Fraction Catch

A fraction ordering card game for 2-6 players. (For 5 and 6 players you may want two decks.) Materials: Fraction cards Set-up: Each player is dealt three cards, and holds them so others cant see. Turn over the top card of the remaining deck. The player to the left of the dealer goes first. Gameplay: On the play, a player places a card in order among the other fractions. If their card goes between two other cards, they catch the lower fraction for a score. For example, a 1/2 played between a 1/4 and 5/8 would catch the 1/4. After a card is played that player draws a card, so they still have three cards. Play continues until no more plays can be made. If a player cant make a play they pass their turn. Note that you cant play equivalent fractions next to each other, so if 4/8 is down, no one may play 2/4 or 1/2. If you have no play at all (check with your opponent), you can shuffle one card into the deck and draw a new card for your turn. Winning: the player with the most captures wins. Variations: Open hand players play with hands revealed and help each other. Good way to learn. Scoring players play for a score, where you total your catches to find out who wins. Can shade in a score sheet divided into 24ths for a variation on this variation. Quick Catch play until someone has a set number of catches, such as 5 or 7. Calculator check play with a calculator, where players convert to decimals to check placement and total scores.

Now on Player 1s turn, if they can play something between 1/6 and 3/4 or between 3/4 and 7/8, theyll make a catch. If its smaller than 1/6 or bigger than 7/8, they wont make a catch. Player 1 plays a 1/3. Where does it go? What happens? Catches P1: P2: P3: 2/4
