waiver for small farmers, representing 25% of the territory, or the incorporation of Permanent Preservation Areas (APPs, such as riparian forests and hilltops) on balance the legal reserve. "All this will lead to more deforestation, species loss and ecosystem services," says Metzger. Elbio Rech, a researcher at Embrapa and member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC), argues that, even with flaws, the purpose of reform of the Code is to show new ways to Brazilian agriculture, increased productivity without harming the environment. "We need a sustainable intensification of agriculture. Science to produce this: giving subsidies to Brazil's future."

Rural credit has profound change

14:09:45 The government is preparing a radical change in the rules of rural credit. The effort, whose results will be announced in late May, seeks to stimulate the production of staple foods, lead to diversification of agriculture, ensure the support of producer prices and at the same time, keeping inflation under control of food. Some of the changes in the Rural Credit Manual, discussed with public and private banks by the government, will be announced in the new Crop Plan 2011/12, the value found. Another part should be approved at a meeting of the National Monetary Council (CMN) at the end of June. The proposal, cobbled together by the Ministry of Finance over the past five months, provides a "descommoditizao" agricultural policy. Producers of rice, beans, meat, fruit and horticulture, who now pay higher interest rates does not appear as a government priority, will be treated as entrepreneurs from soybeans, cotton and corn. The new credit manual, 500 pages, attempts to reduce bureaucracy and simplify operations rural resource allocation for funding, investment and marketing of crops. In times of prosperity in the rural sector and high volumes of resources available in the financial system, the stress is making life easier for customers, banks and government. But always with the idea of avoiding sudden changes in prices in the industry. "The government's action must be equal for all producers, not to a specific culture. Today we have a more" commoditized. "The focus is to match meat, potatoes and tomatoes, they pay higher rates to commodities" explains the Assistant Secretary for Economic Policy of the Ministry of Finance, Gilson Bittencourt. Coordinator of the manual review, economist lists the objectives: "It encourages the production and control inflation. And it has an environmental side because it helps diversify the production. Furthermore, it is easier to monitor for CPF than by culture" . The new manual will unify the individual credit limits, which will be released by the Social Security beneficiary. Thus, the boundaries that culture must end. This will simplify procedures and cut costs. The measure should increase the ceiling of resources, from $ 650,000 up to 975 000 depending on the creation of "sobretetos" still under discussion, the value found. Today, the tracks on the ceiling ranging from $ 200,000 to $ 650,000. The government will transform the $ 650 000 on the floor. If you use certified seed, the producer may have a 15% bonus. Prove compliance with environmental laws, will have another 15%. "The focus is to bring those who are below the R $ 650 thousand. But the Treasury will give the final word," Bittencourt said. To support producer prices during peak season, when plenty of supply tends to bring down prices, the government also will emphasize the marketing of production. To do so, will separate the protection of the producer credit to agribusiness. The Federal Government Loans (EGFs) must end. Instead, the government will create two new instruments: Financing for Product Storage Members of PGPM (FEPM) and FEE for products outside the Policy Guaranteed Minimum Price. So is there an increase in credit limit up to twice what the producer in financing lent. The goal is to speed the commercialization, securing more resources to the producer to hold products in warehouses and provide more "firepower" to retain production, including livestock. "The focus today does not guarantee prices, but only credit," says Gilson Bittencourt. The changes also include the creation of a sort of revolving credit ("overdraft"), with credit limit broader and longer term. "It will be a simplified renewal, not necessarily revolving credit," said the executive secretary. The government has yet to decide if the limit is $ 200,000, U.S. $ 300,000 or $ 500,000. The idea is to "zero" for two months this account. Between June and July, for example, the producer quiteria this debt. The producers have integrated agribusinesses unified limits of $ 70,000 for CPF. The ceilings and semi-fixed investment should increase, from R $ 200 thousand to 300 thousand. The agro-industries also have higher limits, from R $ 30 million to $ 40 million, including Funcaf (FAC). The nurseries will have up to $ 7 million.

In addition, the government assesses allow cooperative banks perform, on behalf of private banks, part of the "liabilities" of rural credit - a 25% share of demand deposits with mandatory application in rural areas. The goal is to strengthen and promote cooperatives. To create the Interbank Deposit for Credit Cooperatives (Cooperatives DIR), however, yet to define the distribution of banking risks. There will also be changes in the NPRS and requirements of notarization. Banks have welcomed the changes. "Congratulations to the hard work by Gilson. It is an important stimulus that required a long time and dedicated staff," said the director of the Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban) Ademiro Vian. Before, however, banks will have to change systems technology, standard contracts and make operational adjustments. "But it is good time to make changes."

The Organization of Brazilian Cooperatives (OCB) is convinced that the quest for sustainable development is a commitment that is part of the cooperative. So do not consent to the production or maintenance of environmental laws that have dissociated from reality. It is against this background, and the belief that the work of Aldo Rebelo walks the balance between production and preservation, which supports the OCB. Aware of the need to further review of various points of environmental law, it recognizes that proposed changes are improvements. For his efforts to reconcile the preservation of the environment and agricultural and livestock production, and more, for their commitment to the Brazilian society, the OCB is an outline and a brief account of the actions of Aldo Rebelo. Established in 2009, the Special Committee of the Forest Code elected Deputy Aldo Rebelo (SP), a member of the Parliamentary Group of the Cooperative (Frencoop) as rapporteur. Parliamentarian for five consecutive terms, Rebelo began his political activity as a youth, when he became president of the National Union of Students (UNE). Later, as Minister of Political Coordination of the Lula government, Aldo dedicated to the formation of a government coalition, believing in the need for political unity in a country with so many inequalities and imbalances. In 2005, Aldo Rebelo became president of the Chamber of Deputies, when he led important discussions and decisions, such as projects related to the Fund for the Development of Basic Education (Fundeb) and the General Law of Micro and Small Enterprises. From 2009 for almost a year, the parliament, as Special Rapporteur of the Forest Code, traveled to Brazil to produce a report that could point the way for the balance between environmental preservation and strengthening of Brazilian agriculture. There were 50 meetings, 12 deliberative hearings 14 internal and 24 external in 21 cities from 16 states. Thus, the opinion of Aldo Rebelo was built based on the results and information collected during the hearings and the contributions of various sectors in all biomes, being presented to the Commission in June 2010 and approved the following month. After approval of the Special Committee substitute, however, the rapporteur, with profile conciliator, was willing to talk to numerous other entities and the government, in a few months of intense debates, which culminated in the presentation of new versions of its opinion. Last night (11/05), Rapporteur, and government leaders reached an agreement with a text that represented the consensus possible at that time. To allow the vote on the new Forest Code, pressing issue to ensure legal certainty for farmers and preservation of the Brazilian embiente, interested parties had to negotiate points of dispute and compromise on some issues. However, despite the agreement that guaranteed the vote on the amendment substituting global Aldo Rebelo, the head of government said that there were changes in the text that were not based on knowledge of the allied parties. Rebelo ensured that the text presented to the plenary was exactly the same passed on to party leaders during the afternoon. "The text presented is aware of the leaders and was written and corrected by the advisor to the government leadership, in the presence of the leader of the PMDB," he said.
