A brief look at

Hanumat Sangrahalaya

2
Before taking you through the journey of Hanumat Sangrahalaya (Hanuman Museum), I would like to give a brief introduction of the same. The museum was established in the year 2004 by the grace of Mahaprabhu Shri Hanuman ji and Baba Neem Karoli Maharaj ji. The first floor of my home is dedicated to the museum. The journey though began with just one room, but 3 rooms and one big hall today seem a small place to display the storehouse of information on Hanuman ji. The Sangrahalaya has been prepared very aesthetically and academically. Anything that is displayed here is supported by evidence in religious scripture/s. Now let us look at the main attractions of the Hanumat Sangrahalaya: n The divine feet of Lord Rama, made in silver, are kept in a beautifully lit glass box. The base of feet display 48 symbols (24 on each foot). The main unique point to be known is that whatever symbol is on the right leg of Lord Rama, the same is on the left leg of Maa Sita (Rama's wife: also known as Maa Jaanki) and vice versa. n 'Sankatmochan Divyalok': This name is given to a beautiful exhibition made in fiber form and hanged on the wall. This scene th depicts Lord Shiva on the top, whose 11 embodiment/incarnation is Hanuman (Rudra Avtar). This is followed by Hanuman's divine mentor Lord Rama, Mata Sita (maa Janaki), Lord Laxman (Rama's brother). Then, Hanuman ji's mother Anjana accompany him on his left and father Kesari ji on the right. This divine exhibition then presents Sun God (Surya dev), his teacher on the left diagonal top (on the left of Hanuman ji) and the Wind God (Pawan dev), who is also considered as Hanuman's Godfather, on the right diagonal top. Then, there are Hanuman's friends (some close near ones who are mentioned in Ramayana) Sugreev, Nal, Neel and Angad; followed by Jamvant ji, who is considered as Hanuman's consultant (salahkar), at last Tulsi das ji, who was the greatest devotee of Mahaprabhu Shri Hanuman ji.

The entire concept behind this divine presentation is that Hanuman ji's complete family (including his Parents, Mentor, Guru, Godfather, friends and the devotee) is present at one place, which would make him most elated and he would give immense blessings and grace deep from his heart to all worshipping this presentation. n A compilation of 1004 names of Mahaprabhu Shri Hanuman ji, presented in the form of an illuminated scroll. It is mentioned in various scriptures that these names were given by Lord Rama to Hanuman out of affection. n An exclusive collection of literature: More than 600 different books specifically on Lord Hanuman in various languages, collected from across the globe. This is the ever biggest collection of so many books on Lord Hanuman at one place. n A unique collection of more than 1000 rare pictures on Lord Hanuman collected from across the globe. These pictures relate to the period as old as 3rd Century. All the picture are displayed in the albums (currently 6 albums) and consistency is maintained throughout all albums in designing the borders of pictures, with only two pictures (of size of 5 x 7) pasted on each page. n A collection of CDs and Cassettes on Hanuman Kirtan and bhajan. n Ornaments of Lord Hanuman, namely- Kundal (for ears), Vajra, Dhwaja (flag), Munj Janeyu (a thread made of a grass known as munj). These ornaments find their mention in one line of Hanuman Chalisa : Kaanan kundal kunchit kesa, haath vajra aur dhwaja viraje, kandhe munj janeyu saje n Rozalia Gallery: A wall in the museum is dedicated to seven Hummel paintings by a Hungarian Artist Miss Hummel Rozalia. Each of her painting depicts one complete chapter of Ramayana. She has devoted her life in the lotus feet of Shri Hanuman. Once she visited the museum and was so overwhelmed that she dedicated all her life's work of painting to the museum. n of Lord Hanuman resting in a cradle as a child is the most loved An idol attraction of the museum. Visitors find this portrayal of Lord Hanuman very heartwarming and experience immense elation to see this form of Hanuman. n The museum also houses paintings of Lord Hanuman made on paper and cloth with the name of Lord Ram written so small that it is not even visible with naked eyes. From first look it seems that as if the body of Hanuman in the painting is painted by colour, but it is actually Ram Ram written all over Hanuman's body by that colour. A magnifying glass is provided to the visitors to experience this class of art and devotion. n wall mural depicting the idols of Lord Hanuman's three A large mothers (Maa Sita, Maa Anjana and Maa Tulsi) and three fathers (Lord Ram, Lord Kesari, and the Wind God Pavan Dev), all showering their blessings on three different forms of Hanuman in his childhood.

The museum has a copy of Ramcharitmanas hand written in 1880. n There n is also a collection of elegantly framed replicas of 800-1000 years old paintings of Hanumanji printed by the National Museum, New Delhi. There n is a notice board in the museum on which rare information on Hanuman ji is put up and regularly updated. The information can be in the form of a newspaper cutting or any other related source. An exclusive collection of coins on which Hanuman ji is inscribed. n There are three such original coins present at the museum. These coins were issued by different Indian rulers in the 18th and 19th Century. There n are three idols of Lord Hanuman made in fiber depicting his musical excellence: one playing Veena, second playing Mradang and the third playing the Manjira. It is believed that Hanuman has been the biggest musician of all times in this universe. Continuing with Lord Hanuman's musical prowess, Hanuman n orchestra is also present at the museum. It is another most attractive and overwhelming addition to the Sangrahalaya. The orchestra has 14 musician forms of Hanuman ji, each playing a different musical instrument. An idol n of Hanuman sitting on camel with a victory flag in his one hand and mace in the other. This is a rarely known fact that Camel is Lord Hanuman's savari (carrier of Hanuman ji). An idol n of Hanuman in the form of a Langur Veer (a species of monkey). The reference of Hanuman as a Langur is found in the Durga Sapta Shati. A Hanuman Creative Gallery, which houses unique paintings n describing different stages in Hanuman's life. Various goodies on Hanuman ji such as greeting cards, exclusive paintings, a mace in fiber, calendars, books, posters etc. are also available for all the anxious devotees visiting here. There n is also a unique idol of Lord Hanuman with his wife SuvarchalaYES wife of Hanuman!! According to Parashar Samhita, Hanuman had worshipped Surya Bhagwan (the Sun God) as his Guru and studied the Vedas, Puranas etc. and mastered the Nine Vyakaranas (nine grammars). Being a Brahmachari (bachelor), Lord Hanuman was not eligible to study the Nava Vyakaranas for which the status of being a Grihastha (married) was essential. In order to facilitate the completion of his education, Surya Dev cut his rays to give birth to Suvarchala Devi and arranged a marriage with Hanumanji to make him a Grihastha without his bachelorhood being affected. Thereafter, he learnt and became a genius in the Nine Vyakaranas. The wall-to-wall madhubani paintings on huge size curtain need a n special mention. The painting describes 3 scenes: one, when Lord Rama was felicitating Hanuman ji. Second, when Hanuman went with Lord Shiva to Ayodhya in disguise to meet Lord Rama in his

childhood. Third, when Hanuman was being bestowed with abundant blessings from various Gods and was gifted a mace by Kuber, the God of wealth. n A painting on the wall, describing a scene when Lord Hanuman met Shri Rama in the forest. n A beautiful painting portraying the journey of Lord Hanuman to the Lanka and his meeting with Maa Sita. The elation on the face of Hanuman can be seen in the painting when he was handed over the ring by Maa Janki. n sized fiber mural of Lord Hanuman in the form of a sadhu (a A large saint). n The tastefully done art painting of Lord Hanuman on the clay pots is very attractive and adds to the grace of the museum. A modest attempt is being made through this endeavour to disseminate as much information as possible on Hanuman ji to the world. This museum is the first of its kind effort in the world for which it is credited with a record registered in the Limca Book of World Records 2007 for its novelty and uniqueness in having humungous information on Lord Hanuman compiled at one place. It is requested to all the devotees of Lord Hanuman to extend their support in this endeavor by passing on the information about its presence to all. Contributions in the form of any book, unique pictures, rare articles or exclusive details related to Lord Hanuman would be highly appreciated and welcomed.
