Liana Monique San Lorenzo | BSN1-3 A Diary of a young girl Author: Anne Frank

Summary: Anne frank is a typical teenager wholived during the holocaust period in the World War II, the period where the Jews are mistreated. The time when they are not allowed to ride cars, shop at the time of their liking, study at a non-Jewish school and so many other rules . On her 13th birthday, she received a diary from her parents. She loved it very much and started recording her life. When her sister Margot received a call up notice, they decided to hide earlier than planned(june 16, 1942). Their hiding place is located at her dads office. They call it the secret annex. The Frank family are not the only ones in the secret annex. They have company. The van Daans and Mr. Dussel are with them too. In the secret annex, everyone must be cautious. Anne Always experienced being compared to her sister and feels like no one ever understands her. The people living in the annex are just waiting for the war to be over. Killing time while they are there, they study languages and read book and sometimes listen to the radio. Mrs. Frank and Mrs. Van Daan are not always getting along. The adults are not getting along, leaving the children in the annex frustrated. Anne found a friend in Peter van Daan. Annes Father.MeipGeise, Their family friend saw Annes diary and kept it. She gave it to Otto Frank who decided to have the diary published because its Annes wish.

New ideas I learned: I learned that ones diary can be really inspiring; not that I can just freely read someone elses diary but many of us hav very inspiring stories to tell and that someday our thoughts can be significant too. Significant lines in the text: Paper is more patient than people. For me, this line struck me most. For I too, believe that paper is more patient than people. People have the tendency to not really listen. But in a journal, you can tell your innermost thoughts without being judged.

Ideas I agree or disagree with: Anne said "The best remedy for those who are frightened, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere they can be alone, alone with the sky, nature and God. For then and only then can you feel that everything is as it should be and that God wants people to be happy amid nature's

beauty and simplicity.". I strongly agree with this. Sometimes, the only way for us to be happy is to find peace and solitude. Nature calms the senses and the soul and it connects us to God.

Words in the text that Id like to use in my writing: I want to use this sentence "How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world." I think this sentence really makes sense and I want other people to read itto realize that change starts from ourselves and we dont need to wait. Ideas I can relate to previos knowledge: "I don't think of all the misery, but of the beauty that still remains.." Anne states this and I can relate to it. When problems strikes, we need to count our blessings not our misfortunes. Ideas I want to learn more about: I want to learn on why the Nazis hates the jews.

Overall rating of the material: In a scale of 1-10, itll be a 9. I dont like how it ends!!(well, I cant do anything about it) All in all, it is really inspiring to see a young girl face all this problems. Other Reactions and comments: Id like a shorter version. It is an easy read but reading a diary bores me a little. Its a good story though.
