Charleston Wesley Foundation Spring/ Summer 2011

This was a semester of firsts. It was the first time we participated in the Holston conferences Divine Rhythm, a college student spiritual event. What began as a wish of Drew Goodson, Citadel cadet and CWF events coordinator, ended with Wesley students from The Citadel, College of Charleston, Winthrop University and Furman University joining students from across the Holston conference for a weekend of spirit-filled worship, dynamic speakers and sweet fellowship. We unanimously agreed that this would be an annual event!

This was also the first time that two Trident Technical College students attended the UM Student Forum which was held in Evansville, Indiana this year. Shadana Moses and Juliet Hawkins used their extensive dance background to participate in the liturgical dance in the Saturday evening worship service. Justin Ritter and Jackson Kimbrell also learn much about the structure and polity of the UMC.

Another first was the College of Charleston students attending the historic Dock Street Theatres pay as you will night. We attended the musical, Putnam County Spelling Bee. Justin Ritter, a C of C senior and yours truly were two of the guest spellers taken from the audience! Oh what a night!

This was the 8th summer that spent 10 days with the Conference Youth Choir known as the Spirit Singers. It was 10 days of beautiful musice and joyful fellowship. The initial church tour was a whirlwind of singing and meeting wonderful people in our great conference. Congratulations to all of the HS seniors. Remember to look for your Wesley Foundation family when you arrive at your prospective colleges.
