2 3 4 5 6 On Mon, Nov 22, 2010 this year's placement season started at IIFM. The inaugural company was Basix. On day-zero of placement week (Nov 22, 2010 to Nov 28, 2010) three students got placed. After three and half months later almost whole batch was placed and 100% placement target have been achieved for 2009-2011 batch. The major recruiters this season were: BASIX, MICROSAVE, ITC PSPD, Healthpoint Services India Pvt Ltd, AXIS BANK, MP EcoTourism Board, Sambodhi Research & Communication Pvt. Ltd, MP-CDM Agency, JLR, Foundation for MSME Clusters, General Carbon, SRIJAN, Deloitte India, Jaipur Rugs Foundation, FINO, WWF , and many more... Many senior batch students said "This year might be, package is not what we expected but, if we see in terms of pro-

files and positions that the students got, are what they desired and better than previous year." On similar note the scenario of Internships this year, for PFM2012 batch, initially showed a slower pace. When we asked Internship Committee about this they said "We have many good Internships offers in our hands, but, they will be useless if people wont apply to them". But at the end of the day what matters is, all got some place to go and do their SI project. The batch of 92 (Which is now reduced to 88) have got internship offers from various giants in this sector. The complete report for this years scenario will be made public by SI and Placement committee.

There are more than 2 million NGOs working with a funding of more than 80 thousand crore every year in our country, but, where is the change? Ms. Priya Naik said

On Saturday, 13th November, 2010 the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC) at IIFM had organized one-day entrepreneurship symposium, Daksha-2010: Envision change, Create Opportunities. Some of the issues that are dealt in the summit are Microfinance as a tool for facilitating inclusive growth, innovation and idea validation, resource mobilization for entrepreneurs, differences of the social businesses from mainstream businesses, sustaining startups organizations etc. Mr. A. K. Mathur, CGM, NABARD Mumbai, was the chief guest at the summit. The inaugural address was delivered by Capt. A. K. Khare (IFS), SAAC Chairperson, IIFM which was followed by a keynote speech by Ms Rita Soni, CEO, NASSCOM Foundation.

The key highlights of the event were There will be two panel discussions. The first one is called Bridges of Transformation and the second is called Envision change, Create opportunities. Mr. Abhishek Sinha said, The social entrepreneurship is similar to revolution for freedom because you are trying to change the system of people at the base of the pyramid. Mr. Guru Arumugam said that The product like simple cotton made shoe freshener could sell 10 times costly in foreign markets like Australia and Europe. This is innovation.

a lot of rumors are spreading against them but there are many good things also to be said about them. Later in the evening a Social BPlan competition was organized and students shortlisted out of a huge number of national applicants presented their social business ideas. The Winner team was from TISS, Mumbai Krishi Udaya (Agricultural Information System). And they won Rs. 30,000 as prize money. The Runner Up team was from NITIE, Mumbai Honey Chain and they won Rs. 20,000 as prize money. The lead sponsors of the event were:
