Library management system is a computerized system, which help a library organization to manage its tasks in a very simple, systematic, logical, efficient and effective manner. It is a less time consuming method. It is a technique intensive method, which is of great help to librarians, members and many more people
OVERVIEW
Project is related to library management which provides: Reading services to its members.
Any person can become a Member of the library by filling a prescribed form.
They can get the book issued, so that they cab take home and return them.
PROPOSED SYSTEM
There will be three major components: 1. Stock maintenance. 2. Transaction entry. 3. Reports. Proposed system provides with following solutions: provides "better and efficient" service to members. Reduce the workload of employee. Faster retrieval of information about the desired book. Provide facility for proper monitoring reduces paper work and provide data security. All details will be available on a click.
PROBLEMS IN THE CURRENT SYSTEM:Any new system is developed because of the some limitations of the previous system to leaves that limitations we think to develop a new system. Our library management system is a manual system, so some problems with manual system are: Manual handling takes lots of time to answer a query. Not able to get details on author. (I.e. It supports topic or subject indexing) Fine calculation is difficult is manual system. Increase the chances of losses in manual system, for example book loss and fine loss.
It increases the manpower, overhead and takes a lot of time in manual library system. The manual system is very slow system. In manual system there are maximum chances of errors. Library management system is very large system .It is very large so it is very difficult to survive it gracefully.
The manual system is not fit in our 21st century because of slow processing, inefficiency & for more expenses.
OBJECTIVE:-
Computerized system can handle large volume of books. Computerized system can give answer to almost all type of queries instantly. Any type of detail can be generated in a few time periods. Inventory report can be generated in computerized system.
Enable their participation in resource sharing library networks. Enable rapid communication with other libraries and professional peers. Improve the quality, speed, and effectiveness of services.
Scope
This project changes the manual library system in to computerized library system. It can handle all type of libraries small as well as large. Computer trained person get jobs easily. It makes library system so easy, that even a layman can handle it.
It reduces the chances of losses for example book loss, fine loss as fine is calculated automatically.
