We remove obstacles

Your tax-deductible donation will be greatly appreciated by enabling us to continue this work. 95% of donations will go towards services in the field as we strive to limit administrative costs (paper filing, such as maintaining the 501(c)(3) status with the IRS) to 5%.

Mission Statement: BIB seeks to bring people together over the Internet by removing obstacles, filling gaps and adding equipment and channels for communication. Building International Bridges (BIB) is a non-profit organization that informs, educates & familiarizes our non-traveling global neighbors with other people and cultures worldwide. We facilitate direct communication between individuals via the latest popular technology and social media including but not limited to Skype, Facebook, Orkut, etc. Ask for our free CDs Sixty percent and DVDs that we of U.S. distribute in countries residents that lack unfettered dont have a public access to passport so Youtube. BIB helps them cross borders through the Internet.

Where does BIB send money? A) Maintaining a "safe" penpal list so that teachers in the USA can find teachers in other countries that have confirmed Skype and/or Facebook (social media) connections. B) Collecting and distributing ebooks and educational lectures on mp3 and mp4. We put these items on CDs (15 cents each) and DVDs (25 cents each) and given them to teachers, students, parents and stakeholders in schools. Some favorites include Dan Pink, Ken Robinson, Sugata Mitra, Dennis Yuzenas, Dennis Littky. We use disk duplicators. C) Getting computers into homes, community centers and schools so that students can use computers to learn and/or connect with Skype. BIB does not buy computers but we can help schools and individuals connect with potential donors of working pre-

lower cultural barriers through

Our efforts strive to contact and education. We remove obstacles to communication. We dont buy computers in Kenya, but we pay for the guy to collect the used computers from the mzungu embassies and distribute those computers to villages

owned computers. D) Finding mentors and putting them on Youtube. It takes time to bring an adult into a classroom -- and often the students aren't ready to learn from that person or it's not the right person for many of the students at that moment. Mentors on Video is an ongoing effort to put short interviews with adults whose words might inspire teenagers to make an effort or try something new. MentorsonVideo.org is available for you to share your experiences with the next generation. E) Creating "dancing words" videos to inspire changes in attitudes. Divisive attitudes toward the work of W. Edwards Deming and others who advocate collaboration can undermine the efforts of organizations that BIB supports. The videos aim to shift attitudes -- and that shift is what sometimes makes the difference. F) Transforming Education. Teenagers and adults would be in a better position to serve as cultural ambassadors if they knew more about science, history, literature, other cultures and countries. BIB's general fund supports efforts to transform schools to pursue the Seven Global Skills (Tony Wagner), preparing students for their Skype contacts. We support QBEAcademy.net, GuideontheSide.com, TheStudentIsTheClass.com, visualandactive.com, WhatDoYaKnow.com and alternative assessments. SPECIAL FUNDS 1) QBE Education Fund -- this school builds soft skills and has projects that support the Penpals list. QBEAcademy.net is home to the Brooks Emeny Ph.D. Library. 2) Gordon Dyke Educational Fund -- this fund pays for school fees for orphans in Kenya. The students who receive support are

encouraged to connect with our Penpals list. NewDawn-Association.org 3) Space Education Fund the fund provides grants to commentators and programs that assist schools and nonprofit organizations in presenting information to teenagers and the general public about the development of space. With the reduction of support of NASA, the USA finds itself in need of new private-sector initiatives to meet future challenges. Today's students will be tomorrow's taxpayers: will today's teenagers have accurate information to make choices and to defend those choices to people who live in other countries? History: BIB was founded to continue the work of Brooks Emeny, a professor of International Relations. Born in 1901, he attended Princeton University, the class of 1924, where he met a Japanese student (whom he later visited in Japan). Brooks studied in France and wrote a book about the strategic value of raw materials. His thesis for his doctorate was published as a textbook (The Great Powers in World Politics, co-written with Frank Simonds) and he became an expert in international relations and current events. In 1947 his organization in Cleveland hosted a conference that was covered in Time magazine. In 1956 he answered a call by President Eisenhower to improve international cross cultural comunication by joining a People to People initiative. One of the great-grandchildren of Brooks Emeny has participated in PTPI, going to Australia in 2004, nearly fifty years after Emeny's first trip as a People to People participant. Most people in the

USA cant travel to Jordan, Morocco, Lebanon, India and Japan the way Brooks Emeny did -- 60% of U.S. residents dont have a valid passport. Todays citizens can travel by Skype, serving as cultural ambassadors.
