The X-Men have no idea whats coming. When Cyclops went to speak against anti-mutant technology at an international arms conference, he had no way of knowing a mutant terror attack would set off an international incident. Soon, countries all over the world had brought their Sentinels out of storage, many of them malfunctioning and attacking mutant and human alike. Teams of X-Men have been dispatched all over the world to defeat the robots. As the tension mounted, the cracks began to form in the relationship between Cyclops and Wolverine, who furiously left the X-Mens home of Utopia after Cyclops harbored Quentin Quire, the young mutant terrorist who attacked the arms conference. Meanwhile, to counter the onslaught of bigotry on the public relations front, Cyclops has sent his most powerful squad of X-Men to make an appearance at the opening of a mutant history museum. Sadly, this is all going according to the plan of Kade Kilgore, a twelve-year-old boy who just became the Black King of the Hellfire Club. Kade is about to lead an attack on the museum with his inner circle and the X-Men have no idea what is about to hit them

After an era of no new mutants manifesting, Hope Summers was born with an active X-gene...and a destiny to revive and lead mutantkind. Raised as a soldier in the far future by the X-Man Cable, she has now returned to the present and prompted the awakening of five new mutants known as the Five Lights, whose powers manifested uncontrollably until Hopes touch tamed them. With Scott Summers approval, they now train with Hope as a rescue team for newly emerging mutants. The X-Men had settled into a peaceful existence on Utopia, an artificial island off the coast of San Francisco that had become a haven for mutants under Scott Summers leadership. Unfortunately, after a mutant terrorist attack on an internatinal arms conference, worldwide opinion of mutants plummeted. Many countries have even reactivated their Sentinel programs, determined to protect themselves from the perceived mutant threat. With the world around them suddenly thrust into chaos, Hope and the Five Lights find themselves caught in the middle of a conflict they may not be prepared to handle.
