1) Above is a disassembled cannon showing all pieces ready to assemble. (The cannon is upside down for better clarity)

At this point I am tempted to say simply assemble all the parts as

shown, but some of you may not share my sense of humor, so read on. 2) Cut all parts in the cut list. You can use a hand saw or a chop saw. If you chose to use a powered saw use proper safety precautions. (Watch your fingers!!) 3) We will start at the end cap and work our way around. Drill a 1/8 pilot hole in the centre of the end cap as shown. I found it easiest to drill

from the inside of the cap. Use a vise with some form of scratch protection holding the cap.

4) Next, use a 9/16 forstner bit to enlarge the 1/8 hole to full size. Tire Stem Choice: a) You can use a standard short rubberized tire valve stem or b) You can use a mechanical brass tire valve stem (Preferred) The metal valve stem is easier to build with and offers superior strength. 5) a) With the rubber valve stem you will have to sand a small area flat on the outside of the end cap using a file or 80 grit sandpaper. (Hint: use a board behind the sandpaper to maintain flatness). I removed approximately 1/32. b) With the metal valve stem proceed to step 6. 6) Use a soap and water solution to lube the tire valve. Insert the tire valve from the inside of the cap as shown in the following picture. (rubber valve stem is pictured)

How to glue:

(It is very critical that you ensure the gluing process is done correctly)

To properly prime and glue any pipe/fitting/joint you must first take the brush in the PVC primer can and lightly tap the brush on the can to remove any excess primer. Wipe the inside of the fittings with the brush and approximately 2 2 of the outside of the pipe that is to be glued. Apply a film of glue to BOTH the fitting and the pipe, then push the two pieces together. Make sure to push the pieces all the way together! At this point, you can either hold the two pieces together for approximately 20 30 seconds or twist or rotate the two pieces to create a faster bond. Often the pieces will spring apart so you must ensure that they are held together securely. Remember you must prime and glue all pieces. Make sure you use the correct PVC primer and glue combination. 7) Prime and glue the 3 end cap onto the 24 x 3 air chamber. 8) You now have the start of a beautiful Magnum Air Cannon. Now that we have a spot to put the air in lets give it some where to go.

9) Prime and glue 3 connector onto 3 x 24 pipe as shown.

10) Prime and glue the 1x 3 bushing into the 3 connector. This finishes the air or firing chamber. Easy HUH???

11) Prime and glue the 2 1/2 x 1 PVC pipe into the bushing as shown.

12) Prime and glue 90 elbow onto the short pipe sticking out of the air chamber as shown. See photo below.

13) Prime and glue a 2 x 1 pipe into the elbow as shown.

14) Temporarily place barrel (24 length of 1 pipe) into the still unused 90 elbow. (DO NOT glue) 15) Since this 90 elbow determines the alignment of the barrel to the firing chamber, be careful to prime and glue the non barrel side of the 90 and place into the short pipe that is already glued into the firing chamber as seen in the photo.

Note: My barrel assembly is temporarily pressed together in this picture for better alignment. 16) Remove temporary barrel and prime and glue the 5 x 1 pipe in the 90 elbow.

17) Prime and glue a ball valve onto the 5 x 1 pipe. Hold the ball valve lever sideways to the pipe. So if you are using the above picture as a guide the ball valve lever should be straight up and down with the lever closed and facing the person in the picture. 18) Prime and glue the 3 1/4 x 1 pipe onto the valve. 19) How to make the rotary bolt. a) *** Make sure the valve lever is in the up, or closed, position (so when you look in the open hole of the valve the ball valve is closed) before drilling the hole.*** See picture. b) Drill a 1/8 pilot hole in the centre of the valve body.

c) Using a 1 forstner bit, drill full sized hole. (DO NOT use a regular drill bit, it wont work). Be extremely careful to watch you depth. You only need to drill until you just expose the ball in the ball valve.

20) Prime and glue rotary bolt onto pipe from other valve. Watch alignment. See photo.

21) Prime and glue the 24 x 1 main first barrel into rotary bolt. Almost done!!

22) Cut a 1 T in half length wise as shown in photo.

23) Using a round file slightly round the bottom of the T as this will be the part that touches/connects with the 3 air chamber. Shown from the end of the T (as if you were looking down the barrel.)

24) a) You can either glue the 1 T onto the barrel as is or by using a round file, file out the slightly raised bit inside of T where arrow indicates in following picture.

b) Prime, glue and clamp the modified T to underside of the barrel as shown. Let dry for a minimum of one hour.

25) Prime both bottom of T and barrel where the T touches. Glue and lightly clamp. Please leave for a minimum of 12 hours for glue to cure. 24 hours is better.

26) Prime and glue 1 to 1 adapter bushing onto the end of 1 barrel.

27) Prime and glue 1 connector onto adaptor.

The basic cannon is done. Please leave for a minimum of 12 hours for glue to cure. 24 hours is better. Optional simulated muzzle brake: This is simply a T (1 ) with the centre drilled out. I chose I 1 3/8 hole. You can dish the ends (scoop out) and scratch/scar the end of the T to show wear. Paint if desired.

Operation Instructions for Marshmallow Cannon

One of the beauties of the marshmallow cannon is its simplicity to operate. 1) Open forward bolt (rotary bolt) place one or more marshmallows in (go ahead cram them in). Rotate handle to closed or forward position (this aligns barrel and rotary bolt for shooting). Close rear ball valve. The handle should be in the upright (up and down) position. Fill air chamber through fill valve to desired pressure. (MAXIMUM 80 psi) Aim cannon in a safe direction away from people and animals. Quickly open rear ball valve to shoot cannon.

2)

3) 4) 5) 6)

Note: The barrel and valves can be cleaned with strong soapy water and a cotton cloth. I found it easiest to use a coat hanger wire bent over the cloth (something like wadding) to push up and down the barrel to gently clean. This actually increases the muzzle velocity a little bit. Enjoy your cannon.
