August 8, 2011 Dear Parents, We trust that you have all had a relaxing holiday over the summer break and would like to wish you a warm welcome to the 2011-12 academic year at the New International School of Thailand. Our team this year consists of seven teachers and one academic assistant all of whom have a great depth of teaching experience. Our teaching staff includes Mr Glenn Davies (6GD class teacher in Room 3406), Ms Jessica Kirkby (6JK class teacher in Room 3404); Mr Sam Sherratt (6SS class teacher in Room 3403); Ms Jill Bellamy (6JB class teacher in Room 3407); Ms Kyla Kopperud (English as an Additional Language teacher across the year level); Ms Cassandra Seiter (Learning Support across the year level) and Mr Chris Boreham (6CB class teacher in Room 3405) who will also be leading the Year 6 team as Year Level Co-ordinator. Our academic assistant this year will be Ms Naruepa (Siew) Tritanawat who will be working in all of these classes. Together we will strive to make this a challenging and successful year for your child. We would like to invite all parents to the Elementary Schools Back to School evening which will be held on the evening of Tuesday, August 23rd. This will allow parents the opportunity to meet their childs class teacher and hear a short presentation from the Year 6 Team about the academic programme. Further information regarding this event will be available shortly. We look forward to meeting you then. If throughout the year you have any issues you would like to discuss with your childs teacher please contact us to make an appointment. We are most willing to discuss your childs progress, but ask that you do not simply arrive at the classroom door unannounced, as in such situations we may not be available to meet. To arrange an appointment, please either telephone and leave a message at the schools Elementary Office, or contact the teacher directly by email (please see contact email addresses below). Please include a brief explanation about the issue you would like to discuss. We will then be in contact with you as soon as possible to make arrangements to meet. Throughout the school week, your child will be involved in lessons taught by specialist teachers, these being Physical Education (P.E.), Art, World Languages and Music. This year the timetabling throughout NIST will again run on a ten day cycle. We ask that you assist and support your child to be prepared for all lessons on a given a day, particularly over the first few weeks of the academic year. Details about your childs timetable are available online on our information management system (Veracross). Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to welcome any new students and parents to the school community. To all parents, we look forward to meeting you at the Back to School evening and working in partnership with you in making your childs year a fulfilling and successful learning experience. Kind Regards, The NIST Year Six Team Ms Jill Bellamy jibellamy@nist.ac.th Ms Jessica Kirkby jkirkby@nist.ac.th Mr Glenn Davies gdavies@nist.ac.th
