Problem Details: EA05 ISU_DB_INNERJOIN_ERCHO_SELECT TIME_OUT Short Text EA05 ISU_DB_INNERJOIN_ERCHO_SELECT TIME_OUT Long Text Hello SAP, We have performance issue on transaction EA05, the transaction is interrupted with shortdump TIME_OUT. We have already implemented sap notes 966286, 966287, 1144708, 1417733 and still have TIME_OUT. Youll find attached the short dump and how to reproduce the error. Connection to system SPS is open and logon data provided in the secure area. Need your help to fix this issue. Thanks and best regards, Steps for Reconstruction

In the first instance, could you please update the statistics on the tables and indexes of ERCH and ERCHO? The statistics of these tables have not been updated in a while. At all, there is no performance problem for other transactions For example, TIME_OUT occurred today for the flowing MR units: J50* L5A* C1B* D1A* J3A* D20* R2A* M10* J5E* J50* H40* J1G* Could you please check during peak hours (10h-11h or 14h30-15h30 GMT+1) Thanks and best regards,

17.06.2011 - 09:02:57 CET - Rponse by SAP Dear Customer, I tried EA05 with M10* and J50* again right now. The running time is much longer today (34 seconds for J50*) but still no time_out dumps. And it's spend most of the time in database 99% and as already explained there're so many entries exist in ERCH so it will take more time to scann the table. Sorry that we could not reproduce it from our end. Please help to verfiy the following things with your users: 1. If the performance problem only occured for EA05? Is there any other transaction or reports also get the performance problem? 2. If the time_out occured only during some fixed time period? If yes, please check if the system load is quite high during this period. 3. If it's possible to enter more selection criterias to improve performance? Best Regards, Bonnie

If you have a look at ST22, you'll see several TIME_OUT ABAP dumps related to report SAPLEVDB (many users get this error) Thanks and best regards,

There's not results list but only info: "No objects correspond to the selection criteria" Response time is 7.9 seconds and 98.7% are on Database. But I assure that transaction EA05 with the same selection criteria terminated with error TIME_OUT. I checked ST22 for TIME_OUT related to report SAPLEVDB and I found that the last error occurred at 07h45 and no error occurred as of this time. Have you performed a special action? I noticed also that the execution plan of the request has been changed a little from yesterday and today (please see attachment : TABLE ACCESS FULL FROM ERCHO instead of TABLE ACCESS BY INDEX ROWID). I tried with following input parameters: Maximum No. of Hits 200 box 'Billing documents' is activated Billing Document No. 0 to ZZZZZZZZZZZZ Meter reading unit J50* The execution led to a response time of 8.8 seconds. So I did not get the time_out dumps. I also attached the file which you could see the analysis of the system, the most time is spent on Database (81%).

Please understand that there're 769.170 entries in ERCH need to be scanned with selection of MRU "J50*". 201.610 Entries will be scanned in ERCHO so it will really take time to get the results from EA05. In our opinion, 8.8 seconds is quite good to get results. If you need additional performance improvement, the only possibility is to enter additional selection criteria. If you know for example the range of billing documents which have been processed in a specific billing run that you want to postprocess, then you may enter a document number range. We tried selection criteria as suggested in attachement: Meter reading unit U50* Only get message : "No objects correspond to the selection criteria" And tried other selection criteria: Meter reading unit *50* We can get the result list but no any dumps. Would you please check if the mentioned performance problem still exist? Besides, the workaround mentioned before to enter FROM and TO values in EA05 for the field Billing Document No. (ERCH-BELNR): FROM 000000000000 TO ZZZZZZZZZZZZ In this case the database chooses a better access path and it will improve the performance. Therefore There is only one thing you can do: You have to enter criteria in the selection area. If you really need to select all the documents, You have to enter the following: FROM and TO values in EA05 for the field BELNR (Billing Document No.) FROM 000000000000 TO ZZZZZZZZZZZZ If you work with the Invoices, you should do the same for the Print Document No. This solution will help. As there is is a large number of entries in tables ERCH (769.167) and ERCHO (201.586), it is quite normal that a select without any other selection criteria take a long time.
