ALUMNI NEWS…

Kerri(1995) and John (1993) Martin have three children with the oldest, Ainsley,
beginning K-5 at RWA this 2008-2009 school year. Kerri currently serves on the RWA
PTO (vice-president), Fairfield County Board of Disabilities and Special Needs
Fundraising Committee, and the Fairfield Country Club Board. She works part time for
DHEC providing newborn home visit services and for John A. Martin Primary Health
Care teaching prenatal/childbirth classes. In addition, Kerri has started an online
business- It's Mine! It's Mine offers monogramming and embroidery services in addition
to gifts. John completed his Masters in Nurse Anesthesia at the University of SC School
of Medicine in 2003 and is currently employed as a CRNA at Palmetto Baptist.

Josh Allen, Class of 2003, recently graduated Magna Cum Laude from Clemson
University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, with emphasis in
Biomolecular Science and Engineering. He is now employed as an associate engineer for
process management with Roche Carolina in Florence. Josh returned to Richard Winn on
Thursday, August 21, 2008, to deliver the annual Academic Banquet address.
Corporal J. D. Hodges (pictured at right behind President Bush), a 2001 graduate of
Richard Winn Academy, is a member of the U.S. Marine Corps. He is a non-
commissioned officer attached to "8th and I" the Marines Corps' oldest and most historic
installation located in Washington, D.C. Assigned to the Headquarters & Support Guard
Section, he has special duties as the White House NCO, one of four in the Marine Corps.
In this capacity he provides ceremonial and security duties to the President of the United
States. Following this one-year tour of special duty at the White House he will be
qualified to wear the coveted "Presidential Service Badge," signifying special services
rendered to the President. His awards and decorations include the Air Force Achievement
Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with “V” Device, Air Reserve Forces
Meritorious Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism
Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Air Force Expeditionary
Service Ribbon, as well as the Marine Corps Meritorious Unit Citation. He holds the
Marine Corps Expert Rifle and Sharpshooter Pistol shooting badges.
Prior to enlisting in the Marines in 2006, he served as a fire team member and Combat
Arms instructor with the 169th Security Forces Squadron of the S.C. Air National Guard
for almost six years. During this tour of duty with the Air Force he deployed several
times to various U.S. and international locations.
During his off-duty time J.D. enjoys riding his Harley-Davidson Electra-Glide
motorcycle, shooting, and camping. He was a member of Richard Winn's state
championship football team in 1999.
A group of Richard Winn alumnae (Classes of 2001, 2002, & 2003) recently spent
some time together in Myrtle Beach over the Labor Day holiday weekend celebrating a
“girls retreat.”

Scott Adams (1994) graduated from Columbia International University in 1998 with a
Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology and Bible. He married Heather Joy Ferguson in May
2001. They are parents of three sons, Stephen (5), Daniel (3), and Caleb (2). Scott
received his Master of Divinity degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in
Louisville, KY. He has served as Minister of Music in three churches in Louisville and
currently serves as Senior Pastor of Good Hope Baptist Church in Spotsylvania, VA. His
