Gadziala May 1, 2011 Just War It is an old mans fight, but a young mans war. War is far more complex than any individual would ever think. Nations must have a legitimate reason to declare war upon another country. War needs to have cause. War is only permissible to confront a real and certain danger. For example to protect innocent life, to preserve conditions necessary for decent human existence and to secure basic human rights. These are the only just causes of war. When a nation goes to war with another only on the basis of only a rumor it is completely violating the just cause. The United States did not go to a war with Iraq justly. The invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq were both targets of the United States. Many leaders though they knew that there were weapons of mass destruction in these locations, however after three years after starting the war, no weapons were really found. When the war was over the Iraqi people began looting and leading uncivilized actions that would normally be stopped by the Iraqi military. On Contrary to what many Americans would think, the United States military did not protect the people or try to help them govern themselves and change what the United States had won for them. The army was off protecting the oil that was in the eyes of the leaders of the nations. Just wars have a cause that can create real danger. The looking for weapons of mass destruction was just an excuse to be able to go into those two nations and seek out their oil. The leaders of our nation did not really know if there were weapons of mass destructions for those were just rumors that went around

and there were no witnesses and back up of those rumors. Instead of continuing to investigate, because |Afghanistan and Iraq have been targets of the United States for so long, they immediately jumped past the investigation and just automatically inferred that there were weapons that could harm people living all over the world. The leaders of the United States were not competent authority. War must be declared by those with responsibility for public order and not by private groups or individuals. The leaders of the United States are old men. They are the ones that are fighting with words amongst each other to try to cause problem among other nations and other international relations. It is the young men who are actually going off to fight and defend the nation with pride no matter if they were right or wrong in declaring war. After September 11, 2001, many of the worlds leaders automatically pointed their fingers at Al Qaeda and did not even want to doubt their fingerpointing decision. The Pentagon and the CIA of the United States did not even stand each other. There were authorities that wanted to go to war and some that did not. But for the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq, it was an internal battle. Because the President of the United States agreed to the plan of action already drawn up by the CIA, the pentagon became furious. Ronal Rumsfeld would not be able to stand up and take control and wield all the power that he wanted that comes with war. The war was sparked by the greed for power in the authoritative actions of the CIA and the Pentagon.
