Have you ever wondered what the solar heating systems are? To answer this question first we need to understand what different renewable & Green energy systems are and what are the uses of renewable Green energy systems for mankind. Renewable energy systems are green in nature, hence does not increase the risk of carbon dioxide and global warming. There are different types of renewable green energy systems some are listed below a. Wind energy b. Solar Thermal energy c. Solar Photovoltaic energy d. Biomass e. Geo Thermal ,the benefits of renewable green energy are forest preservation, clean energy which does not pollute, saving the earth for our children and grandchildren from global warming as this energy does not generate carbon dioxide which in air causes temperature to rise and a runaway effect causing glaciers to melt, water level to rise and help save low lying areas like Maldives from drowning or at least postpone such happening. Out of the above listed renewable green energy, the most common and are being harvested are solar thermal, Solar Photovoltaic and Wind energy. While wind turbines rotate the blades while gushing air and run turbines, Solar cells a type of semiconductor p-n junction converts solar light energy into electricity, which can be used for many applications. Solar Thermal is the most economical type of harvesting solar power. There are again 3 types of these systems being widely in use in the world. First is concentrator technology, where in large mirrors focus solar heat and direct to the needed direction at focal point, this can then be used for different applications. Second is flat plate collector technology, In this a flat box like collector of about 2 square meters are used in parallel or series connection to generate hot water. This has mainly 2 component, collector and the storage tank & accessories. The third type of Solar thermal is being Evacuated Vacuum tube technology, probably most economical solar harvesting. In this there are two tubes of glass are melted to each other to make concentric cylindrical portion. Before fusion the outside of the inner tube is coated with Al-Ni-Al or other coating. The vacuum is created between both glass tubes so that the heat loss is prevented due to convection. Numbers of Evacuated tubes are used typically 14 tubes for a 100 letter system.

Using the free available power from sun, if energy is harvested it helps the mankind and also gives a long-term solution forever depleting stock of oil. Tanks are used to store hot water for further use either for bathing, pre-boiler heating or canteen, hospital purpose.

The collectors have flat Glasses, which allow the sunrays to pass however also prevent heat to leak out. There are copper runners and raisers through which water comes to the collector area, gets heated up and gets stored in isolated tanks.
