Prevention for Global Warming

Global warming refers to the Earths air and oceans gradually heating up to a point that disrupts balance, a problem that is continually getting worse. It sounds like a problem too massive for any one individual to take on, but it really isnt. Combining any few of these suggestions can make more of a dramatic effect than most people understand. The goal is to emit less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Delicious Reddit Stumble Upon Facebook Google Flag Article Instructions Difficulty: Easy Step 1. Drive less. Take bikes, walk or carpool whenever possible. 2. Consider investing in a hybrid or electric vehicle to help prevent against further global warming. 3. Replace all the lightbulbs in and around your home with energy-efficient fluorescents that use fewer watts for the same amount of light. 4. Clean or replace your filters monthly. 5. Choose energy-efficient appliances when it's time to buy new ones. 6. Decrease your air travel. 7. Wash clothes in cold water and line-dry whenever possible. 8. Use a low-flow showerhead, which will lessen the hot water used but not drop your water pressure in the shower. 9. Cut down on your garbagebuy fewer packaged materials to prevent further global warming. 10. Unplug electronics when they are not in use, because they still take up energy. At the very least, turn items off when theyre not being used. 11. Run the dishwasher and clothes washer only when you have a full load, and if available, use the energy-saving setting. 12. Insulate your home better, and dont forget to repair or replace worn caulking or weather-stripping. Insulate your water heater. 13. Buy recycled paper products and recycle as much of your waste as possible. 14. Bring your own reusable canvas grocery bags when grocery shopping. 15. Plant a tree. 16. Have an energy audit done on your home so you can find the trouble areas and fix them. 17. Use nontoxic cleaning products. 18. Shop locally for food. A farmers market is an excellent place to visit. And choose fresh food over frozen foods. Fresh takes less energy to produce. 19. Keep your car tuned up, and check tire pressure often to save gas. 20. Eat less meat and more organic foods in your diet to do your part in preventing global warming.

Global Warming Prevention - Your Personal Effort

Here are a list of simple but practical things you can do personally to help in the Global effort to save our planet by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. PRLog (Press Release) - May 03, 2007 - There has been a lot of talks about Global Warming but it seems like only a few are doing anything about it. On the recent Democratic Presidential debate, the question was asked to one of the candidates, What are you doing personally to help prevent global warming? His answer showed me that even though he talked publicly about Global Warming, he did nothing privately. Could it be that people just dont know where to start. Here are a list of simple but practical things you can do personally to help in the Global effort to save our planet by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Make sure you re-cycle newspapers, glass bottles, tin cans, and magazines. Reuse your shopping bag plastic instead of getting new ones each time you go to the market. Place a brick or something heavy into a plastic bag and place it into your toilet drum. This will cause it to fill faster and use less water each time you flush. Donate your unwanted clothes. Turn off the faucet when you are brushing your teeth. Turn off electrical devices (lights, fans, tv, computers, etc.) when they are not in use. Use Energy Efficient appliances. They will save you about a third on their energy bill with similar savings of greenhouse gas emissions, without sacrificing features, style or comfort Check for leaks (toilets, faucets, pipes, irrigation systems, etc.). Install a low-flow shower head Car pool to work or school if possible. Ride your bike instead of driving. Youll get your daily exercise while your at it! Have showers instead of baths. Plant native and/or drought-tolerant plants. Some grasses, ground covers, shrubs and trees do not need to be watered as frequently. These are just a few things you can do. By having a conservation awareness mind, you

will find other ways to contribute to the effort of saving our planet. Please join us in our quest "for a toxic free world." Visit us at http://www.enviro-one.com. --- end ---

Global Warming Prevention

Email

Global warming is something that we all have to take part in learning how to prevent, not only in the USA but throughout the entire world. We all play a part in contributing to global warming and the only way to help prevent the devastating affects is to work together. Each of the governments throughout the world are striving to develop a prevention plan that can help reduce the amount of emissions they are creating in the atmosphere and enhance what they are doing to contribute to the solution instead of the problem.

A U.S Climate Policy has been created to help citizens of the USA understand global warming and that there are actions which can be taken in order to make a difference. This policy consists of 3 different parts:

Slowing the growth of emissions Strengthening the development of science and research studies Enhancing international cooperation

If we can take these policies and principles and put them into action we can begin to see results. This policy is only the beginning of what the government can and should be doing but it is a great start. The politicians within our government are working hard to stick to this policy and evaluate the industrial areas of our country to make sure they meet the requirements of the U.S Climate Policy.

Since the future generations are depending on us to make the choices to rectify this devastating situation, every little effort counts. Our individual efforts are especially significant in countries like the US and Canada, where individuals release 10,000 pounds of carbon dioxide per person every year. The largest source of greenhouse gases is electric power generation. The average home actually contributes more to global warming than the average car. This is because much of the energy we use in our homes comes from power plants which burn fossil fuel to power our electric products.

The United States has agreed in principle to work with more than 180 other nations under the United NationsFramework Convention on Climate Change to bring about the stabilization of greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere at a level that would prevent dangerous interference with the climate system. California, Florida, Hawaii, Minnesota, New Jersey, Oregon, and Washington have all enacted laws or established policies setting global warming

pollution reduction targets, while states in both the Northeast and West have signed agreements to achieve regional targets. Now the U.S. Congress is considering several bills that propose a variety of global warming emissions reduction targets.

The Kyoto Protocol is one step the US government has taken to reduce the creation of greenhouse gases which are highly responsible for this climate change. The Kyoto Protocol is an agreement where industrialized countries will reduce their collective emissions of greenhouse gases by 5.2% compared to the year 1990 which was one of the highest years. The goal is to lower overall emissions of six greenhouse gases; carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, sulfur hexafluoride, hydrofluorocarbons, and perfluorocarbons. The statements within this protocol apply to only the developed countries of the world as they are the largest part of the problem.

The cost of the Kyoto Protocol is estimated to cost each of the developed countries involved billions of dollars. This is a financial responsibility each government should be willing to take in order to do what they can for the environment. Just when you go to the grocery store and find that organic foods are much more expensive than the regular foods; governments are finding that the cost to reduce greenhouse gases is far more than increasing them.

This one of the major problems our world as been having; it is far easier to create these gases than it is to reduce them and this is exactly what we have been doing for centuries. It is reassuring to see that the governments throughout the world are taking action but it is not nearly enough in order to stop the effects of global warming before they become devastating. Environmentalists and scientists are constantly working with government officials in order to come up with new, cost effective bills and legalities to reduce what they can of greenhouse gases.

Global Warming Prevention - Individual steps to be taken

The first step that you can take is to see how you can reduce carbon emissions from your home and garden. One of the known causes of global warming is the carbon emissions from cars. To prevent this type of emission you can see about driving an electric hybrid car.

Another of the global warming prevention steps that you can take is to use compact fluorescent bulbs instead of normal bulbs. You can see about insulating your house as this too will help you from having to use large amounts of energy trying to keep your home warm.

There is another fact which can be taken into account with regards to traveling. You can see how the different public transport systems will help you to get in on the global warming prevention bandwagon. As these modes of traveling are ideal to transport masses of people from one destination to another the emissions of fuel are reduced.

Another item that you need to understand in looking at the best global warming prevention methods is that with the massive amounts of deforestation that we are causing. As a result of this the amount of life giving rain which purifies the air and land is reduced.

The forests where these trees are located are not able to process the amounts of carbon which is found in the air. This causes horrific tragedies to occur such as landslides and mud slips. Out of control, raging, flooded rivers are another result that we have come to expect due to global warming. When you see how these different global warming facts pertain to our lives you begin to understand that we have a role to play in stopping the worst damages from occurring. By understanding how global warming prevention can help to reduce these horrific effects you can make sure that future generations have the chance for a good and disaster free life ahead of

them.
