Includes a database of packing types, but custom data can be used. Full Description :PackCol performs hydraulic design for new packed columns or rating calculations for existing columns and towers. The design basis can be approach to flood, maximum capacity or pressure drop. Includes a database of packing types, but custom data can be used. The Eckert and Robbins correlations are included to cover the full flowrate range. Results can be printed in tabular form, and plotted as a Generalised Pressure Drop Correlation diagram or as an Operating Diagram. Uses Imperial or Metric units. Whenever you pass copies of Packed Column Calculator on to others please use the PACKCOL.ZIP file containing PCol_Setup.exe and ReadMe.txt. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS ========================= The Packed Column Calculator package is distributed as a ZIP file called PACKCOL.ZIP. Copy this to a temporary directory and unzip it. This will give you the files listed above. In Windows explorer click on the file PCol_Setup.exe. The installation utility will run and will guide you through the installation procedure. The default directory for the PackCol files is C:\Program Files\PackCol, but the installation procedure will allow you to change this before it copies the files. After the files are copied the installation procedure will create a new program group in the menu and will create an icon for PackCol on your desktop. To run PackCol simply select it from the Start - Programs menu or click the desktop PackCol icon. DETAILED INSTRUCTION MANUAL =========================== The detailed reference manual and tutorials for PackCol are included in the distribution file in the form of an Adobe Acrobat file called PColBook.pdf. If you do not have a copy of Acrobat Reader you can download a free copy from the Adobe web site at www.adobe.com. The manual contains about 33 pages. PURCHASING PACKCOL ================== PackCol is distributed as a trial version. This means you are free to use this copy of PackCol for 30 days to determine its

value and usefulness to you. The evaluation version of PackCol contains the full functionality of the registered version, except for the limited packing factor range. During your 30 day trial period the program will advise you how many days you have remaining. At the end of the trial period the program will no longer allow you to perform calculations, but will still give you access to your raw data. Only if you find PackCol to be worth the asking price do you register and pay. If PackCol does not meet your needs or standards then it has cost you nothing and you simply delete it from your disk. PackCol can be bought either as a single-user license for US$ 80.00 or as a multi-user site license for US$ 250.00 (or the equivalents in many other currencies). When you purchase you can pay by credit card or check. Full details of the purchasing process are included in the manual and in the help file within the program. When you purchase, you will be given a password which will convert your evaluation version to the full version without time limits. The password will work with all upgrades released within 12 months of original purchase. If you pay by credit card you can receive your password almost immediately.
