ANAPHYSIO:

Muscle strain or muscle pull or even a muscle tear implies damage to a muscle or its attaching tendons. You can put undue pressure on muscles during the course of normal daily activities, with sudden, quick heavy lifting, during sports, or while performing work tasks.

Muscle damage can be in the form of tearing of the muscle fibers and the tendons attached to the muscle. The tearing of the muscle can also damage small blood vessels, causing local bleeding and pain.

ETIOLOGY:

Muscle injuries can be caused by contusion, strain, or laceration. . Muscle strains typically concern the superficial muscles working across 2 joints this kind of muscle trauma typically takes place in contact sports, whereas sprinting and jumping are the most common activities associated with muscle strains.

PATHOGENESIS:

The amount of swelling or local bleeding into the muscle can best be managed early by applying ice packs and maintaining the strained muscle in a stretched position. Heat can be applied when the swelling has lessened. However, the early application of heat can increase swelling and pain. It is a muscle strain of the leg that occurs

when players forcefully push off on one leg to move toward a wide ball or when the player lunges toward a serve. The strain usually affects middle-aged tennis players. Women are more prone to the injury than men. Tennis leg is not often seen in elite athletes, young people, or those beyond middle-age

SIGNS & SYMPTOMS:

Swelling, bruising or redness, or open cuts as a consequence of the injury

Pain at rest

Pain when the specific muscle or the joint in relation to that muscle is used

Weakness of the muscle or tendons

TREATMENT

Inability to use the muscle at all

Most muscle strains can be treated with the RICE protocol. Rest Take a break from the activity that caused the strain. Do not apply ice directly to the skin, but you can use cold packs for 20 minutes at a time, several times a day. Compression to prevent additional swelling and blood loss, wear an elastic compression bandage. Elevation to minimize swelling, keep your leg up higher than your heart.

MEDICAL MANAGEMENT

Exercise and fitness is essential to healthy, well-developed lean muscle mass. Major muscles in the body provide humans with the ability to do things such as stand upright, pick up a baby toss a baseball or operate a tractor. While you may not think of your muscles every minute, they are working for you all the time. Keeping them healthy and strong increases strength, endurance, range of motion and mobility.
