Maharashtra State Eligibility Test for Lectureship (SET) - 2011 Scheme of Examination

The Examination will consists of Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III. The examination for all the three papers would be held on one day, in two separate sessions.

Paper-I : General Paper on Teaching and Research Aptitude. As per UGC Guidelines, SET has decided to provide choice to the candidates from the August, 2010 onwards. Sixty (60) multiple choice questions of two marks each will be given, out of which the candidates wo uld be required to answer any fifty(50). In the event of the candidate attempting more than 50 questions, the first 50 questions attempted by the candidate would be evaluated. The candidate will choose Paper-II and Paper-III in any one from those subjects listed under item No. 6 only. The Paper-II and III will correspond to knowledge at the Post Graduate Level in that Subject. The Paper-II shall consist of objective type questions, and shall be answered by the candidate as in Paper-I. The Paper-III shall be of short and long answer type questions on the syllabus of the subject selected by the candidates Paper-I and II will be of 75 minutes duration each and each will carry maximum of 100 marks. These papers consist of Test Booklets containing 60 objective type questions in Paper-I and 50 objective type questions in Paper -II. The candidate will have to mark his/her response for each item only on the answer-sheet provided separately. A combined answer-sheet for Paper-I and Paper-II will be provided before the starting of Paper-I. PaperI and II will be conducted in the first session and the answer -sheet will be collected after the time for Paper-II is over. Answers marked on the Test-Booklet will not be evaluated.

Paper-III will be held in the second session of 2 hours and 30 minutes duration and will carry a maximum of 200 marks. The candidates will be required to attempt questions in this paper in the Test Booklet itself. Wherever there are electives, it is essential for the candidate to attempt same elective in all sections ( e.g.) suppose a candidate selects "ELECTIVE - I" from Section - I, then it is essential for him/her to select "ELECTIVE - I" only from all remaining three sections

A candidate who does not appear for Paper -I will not be permitted to appear for Paper -II and Paper-III. Paper-III will be evaluated only for those candidates who are able to secure the minimum qualifying marks in Paper-I and Paper-II, as per the table given below. [ Candidate should Attach an attested valid Non-Creamy Layer Certificate. The certificate must be in candidate's own name and not in father's or husband's name. OBC/SBC/DT/NT candidates will be considered as GENERAL Category if they do not produce the OBC/SBC/DT/NT caste certificate and the latest non creamy layer certificate along with the application form. ]

Paper-III of the non eligible candidates will be preserved only for three months from the date of the declaration of the result. 6. The candidates have the option to answer Paper -III entirely either in Marathi or in English (except for languages, Science subjects & Management.) In case of any discrepancy in English and Marathi version of questions in Paper-I, II and III, the English Version should be taken as final. Question paper of Geography will be in Marathi also & can be answered in Marathi. For visually handicapped (VH) candidates 30 minutes extra time shall be provided separately for Paper-I and Paper-II. For Paper-III, 45 minutes extra time shall be provided. They will also be provided the services of a scribe who would be a graduate in a subject other than that of the candidate. Those Physically Handicapped (PH) candidates who are not in a position to write in their own handwriting can also avail these services by making prior request (at least 15 days before the date of examination) in writing to th e Coordinator of the Test Centre. Extra time and facility of scribe would not be provided to other Physically Handicapped candidates.

a) The candidates must have Master's Degree from an institution recognized by U.G.C. The candidates other than SC/ST category who have secured atleast 55% marks (without grace) in Master's Degree or equivalent examination, are eligible for this test. SC/ST/PH/VH (PH -Physically Handicapped. VH-Visually Handicapped i.e. Blind) category candidates who have secured atleast 50% marks(without grace) in Master's Degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this test.

Those candidates who have secured even 54.99% marks or below (even 49.99% Marks or below for SC/ST/PH/VH candidates) in Master's Degree examination are NOT eligible for this test. Candidates who have appeared OR will be appearing at the qualifying master's degree examination and whose result is still awaited OR candidates whose examinations have been delayed may also apply for this Test. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible to apply for Lectureship only after they have passed their Master's Degree examination or equivalent examination with atleast 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/PH/VH category candidates) These candidates must submit their P.G. Marksheet within two years from the date of declaration of result of the SET examination. Those candidates who are studying in the first year of two years course or in first two semesters of a four semesters course of Master's Degree cannot appear for this test.

f) M.C.M. students are not allowed to appear for SET Examination. g) Candidates who have completed Ph.D. and had passed Master's Degree prior to 19 th September, 1991 with at least 50% marks (without grace marks as explained above) are also eligible to appear for SET examination. Candidates have to appear for SET in the subject of their Post Graduation only. Candidates should note that their candidature is provisional. Their candidature will be deemed final upon verification of eligibility condition with reference to the documents enclosed with their application or as may be called for. There is no upper age limit . The candidates who have passed M.Sc.( by Research) are not eligible to appear for the SET Exam. As per the U.G.C. Rules. The SET agency will not issue any marksheet to qualified/not-qualified candidate. Also no revaluations of papers are allowed for SET Examination. The SET agency will issue certificate to qualifying candidates only.

EXEMPTION (ELIGIBILITY FOR LECTURESHIP) (a) Exemption from SET will be as per decisions taken by the UGC and State Government from time to time. (b) The candidates who have passed the UGC/CSIR, JRF examination prior to 1989 or have cleared the State level Eligibility Test of any state accredited by the UGC for lectureship prior to 1 st June, 2002 are exempted.

(c) SET shall remain the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment and appointment of lecturers in Universities/Colleges/Institutions. Provided, however, that candidates, who are or have been awarded Ph.D. Degree in compliance of the University Grants Commission (minimum standards and procedure for award of Ph.D. Degree) , regulation 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of SET f or recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions.

Maharashtra State Eligibility Test for Lectureship (SET) - 2011 Documents Required

Application forms are available only on website http://setexam.unipune.ac.in . Candidates have to fill the form online and draw a hard copy of the same after online submission and submit it to the concerned center.

Copies of the following attested documents are to be enclosed with the form:

Acceptance of the form and the fees does not guarantee eligibility for taking the test. Eligibility criteria have to be met by the applicant. Permission to appear for the Test is provisional till such time the candidate fulfills the eligibility criteria.

Procedure for submission of Application Form :

Please go through all the details like Important dates, Eligibility Criteria before filling up the online Application form for Maharashtra State Eligibility Test for Lectureship (SET). First draw the DD (The Demand Draft should be drawn in the name of "Registrar, University of Pune", payable at Pune and drawn ONLY on Nationalized Bank LISTED BY THE SET OFFICE) of amount of Rs. 550/(For OPEN category) & Rs. 450/- (For SC/ST/Visually Handicapped/Physically Handicapped & Non Creamy layer candidates from DTNT/SBC/OBC categories). Please carry all the detailed information of your DD with you when you start filling the online form . It is extremely important to fill the details of Demand Draft in the Application form which is compulsory for form submission. Before filling the Actual Application Form you should furnish details such as your name, e-mail I.D. and date of birth etc. For creating the unique Login ID, click on "CREATE NEW ACCOUNT" After furnishing the said details, then you will be provided with unique Login ID. With this Login ID and Password you can fill up an online SET application form. The Login ID & password will also be mailed to your specified email id for your reference. It is essential for the candidate to remember his/her Login ID and Password for getting his/her Admit Card online prior to 10 days of the SET examination. Once you get the Login ID & password, Click on the Link Apply Online where you have to login to the system by entering Login ID, password & email id. Only after your verification, you will be in a position to fill an Application form for Maharashtra State Eligibility Test for Lectureship (SET).

Then you can see the preview of your filled Application form. On that preview there are two options Update Form & Upload the Photo. d. If you want to update any filled information you can update it by clicking on Update button. Or else if your filled information is correct then click on "Upload Photo", where you have to select the image file for your passport size photo(50kb JPG File) for uploading. Please confirm the file name & check the image before uploading to the system. Please check that you have uploaded the image of your photograph only.*** e. After successful uploading of photo, system will generate the unique Application Number for your application, which you have to note down. f. After submitting the application & Uploading the photo, you c an take the printout of Filled Application form by clicking text "Click here to take the Printout". g. The printed Application form will be of Four pages : first page- Application Form, Second PageDeclaration, Third Page Acknowledgement, fourth - Cover page to be pasted on envelope for sending Application form) Check whether you have printed all the 4 mentioned pages. h. It is essential to affix the photograph (the same photograph of which the scanned image was uploaded by

the candidate) beside the scanned image on the hard copy of the application form duly attested by the Gazatted officer, Principal of the college. [Please do not paste the photo on printe d photograph.]

If your form is valid (with all details, attested enclosed documents, eligibility criteria), an On line Hall ticket will be made available to you 10 days before the examination.
Hall ticket will not be send to the candidates by post. You have to take a printout of the Admit Card (Hall Ticket), by clicking "Print Hall Ticket" option.

Student has to come with this Printout of the Admit card and Photo Identity Proof at the time of the SET Examination.

Procedure for submission of printout of application form: 1. Arrange the Application form & the required documents enlisted. Paste your passport size photograph on the space provided on the printout of Application form. Write your Application Form Number, your name and address behind the Application Fee Demand Draft. Sign in the space provided for the signature on the printout of the Application Form. Enclose the form along with the required documents and Application Fee DD in an envelope of size 36 cm x 25 cm Seal the envelope properly and paste the Cover Page containing address of the concerned center (Page 4 of the Application Form). Affix appropriate postage on envelope and send the envelope to the address printed on cover page by post

INSTRUCTIONS FOR FILLING ONLINE APPLICATION FORM FOR THE SET EXAMINATION TO 27th NOVEMBER 2011

1. The 28th SET Examination will be conducted on 27th NOVEMBER 2011. 2. The application form will be available only online on the website http://setexam.unipune.ac.in 3. The Application Form can be filled only online FROM 17th AUGUST, 2011 from 11.00 a.m. To 14 th SEPTEMBER, 2011 till 6.00 p.m. 4. It is essential to have scanned photo image of the candidate (in pen drive or C.D.) at the time of filling online application form, the scanned photo image is required to upload (Max size 50 kb only in JPEG format). 5. Please submit the documents by observing following sequence a) D.D. on Nationalized Bank listed by SET to be drawn in the favour of the "Registrar, University of Pune" payable at Pune. b) Hard copy of the application form (single set) with attested photocopies of the following documents i) Photo copy of the Caste Certificate in case of SC/ST Candidates ii) In case of OBC/SBC/DT/NT category candidates Valid Non Creamy Layer certificate along with caste certificate iii) Photo copy of the Medical Certificate issued by Civil Surgeon in case of Physically and Visually Handicapped candidates iv)Photo copy of Mark list of Master's Degree v) Marriage Certificate/Gazette in case of any Change in Name 6. Application form must be sent to the concerned Contact Person of the Center from where the candidate will appear for the SET examination. List of Contact Persons is displayed on the website. When candidate will take out the print of his/her application form, one page will be automatically generated indicating the address of the concerned

Contact Person. 8. Each envelope should contain only one application form. 9. M.C.M. students are not allowed to appear for SET Examination. 10.No request for changes in the information provided in the on line form will be entertained 11.Last date for receipt of hard copy of the submitted application form along with D.D. and other necessary documents is 20th SEPTEMBER 2011, till 6.00 p.m. Applications received after the last date will not be entertained. 12.Only filling and submission of online application is not sufficient for registration as a candidate for SET. If hard copy along with D.D. and other necessary documents is not received to the concerned center till 20 th SEPTEMBER 2011 then the registration of the candidate will be treated as invalid 13.In order to avoid last minute rush, the candidates are advised to apply early enough. SET will not be responsible for network problem or any other problem of this nature. 14.Fees once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances. 15.The Admit-Cards will be provided to all candidates only online on the above mentioned website 10 days before the SET Examination using the same Login ID & password.. 16.If the candidates want to submit hard copy of the application form by hand , he/she should bring acknowledgement slip and obtain the Stamp and signature on the acknowledgement slip from the concerned center otherwise the application form will not be accepted. After having the signature, seal of the concerned Center on the online acknowledgement slip, it will be treated as valid. 17.Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidate. 18 Keep one photocopy of the application form for your record. 19 Submission of online application is mandatory. Admit Cards will be provided online to all candidates 10 days prior to the date of the examination on website http://setexam.unipune.ac.in Candidate shall enter his/her Login ID and password for getting printout of his/her Admit Card. Admit Cards will not be sent to the candidates by Post. Candidates have to download and get a printout of ADMIT CARD.

- Candidate must carry admit card and also one additional photo identity such as a driving license, college/university identity card, pan card etc. to the examination center on the Day of the Examination. - If your admit card do not display image of your photograph, you have to paste the photo at appropriate place and get attested from the competent authority. - The candidate is not allowed in the Examination Hall without the Identity Card. - Please confirm that your name, subject, Centre, category, Physically or Visually handicapped shown in the admit card are correct. If there is any error in the admit card please contact SET office (020 25692527, 25601289) immediately and submit written application to SET Office otherwise SET Office will not be responsible for making necessary corrections and will not be responsible for providing benefits or for loss arising out of these to the candidates.
