They used TVs for their displays and typically included a 324 wide border in the overscan region of the television, with a usable space of only 32 2 or 6 2 or 8 2 (approximately). They used the non-interlaced ( I) mode to provide a stable image. The noninterlaced designation was dropped after all monitors were manufactured this way.

Introduced by IB on ISAbased PS/2 models in 87, with reduced cost compared to VGA. GA had a 32 2 2 6 color (from a 262, 44 color palette) mode, and a 64 48 mode only in monochrome due to 64k video memory, compared to the 2 6k memory of VGA.

Introduced on Abased PS/2 models in 87. VGA is actually a set of different resolutions, but is most commonly used today to refer to 64 48 pixel displays with 6 colors (4 bits per pixel) and a 4:3 aspect ratio. ther Video Graphics display modes are also Array defined as VGA, such as 32 2 at 2 6 colors (8 bits per pixel) and a text mode with 72 4 pixels. VGA displays and adapters are generally capable of ode X graphics, an undocumented mode to allow increased nonstandard resolutions.

Quarter QVGA A common size for s manufactured for small consumer electronics and mobile phones, typically in a .7" to . " diagonal size. This is often used in the portrait ( 28 6 ) orientation. The unusual :4 aspect ratio makes the display slightly different from the QQVGA dimensions.

Although not an official name, this term is now used to refer to 2864, which is the largest 4:3 array yielding Extended under one million pixels. Graphics Array Variants of this were Plus used by Apple omputer (at 287 ) and Sun icrosystems (at 2 ) for 2 inch ( 3 mm) T displays.

Super Extended Graphics Array

A widely used de facto 32 bit Truecolor standard, with an unusual aspect ratio of :4 ( .2 : ) instead of the more common 4:3 ( .33: ), which means that 4:3 pictures and video will appear letterboxed on the narrower :4 screens. This is generally the physical aspect ratio & native resolution of standard 7" and " monitors.
