IntroductionofATMCinplaceofATMIC

1.

Introduction

1.1 AreviewoftheAirTrafficManagementInformationCircular(ATMIC)indicatedthatthe
statusATMICandthesignificanceoftheircontentmaybemisunderstood,asifitisonlyfor
information. As a result of the review, it has been decided to introduce Air Traffic
ManagementCircular(ATMC)inplaceofAirTrafficManagementInformationCircular
(ATMIC).

Purpose

2.1 This ATMC describes the purpose and operation of ATMC which has been introduced in
placeofATMIC.

3.

Scope

3.1 ATMC will provide information, instructions and clarification which are not covered in
MATS Part 1, Doc 4444, AIP, AIC, CAR or any other document but essential for dynamic,
integratedmanagementofairportoperationsincludingapronmanagement,airtrafficand
airspaceforsafe,efficientandexpeditiousoperation.

4.

DescriptionofATMC

4.1 ATMC will be issued in the format illustrated by this document and contain operational
instructions, ATC procedures, training requirements or any other subject essential for
dynamic, integrated managementof airport operations including apron management, air
trafficandairspacemanagement.

4.2 ATMCwillcontainanumberofkeyfeaturesdescribedbelow:

i)

Eachcircularwillbeidentifiedbyadiscretenumberfollowedbyyearofissue.

ii) The circular will be used to notify ATS incharge and air traffic controllers of
important changes to ATS or related safety procedures or requirements or to draw
attentiontoasafetyrelatedissue.

iii) ThecircularwillalsocontainprocedureforATCratingsandtrainingrequirementsfor
airtrafficcontrollers.

iv) InformationabouttheperiodofvalidityoftheATMCwillbeincluded.

v)

NormallyATMCwillbewithdrawnwhenotherdocumentshavebeenamendedto
reflectthecontentsofthecircular.

5.

Guidance

5.1 ATS incharge of all AAI controlled airports shall retain ATMC applicable to the level of
service that they provide. Verification that the appropriate ATMC are available for
referencemayformpartofaninspectionorauditofanATSunit.

5.2 A summary of the contents of previously published ATMIC and DARA Circulars which
remainvalidandhavenotbeenincorporatedintoATMCisincludedasanattachmentto
thisATMC.
